35Up's Bootie Shaping Trek at ROSWELL's Historic Vickery Creek Covered Bridge!

Hello 35Up Trek Boogie'in Hounds:

Join your 35Up & 40 or so, Mingling in Atlanta MeetUp friends at the World Famous, Roswell Covered Bridge for an awe inspiring 5 mile Bootie Shaping Trek. Respectfully, continuing our trail scooting, before, you start hooting about your winter bootie pack! ....:) :)..We are working on some summer pool parties!.... Yes! Start thinking what your NEW 2013 silhouette will look like!!!..

We will meet up at 3:30 P.M., at the Covered Bridge Trail-head for Vickery Creek (w/2 new restrooms). (Note: We have a new trek to add. It was renewed by our Roswell trail rehabilitation volunteers. This new trail has a new Eagle Scoot project bridge, we will be crossing, as well.)

This will be a new 5 miles stretch, to continue preparing our Spring booty! & of course, we will be watching closely for Vickery's Great Blue Heron along this beautiful creek feed into the Chattahoochee. 35Up's trail scoot & Great Blue Heron search will begin at Vickery’s beautiful Covered Bridge, and with the exception of a few short steep stretches alongside the creek-ravine bluffs and gorges, the terrain is fairly level. (Easy Level D-2) We will include a stop at the spillway dam, which fed the mill wheel in a factory downstream. Supplying textiles for Confederate uniforms, the mill was a primary target for Gen. William Sherman whose troops destroyed the facility during the Civil War. The trails along Big Creek are very scenic with the sound of a rushing mountain creek and waterfall. The search will be led by Memphis Russ, a seasoned explorer with intimate knowledge of the Vickery Creek Trials.

**Please try to arrive by 3:15 p.m., so we can start the hike at 3:30 p.m. on the dot :)

..~~ Hwy. 120 from Marietta to Roswell, crosses Atlanta Street, in Roswell, to become Mill Street. Follow Mill Street down the hill, as far as you can go. You'll see our covered bridge parking lot & trail-head sign.

- Bring water, camera & a trail snack
- Suggestion: ankle protecting trail shoes
- Dogs-teenagers & up-OK
- Kids-on a leash & bringing up the rear

Following the hike, we will scoot up the hill for an early patio, healthy dinner at

Hi All- I put my name on the waiting list over a week ago. It seems there are still no more stops left. Is it best I do not head up to the hike? How do I know if I made the cut or not? I am new to this meetup site and am not sure how communication for events work. Thanks for mentoring the rookie:)

Ok Trekkers> Weather is, to be, awesome! 63* & Sunny! I'm wearing comfortable shorts. We should get about 70 attendees by event time, even though, 95 are currently scheduled to attend. Reminder: This is primarily a social hike! We put a fast scooter in front, Harley me-in the middle & a chatty mo-ped bringing up the rear. So, bring a patient heart to help us all finish, happily, with many new friends! We do stop 4 or 5 times for taking Facebook & Family photos where, especially, scenic backgrounds exist....Russ

I must say the name for this event great. does it mean I don't have to go workout?

    February 23, 2013

  • Kathie Z

Looking forward to it. Will sneakers work or do I need hiking shoes?

    February 20, 2013

    • Memphis R.

Sneakers will work if, the ground is fairly dry. If you enjoy hiking, please acquire some good Ankle protecting Trekker shoes! They grip the slippery leaves safer & protect your ankles from twisting, upon a tumble over trail path stones & above ground tree roots. & Even I stumble, while taking my eyes off the ground to observe this marvelous beauty! :)
