We will start ordering food around 7 pm, separate checks, order only for yourself. While we wait for the food, we will start playing a set of games as ice-breakers, starting 7 pm. So please be on time (and that includes me, hahaha!!).
\*\* Dress to Impress, and
Join us for a fun, social evening at Bacchus of Lebanon in Bethesda. Enjoy authentic Lebanese food, great conversation, and live belly dancing while we relax and enjoy good company in a lively setting.
Order what you like, enjoy the show, and have a great night out.
Social: Potluck and "Big Trip" Celebration
I'm excited to revive a DCUL tradition -- our annual potluck and "big trip" slideshow. You'll get to munch on tasty treats while seeing brief presentations from 2025 "big trips," including Tour du Mont Blanc, Nepal, the Wonderland Trail, and adventures in Colorado and Arizona.
It's a great opportunity to socialize, meet other club members, and learn about trips that may be on your bucket list. And who knows--maybe a few plans for 2026 and 2027 trips, domestic or international, will take shape.
This will be a potluck, so post what you're planning to bring in the comments. The building is easily accessible by metro—just two blocks from the Eisenhower metro or a short walk from the King Street metro. Limited street parking is available, but there are parking garages nearby.
Broad Hollow Circuit Hike Redux (SNP)
This hidden jewel of a hike offers lots and lots of winter leg stretching and cardio workout opportunities as it circles around the mountains on the eastern side of Shenandoah National Park's central section.
To begin our hike, we'll descend steeply from the Pinnacles Overlook, leaving most of the views behind us as we drop to the park's boundary before climbing upward following a mountain stream. There's winter greenery to jazz up the dull winter mood.
Our very strenuous 10.8-mile circuit hike does not offer much in the way of views, but offers plenty of peaceful woods for us to explore. We'll see plentiful mountain laurel, old growth hemlock and wild oak. Along the way, we'll also see remnants of the mountains' former residents and travel on a very rocky forestry road. Elevation gain of this hike is approximately 2800 feet, with a significant portion at the end of the hike. Only well-conditioned and well-prepared hikers should attempt very strenuous hikes. The hike will generally be long and steep, and may include stream crossings and other challenging terrain.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, sturdy footwear, optional headlamp, and about $24 for transportation and trip fees. ($5 for the Adventuring trip fee\*\*, $12 for mileage reimbursement, and a shared portion of the $30/car SNP admission fee. (We can usually cover the Park’s admission fee with those hikers who hold annual park passes.)
We'll carpool at 8:00 a.m. from the Kiss & Ride Lot of the East Falls Church Metro Station. We will make our usual pit stop at a Sheetz to stock up on lunch and/or snacks before heading to the trailhead. There may be an optional dinner stop on the way home. RSVPs open 2 weeks before the event.

Local Social Host Sign-Up: Lunches, Drinks & Curated Experiences
**Want to help bring your city’s community together?**
We’re looking for local hosts to organize small group lunches, evening drinks, mixers, movie get-togethers and curated experiences.
**No experience necessary,** just a friendly attitude, some local knowledge, and a willingness to meet a few new people. After each event, we’ll send a short feedback form so we can improve and support you. The host will also be able to provide feedback so we can learn what worked and what didn't.
**[Click here](https://form.questionscout.com/6926c9ab87a828a5c11a79fc)** to apply and get started: if you’re selected, we’ll reach out for a quick screening call.
