The book that this movie is based on is called Mickey 7 and it talks about an “expendable” space-traveller who is sent on a borderline-suicidal mission to colonise another world. Every time a Mickey dies another one is cloned with the memories intact, this making him more immortal in the worst possible way.

Pardon me if I sound fatalistic but isn't that already happening? The world is already moving forward with gadgets, apps, and smart technology and A. I to do everything for us. Cloning is also already a thing, as we are replicating tissue and cells to replace body parts and sometimes modifying the unborn. Nevertheless, this story poses some very interesting questions about our current exploitative social structure, the nature of our self-consciousness and the challenges of our common intuitions.

I actually quite like Robert Pattinson, I think he's a good actor and director Bong Joon-ho has made some pretty good movies like The Host and Parasite to mention a few. I'm interested to see how this clever duo adapt these complex themes and paradoxes into this sci-fi thriller.
