A Boulder Hopping, Creek Crossing Water Hike Adventure to a Spectacular, 75 Foot Waterfall Oasis…Cibeque Falls, Nestled Deep in the Salt River Canyon Wilderness, Globe, AZ!

Located just 40 miles north of Globe, is the beautiful Salt River Canyon Wilderness, a pristine and remote, riparian wilderness area consisting of the Upper Salt River with its 52 miles of many class II, III and IV rapids which can be rafted during the early spring, and off to its side are numerous creeks, tributaries and steep walled, slot canyons. Only about 4 miles down from the Salt River Canyon Bridge and nestled deep in the gorgeous and scenic, Cibeque Canyon, lies a hidden waterfall oasis of Arizona, the majestic and spectacular, Cibeque Falls, pounding and plummeting 75 feet down into deep crystal-clear emerald blue water below!

***PLEASE NOTE: HCV/4WD’s VEHICLES REQUIRED****

There is off-road travel which requires the use of HCV/4WD vehicles for crossing Cibeque Creek.

The trail head has a large parking area available. There are no toilet facilities.

Please plan to car pool with other group and club members. Car pools can be arranged at the meet up location the morning of.

This is a “non-technical” canyon adventure, with boulder hopping, creek crossing and wading through water, also some bushwhacking through the bottom of the canyon.

Highly advise waterproof hiking boots, all terrain water hiking shoes or sandals, and hiking poles for walking/wading through water.

This hike is mostly walking in and out of water with cool temps. Synthetic/quick dry clothing and neoprene socks are recommended.

Day time air temps will be warm, highly recommend protective clothing, sun screen, and hats, are also advisable.

Please come prepared and pack plenty of water, protein, carbs, energy snacks and electrolytes are highly recommended.

Pictures are highly encouraged so recommend waterproof sport cameras, digital cameras, and GoPros.

Pack everything you need to bring with you in dry sacks, water tight protective pouches or cases for camera, phones or any electronics.

We will break for snacks, pictures and regrouping and also just enjoy some time while there at the base of the falls.

After the hike, we will plan to together for lunch at the historic, “Drift Inn Saloon” in downtown Globe, and return to Phoenix by late afternoon.

GROUP POLICIES & GUIDELINES:

GROUP PACE: For this non-technical canyon adventure, we will be trekking at a slow, steady pace while boulder hopping, creek crossing and wading in and out of water, up to waist high and in deeper pools, swimming. Hike at the pace which is most comfortable to you but please note, you are responsible for yourself and your safety. Please research before you come by reviewing the resources and logistical information and PLEASE COME PREPARED!
