**Animal Power Flow x Budokon Yoga Stretch with Lawrence**
Ready to break out of your standard workout routine? This session is a deep dive into the art of movement, combining the raw, ground-based power of Animal Flow with the fluid, martial-arts-inspired grace of Budokon Yoga.
The Vibe:
**💥 Part 1: Animal Flow (The Power)** We start by getting low. Using primal movements like Crasbs, Beasts, and Scorpions, we’ll build serious "functional" strength. No weights—just you vs. gravity. This phase is all about explosive energy, core stability, and waking up every single muscle in your body.
🐍 **Part 2: Budokon Yoga Stretch (The Flow)** Once the fire is lit, we shift gears. Influenced by martial arts and yoga, the Budokon section is all about circular motion and continuous flow. We’ll use slow, controlled transitions to "un-glue" your joints, lengthen your muscles, and find balance after the intensity.
Why this combo? Because strength without mobility is stiff, and mobility without strength is fragile. We’re training for the best of both. 🙌😎
Bring towel, water and gym gloves.

SNP Dickey Ridge Blooms 3.5 Mi 600 Ft Moderate Hike
This Shenandoah National Park out-and-back hike starts at the Dickey Ridge Trailhead before reaching the North Entrance pay station. A pretty stream runs parallel with the trail for about a mile until we begin an ascent to our turn around point where the trail again intersects with Skyline Drive. At this time of year, we should see early spring flowers! Sections of the trail are rocky, and there are several very small “rock hop” water crossings. Elevation gain is about 600 ft. We typically hike about 2 mph; however, we leave no one behind and will move at a pace that is comfortable for all. Breaking for flower photos is encouraged!
**Group Size:** 20 hikers
**Time to Meet:** Please meet 15-20 minutes prior to hike start for introductions and liability waiver sign in.
If you can't make the hike, please edit your RSVP with 24-48 hours notice if possible to open a spot for another hiker. This request also applies to those on the waitlist.
**Meeting Location/Parking:** 17065 Skyline Drive, Front Royal, VA
There is ample shoulder parking on both sides of Skyline Drive adjacent to the marked Dickey Ridge Trailhead although carpooling is encouraged to conserve spots. Heading south on Skyline Drive, the trailhead is on the right BEFORE the Front Royal/North Entrance Pay Station.
**Facilities:** No restroom is available at the trailhead.
**Admission:** Park fee or pass. https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/fees.htm
**Contact Information**: Please use the comments feature for comments and questions. The hike leader is Lisa Peterson.
**Cancellation**: In the event that the hike needs to be cancelled, hikers will be notified through comments on this posting. Please check Meetup for updates.
**What to Bring:** Water at least two liters, emergency contact information, personal first aid kit and medications, snacks/meal, sunscreen/protection from weather, insect repellant, trekking poles if you use them (highly recommended for hikes with water crossings), sturdy hiking footwear.
Please leave pets at home. Thanks!

MO: “Our Neighborhood” (Shenandoahs; Thornton + Gravel Springs Gaps) (36 miles)
Let’s just stay in the “neighborhood” next month. I considered backpacking another segment of West Virginia’s Allegheny Trail, but it is too far to drive and set up a shuttle for an ordinary weekend. I’ll save it for Memorial Day weekend in May. But don’t let the “neighborhood" tag fool you. This 36 mile loop features 3,700 feet of climbing Saturday and 2,400 Sunday. If you’ve been getting soft during these cold winter weeks, you’ll feel this one! (I’ve given this trip the “neighborhood” title because it is in our “backyard” and because it goes over Neighbor Mountain. Ok. I’ve had funnier trip titles . . .)
**FRIDAY**: We’ll meet at the Vienna Metro at 5:00 p.m. to park at Thornton Gap. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1wd8gzfJnYSXh2v87DC
We’ll hike 1.5 miles north on the Appalachian Trail to camp at the Pass Mtn. Hut. It will be 1.5 miles.
**SATURDAY**: We’ll hike north on the AT, turn left on the Neighbor Mtn Trail, turn right on the Jeremy’s Run Trail back to the AT, continuing north to the Gravel Springs Hut. It will be 22 miles.
**SUNDAY:** We’ll hike south on the AT to Keyser Run Rd to Pole Link
Bridge Trail to Piney Branch Trail to Hull School Trail to Rocky Branch Trail back to the AT south to Thornton Gap. It will be 15 miles.

By RSVPing to this trip or any other DCUL trip, you agree to these guidelines and to DCUL's waiver liability terms (https://dculbackpacking.com/about/liability-waiver/)
