What we're about
Toasters Digest (http://www.toastersdigest.org/) is a Toastmasters International Club located in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Our lunchtime meetings on Wednesdays draw individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal of improving their communication skills. While maintaining the typical structure of Toastmasters meeting, Toasters Digest meetings are casual, relaxed, and inclusive. Toasters Digest is a welcoming club that provides a great opportunity to network, hear from people with different professional backgrounds, and, of course, improve public speaking. We also make a point of getting to know each other outside of Toastmasters and sponsor regular socials for our members.
Chartered in January 2005 as 44 Montgomery Masters, renamed in July 2011 as 2nd Street Masters, and renamed again in December 2016 as Toasters Digest, our group has developed into a vibrant club that embraces and promotes the Toastmasters mission to provide a comfortable, yet productive environment for public speaking practice.
Who We Are:
Our members come from a variety of diverse and international backgrounds as well as professions such as technology, finance, law, non-profit, health care, small business entrepreneurship, education, etc. Toasters Digest is an ideal club for those who wish to be exposed to a range of perspectives and to cultivate their speaking skills in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
What can you expect from meetings?
Meetings last an hour and follow a well-organized format. Prior to each meeting, members sign up for roles, which include the Toastmaster, Grammarian, Timer, Speakers, Joke Master, Speech Evaluators, Table Topics Master, and a General Evaluator. Each role is explained in more detail here (https://www.toastmasters.org/Membership/Club-Meeting-Roles).
The Toastmaster selects a topic as the theme for that week's meeting. Speakers are invited to center his/her speech around the theme or to deliver one on a topic of his/her choosing. Although the roles are only open to members, guests are encouraged to speak during Table Topics, which is a fun and engaging exercise for impromptu speaking.
Why visit or become a member:
Whether you are a well-versed speaker wanting an opportunity to practice and receive feedback, or you are finally fulfilling your New Year's Resolution to overcome your fear of public speaking, Toasters Digest believes in fostering a fun, creative, and encouraging environment for all to improve their public speaking and leadership skills.
Once you have visited 3 times as a guest to our meetings, you may officially become a member and part of the Toasters Digest community.
