Meetup details changed: Tubing in Helen & picnic afterwards

From: BobM

I've updated this Meetup. For more details, see the full listing:

Added information for anyone that will be going Tubing for the first time. Pasting the content on bottom as well to save you time.

When: Sunday, August 1,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Cool River Tubing
590 Edelweiss Strasse
Helen, GA 30545

1st time Tubing? ? No problem, I?ve been there many times over the years so I?ll try my best to answer frequently asked questions. First off the river in Helen is mostly shallow with a few spots you can?t stand up. So shallow, that on times you will need to get up and move tube off rocks and into moving watersmile. A 4? stick comes in handy to push off rocks. Cool River sell those for a price (souvenir) but you can bring your own. Cool River will provide you a life jacket, some people prefer to tie it to their tube instead, but they recommend you wear it for safety. After we pay, we'll all get in their bus which will drop us up-river along with tubes, where we start tubing. They do have ties you can borrow (generally for kids) to tie the tubes up, but not necessary. Majority of the slow moving river (depending on the water level) is shaded by trees on the bank. Along the way we?ll pass vacation homes, a haunted house, bridges, water slide, restaurants with live music, a tree of lost soles(shoes found), and a couple of small rapids, with one decent one right after we pass the main Helen bridge; which is lot of fun however if you rather walk it, I?ll point it out if you are close to me. We end the journey same place we started. If we have some members waiting on shore, they can take the group?s pictures. I?ll have my water proof camera with me. If you don?t want your picture taken, turn around or we?ll do our best to frame you out. Trip is about 2 to 3 hours depending on recent rains.
Once back, they do have few showers and changing rooms as well as many picnic tables. Please bring a dish, snack, or your specialty food to share with the group. I?m bringing some snacks (chips, Humus, cookies, granola bars, nuts etc) for all. They do have grills if you want to cook, however I rather socialize with you all this time and enjoy munchies.
Lot of people asked about alcohol/beer policy. Being a host I will only provide you official answer; it is not allowed. They will not allow you on the bus if you have coolers or visible beer cans. Water bottles are allowed, just no glass. Leave anything you do not want to get damaged or loose in water. I?ve lost many pair of shades and even a watch and could not find it. You can leave your keys at the desk when checking in.
If you still have questions, email me and I?ll be happy to respond personally or in Comments section.

If the changes affect your plans to attend, please take a moment to update your RSVP. (You can RSVP "No" or "Maybe" as well as "Yes".)
