Palmyra Cove Nature Paddle

Location: Palmyra Nature Cove, Palmyra NJ

Launch Location: Not listed on our listing but see palmyracove.org which has spot on directions to the Nature Center and the launch will be right there.  About a 300 foot walk to rivers edge from parking.

Estimated Duration: 3 hours

Skill Level: All

Boat Length: All

Float Plan: meet at the Nature Center and walk boats to rivers edge.  Kayak south approximately 1.6 miles to an entrance to the marsh area.  Explore the marsh area and wildlife and then return 1.6 miles to Nature Center.  We will be in the Delaware River for the 1.6 section but will follow the shoreline CLOSELY.  It looks like a NW wind about 5 MPH so this will be a relatively smooth paddle and we will be close to shoreline all the way.

The Nature Center is open until 4PM so we want to be able to have the opportunity to tour the Nature Center on return.  For partners who do not paddle there is a nature walk that roughly paralells the same area that we will be paddling so they could also enjoy the day with a long walk.  Bring a lunch if you like.  The water temperature is still cold (60F).  I will not be in Dry Suit(I am in Farmer John and wetshoes) but feel free to dress how you like as this will be a shoreline paddle.  If you follow the 120 rule.  It is 60 water and 70 air for 130 so a level of protection is still reccomended for your core!  Please bring a set of dry clothes if you do not have wet or dry apparel.

Wow am I sad that I missed this trip. I was skeptical about getting in the Delaware on my first trip but it looks smooth as glass and nice. Who ever took the shot, very nice job. I am into photography myself and your pics. are beautiful and tell a story.
    Thanks!!

I just bought a boat but sadly will not have it until May 9th.....don't know if the Delaware is where I need to be on my maiden paddle anyway. You will see me in the near future however.
