This spectacular hike does a loop around the base of Mugu Peak and through La Jolla Valley. This hike is intended for intermediate and advanced hikers, it's not suitable for beginners.
The first part of the hike climbs almost 900 feet in the first .7 miles, that means it's STEEP! After that, the hike meanders through spectacular grasslands in the La Jolla Valley and down into part of the canyon. Then it's another climb up out of the canyon floor, skirting just below the ridgeline as we take in views of the Pacific ocean and loop our way back down to the parking lot. Afterwards, let's grab a bite to eat at Pho Saigon, where they have yummy Vietnamese dishes at great prices!

Coming from Los Angeles, take PCH west/north and cross into Ventura County. As soon as you pass Mugu Rock, look for the orange tower on your left, about 10.8 miles north of Decker Road and the trailhead parking lot is directly across the street from that tower.
