Shadowdark Campaign: Gunderholfen and Other Adventures
A biweekly open-table **West Marches Shadowdark campaign** based mainly on a collection of OSR adventures written by G. Hawkins.
**What You'll Need:**
1. *(Recommended):* A laptop, tablet or phone (I will bring a power strip for charging). We will be using a virtual table-top (Owlbear Rodeo), which does not require installation or an account. Alternatively, players can forego the VTT and play using a "Theatre-of-the-Mind" approach.

3. **Character design:** Players will roll character stats in person, either with physical dice or using the character-creation-rolls channel in my Discord server. Characters start at level 1. Players can create a stable of up to three characters to choose for use in sessions. If a character dies, a new character can be created (at level 1) as above. I recommend that created characters be entered into the online Shadowdark character creation resource *[[Shadowdarklings.net](http://shadowdarklings.net/)]([https://shadowdarklings.net/create](https://shadowdarklings.net/create))* for long-term storage and updating between sessions.
4. You can bring physical dice or use the VTT built-in dice roller.

For many in the DMV region and nationwide, February 14 also marks one year since the first federal Reduction in Force (RIF) action, a moment that deeply impacted thousands of current and former federal workers, contractors, and their families.

Recent RIFs and government downsizing have brought sudden change, uncertainty, and emotional strain, impacting not only careers, but identity, stability, and well-being. While the year has brought loss and uncertainty for many, it has also revealed extraordinary resilience, reinvention, and inner strength.
Join the Meditation Museum, a remarkable nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and strengthening communities rooted in resilience and perseverance, as we partner with RIF2RISE for a special Valentine’s Day gathering. Together, we will honor and uplift current and former federal workers and contractors through a compassionate, supportive community presence. How to prepare?
1\. Wear comfortable shoes\. If you have hiking boots that would be preferred\. However\, if you have not committed to buying hiking shoes\, wear comfortable tennis shoes\.
2\. Check the weather for the day and dress appropriately\. When you are hiking in the Winter\, you need to pay attention to what the weather may be for that day\. The start of the hike will be cooler than the the end of the hike\. You still will want to dress in layers\, as you will start off cold\, but as we move you will warm up\. Also\, make sure you wear solid footwear with grips on the bottom\. Hiking boots are strongly encouraged\. Winter can bring snowy trails that can be slick if you are not wearing appropriate footwear\.
3\. Bring a small to medium size back pack\. This is to carry any personal items; cell phone\, water\, personal medication\, and any other items you may need\.
4\. Always bring a at ***least*** 1L of water. Make sure you have hydrated the day before, and the day of the hike.
5\. Remember\, there are no bathrooms in nature\, so stay hydrated but make sure you are good to hike without needing a bathroom\. If you do need to use the bathroom\, nature will be your stall\.
6\. Suggested: Download the AllTrails app\. Trail app will be provided in confirmation email\.

**What to bring**: Laptop, Charger, maybe a power strip if you have one handy, any other game development tools you need. Try to download any software you need before the working session. There is Wifi at this location, but it may be slow if you have to download any large files.
Insight Meditation of Northern Virginia
Whether you're new to Insight meditation or an advanced practitioner looking for like-minded people to sit with, you're welcome to join us at our Sunday morning drop-in group, sponsored by the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind.
This class includes a 30-minute lightly-guided meditation, followed by a short talk and time for questions and discussion. Refund and Ticket Resell Policy
All sales are final. We only refund the full amount, if the event is canceled. If it is rescheduled, we will send an email to ticket holders advising that. A full refund will be given to those that let us know within 2 calendar days of the update email, if you are unable to make it on the new date. No refunds will be given after that time.
However, you can sell your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. Please, feel free to post in the comment box for the event, that you have a ticket for sale. ASL Brunch on Sundays in Greenbelt
Join our ASL Brunch on Sundays in Greenbelt! All ASL users and learners are welcome.
Brunches are alternately held at two restaurants in Greenbelt, both in the same town plaza.
ODD WEEKS: 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays, we meet at Cedars of Lebanon, 103 Centerway.
EVEN WEEKS: 2nd and 4th Sundays, we meet at New Deal Café,113 Centerway.
We are the Greenbelt ASL Community, a group of both Deaf and hearing people who hang out, chat about everyday goings on, trade stories, get to know each other better, and of course, enjoy food together. Many members use ASL as their primary language, several are interpreters or other fluent ASL users, while others are ASL learners who wish to improve their skills while making new friends.
Before or after brunch, you can visit the farmer's market and small coop grocery store in the plaza.

RSVPs are required. The reason is that it should increase your own enjoyment. You see, the ideal number of players for a pickup soccer game is perhaps 6x6 - 8x8; some players won't attend if they think the turnout will be low, and others will just assume the game will be cancelled even though we always play. (As a practical matter, smaller games are less fun since the comics won't have the audience they need, but, they do have two hidden benefits: shorter, more intense games/workouts and fewer face kicks/yellow cards. So we play no matter how small or large.) So non-RSVPers are a little short sighted, since they don't seem to want to maximize their own enjoyment in the long run. Rational and sane players who have a good chance of attending RSVP a week early both here and at https://meetup.com/dcsoccer , the parent soccer group.

Start, Stop, Sustain: A Strategic Planning Workshop for 2026
**\* This is an in-person event**
At the beginning of the year, most of us reflect on what we want to achieve and do in the coming months. However, if we only think about what we want to add, without reflecting on what we are already doing and what we might have to let go, we end up with an unrealistic plan that will leave us overwhelmed in March and abandoning change in May.
In this reflective and interactive session we will create a plan that includes starting, prioritizing and letting go of activities to achieve the goals we strive for. You will leave the session with clear next steps to avoid the scarcity trap (not investing enough in promising ideas) as well as the rigidity trap (holding on to things because we know how to do them). In addition to these concrete plans, you will learn a set of planning facilitation tools that you can apply in group and individual settings, including Impromptu Networking, Ecocycle Planning, Troika Consulting and 15% Solutions.
