A Kids (and parents or grandparents) Hike to the Aqua Fria

I have taken my 7 year grandson Caleb on a couple of hikes and he loves it especially the rock climbing part. So if anyone out there is interested, and has youngsters that like to hike, I will lead a hike down Badger Springs to the Aqua Fria river.

Distance- at least 2 miles, the hike to the river is 1 mile

Elevation- 200 feet- on the way back up Badger Springs

Difficulty- Easy to moderate to difficult. It depends on if the river is running.

With the rain this week there may be some water in the river. It just makes it more challenging to find our way around. We will climb around for a while, rest and then go back. This hike is not about distance, it's about the kids having fun.

RULES:

An experienced adult hiker must accompany their own child.

I am not responsible for the safety of the children attending, the parent or grandparent is. Please do not bring along friends kids.

Remember children on hikes are like dogs, they are all over the place exploring. Don't forget that this is an in and out hike, and the kids need to have some energy to get back.

Bring plenty of water and some snacks. The kids are used to school backpacks, my grandson uses his.

I want this to be a fun experience for the kids. I am an Elementary school PE teacher so I have an idea of their abilities. We won't be climbing any cliffs just some rocks.

The carpool will meet at the Fry's at Bell road and 27th Ave at 9AM. For those interested we will go to Rock Springs for lunch afterward.

Directions to the trailhead-take I17 north to Exit 256 follow dirt road east to the end. We will meet there at 10AM

    Hello Gary,
I did not see where to indicate that I was bringing someone, but I am planning on brining my two boys, my girlfriend, and her daughter. We are all experienced hikers.
