This short loop is a favorite with our crowd and it's super easy access from the 101.
Although not an official, maintained city trail, the locals have been beating in this interesting and tight route that tops out at a beacon tower at 2050 feet. Route will give us a nice level warm up, then take us up over a ridge with a commanding view of Deer Valley airport where we can watch the Pan Am Flight Academy students turn final below our view perch. This is a chance to check out one of the city's unofficial and hidden gems. Shorter distance than our regular hikes but don't count this trail out. It's steep and twisty. Since I am finally back on my feet, I will clear the snakes out of the tighter spots for everyone :)
