My name is Lynn and Ive recently taken over from the wonderful Nanxy, who created and has run this group since 2018. I would like to thank her for some great nights out together, fabulous food, a few drinks and the many laughs we have enjoyed together. Don't worry we look forward to seeing Nanxy at many events in the future..she will be enjoying many meals with us as a member of the group.
This group is open to anyone and everyone! Whatever your age (over 18) , gender, orientation, religion, married, single,... if you're a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan you're all welcome to join, you just need to love trying new places and good food!
As well as meeting for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Drinks, I would like to also organise some 'Foodie' outings, to visit producers, festivals and shows. Organise talks and demo's, offer opportunities to learn and make things and anything Food and Drink related you may want to experience. I welcome you input, ideas and suggestions and if there is anything you would like to organise please let me know.
**I would like to trial 'Foodie Thursdays' starting in April for monthly online social's to bring us back together after the last years hiatus. This will enable us to re-connect or make new connections, share our love of food and drink, discuss the things we want to do and places we want to visit. It will also give us the opportunity to learn something new by inviting 2 'Foodie' guests each month to share, talk or even maybe a demo or two. This will include Chefs, Food Producers, Specialists, Food Writers, from near and far. The idea is to try to have one local guest and one from far away ( the benefit of Zoom where we could be on a vine yard in Tuscany or a Cocoa plantation in Grenada)**. Have put this on hold for now as little response if this is something you are interested in please contact me and if enough people want it we can bring back at a later date.
To keep the group going we need to ask for an annual subscription of £5 to cover the meetup fee. If we get enough interest and subscriptions by September ( we need at least 30 people ) then we can continue for the year with no extra payment. The only other costs will be if there are events / courses that people want to do where there is an outside charge for example, virtual tasting or cooking classes.
