This informative and interesting event just in from Alex...
Chris Joyell, Executive Director of the Asheville Design Center, informed Alex that their graduate intern will be presenting his concept of "The New Mountain House" (real house replacement for the mobile home) at Lord Auditorium of the Pack Library at 6 PM on May 22.
"Please join us on May 22nd at 6pm at the Lord Auditorium (Pack Memorial Library) to learn about ADC's joint-venture with Mountain Housing Opportunities to reinvent the mobile home.
Although much work has been done on a national and international basis for “small home” design, no practical model has yet been developed with a focus on affordability. New Mountain Home will yield a high quality, flexible, green, and low-cost housing option rooted in the local vernacular and culture of both the southern Appalachian mountains and the City of Asheville.
Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellow Geoffrey Barton will present his initial findings and concepts for how to improve the mobile home and transform trailer parks into functioning neighborhoods."
Note: This is an additional event and not part of our regularly scheduled AS&THBC Meetup meeting. It does not affect our normal meeting schedule.
