SUMMIT BAGGERS SPINE HIKE....
Prescott National Forest (88 miles from Loop101/I-17)
Elevation Gain: 1000'
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced
Distance: 4.5 Miles
Temperatures: low 40's start to mid 50's early afternoon.
Meetup: 7AM @ Prescott National Forest Trail #285 Trailhead 6940'.
1000' elevation gain to Mt. Union summit 8007' on a SSE Spine Trail (not Trail #285)
SPINE traverse (limited trailing) EAST to Mt. Davis 7905' and freestyle NNW back to trailhead. Use of actual trails limited ... primarily Free Styling thick forest with some light rock climbing.... (thorny oak bushes; shorts not recommended).
There are beautiful views to PHX/PRESCOTT/Humphreys from both peaks.
We will pass numerous abandoned (filled in) gold mines.
There is an outhouse atop Mt. Union.
Loop 101/Interstate 17 NORTH to Cordes Junction (MP 263); WEST towards Prescott. Highway 69 WEST to Walker Road (MP 293). SOUTH on Walker Road (Pavement ends 7.8 miles down; continue left over bridge) to "Potato Patch" (about 3 more miles). At Potato Patch LEFT/south to the very end of Poachers Row..this is the trailhead.
