Just a plain old get together back at Panera in Mount Juliet. I've enjoyed having the events, but they don't allow for as in depth conversation, so I look forward to this!
We'll meet for dinner and/or coffee to discuss The Great Filter. If, like me, the concept of a Great Filter is new to you, here's a wiki page about it (the greatest and most trusted of resources). It's an interesting read, but for those who won't take the time to read it, I will sum it up very poorly by saying that the Great Filter purpose is to make other atmospheres and areas inhospitable to advanced intelligence. This is taken from the observation that we can find evidence of intelligent life, but only retrospectively....there are no signs that there is progress outside of our piece of the universe. One of the logical conclusions is that since we don't see intelligent life anywhere else in the universe, we might be going extinct.
Also, what have you been thinking about recently?...we'll also discuss this.
Looking forward to seeing those who can make it!
