Friday Night Lecture: Clear Sky Mind
Friday Night Lecture: Clear Sky Mind
“When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and the mind becomes still, a deep happiness and sense of contentment naturally arise from within.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche We often feel trapped in painful habits of thought — anxiety, hurt, or sadness — believing our mind is fixed and unchanging. This mistaken perception leaves us feeling powerless to escape our own emotions. Yet this limited view does not reflect the true, pure nature of our mind. During this lecture, we will explore the mind’s natural clarity and boundless potential for peace. Through meditations on the clear nature of the mind, we’ll come to understand that genuine freedom from unhappiness — and the attainment of enlightenment itself — is truly possible. With this insight, we can begin a joyful process of deep and lasting transformation. Following this Friday Night Lecture, we will have an opportunity to engage in a Saturday retreat to practice these profound meditations. **Sahaja Yoga teaches a unique method of meditation, rooted in ancient spiritual knowledge.** We follow a format of continuous integration of topics in our classes so that no two classes are same and so we are able to accommodate new meditators along with experienced ones. **Through Sahaja Yoga, you can achieve a state of meditation known as thoughtless awareness. In this state, you experience and enjoy the present moment without any distractions from the past or future. Your consciousness works in flow with your inner energy ([Kundalini](https://us.sahajayoga.org/the-kundalini/)).** Some of the things we go over with in our programs are how to awaken your dormant Mother energy called Kundalini. Meditation with Mantras using power of very basic mantra to bring peace within! Meditation with music, what are Chakras, how to take affirmations, what is Thoughtless Awareness and how to find the state of your Chakras. *Meditation sessions led by an experienced fellow meditator.* **Please join us to awaken the dormant energy within you and re-balance your emotional, physical and mental state of being!** **Sahaja Yoga was founded in 1970 by Shri Mataji**. She envisioned a world where people would be transformed, and lead more balanced lives. She has worked tirelessly to help people meditate and achieve greater spiritual heights through this meditation. **Cost**: Free **Parking**: Paid parking in garages and on street. Across the three sessions, you will be guided through simple, practical meditation techniques aimed at helping you experience mental stillness, emotional balance, and inner awareness. The course is experiential rather than theoretical, making it accessible for beginners while offering depth for those looking to build a regular meditation practice. Participants are encouraged to attend all three weeks to gain the full benefit of this structured and progressive journey toward well being and inner peace. **FAQs** **What is the cost for the events?** All Sahaja Yoga meditation events, classes, and workshops are offered free of cost and are open to all. Just as one cannot pay nature to sprout a seed, in the same way, Sahaja Yoga is a living process that cannot be paid for. **What should I wear?** We do not have a dress code, but recommend any decent, comfortable wear or smart casual wear. **What do you typically do at a workshop or event?** Our events are varied and diverse ranging from music and meditation to cultural and spiritual exhibitions and other creative explorations. We offer meditation at all our events. Depending on the event, our workshop focuses on a particular topic and then we provide guided meditation and offer simple techniques to maintain balance. These techniques may include the use of elements such as water and light that make the meditative experience very enjoyable. We also have time for questions and individual queries and teach how to meditate at home at each workshop. **Do I need to bring anything?** No, you’re fine. Just walk in and enjoy the event! **I haven’t RSVP’d, can I still come for the event?** Yes, you can, although we recommend you Register to make sure we have seats for you. **I’ve attended a workshop. What next?** To take full advantage of your experience with meditation, the next step would be to attend any of our regular meetings as we offer ongoing classes. Consider that when a plant is given water, it grows strong and healthy. In the same way, meditation cleanses and harmonizes one’s being, so attending a weekly collective meditation is the best way to bring lasting peace and well-being. We still encourage you to attend our diverse events that may appeal to you. There is always something interesting going on, so keep stopping by or checking our website. **What is Sahaja Yoga?** Sahaja Yoga is a meditation breakthrough founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970 and is based on ancient principles for the modern world. It begins with the awareness of one’s individual energy called, ‘kundalini.’ Once the kundalini is awakened within, the process of meditation becomes effortless and spontaneous, and this leads to complete peace and balance in life. With balance comes lasting joy and well-being of mind, body, emotions and spirit. **Where can I attend a Sahaja Yoga event or class?** You can check this website for upcoming events. Our free classes are offered nationwide and internationally. For classes in the D.C. Metro Area (Maryland, Virginia and D.C.), please visit [local ](http://www.dcsahajayoga.org/weekly-classes.html "http://www.dcsahajayoga.org/weekly-classes.html")[classes](https://www.dcsahajayoga.org/ "https://www.dcsahajayoga.org/") If you’re looking for classes out of state or abroad, you may visit sahajayoga.org *Still have questions feel free to contact us at 469-616-9939*

This unique guided session invites you to explore the wisdom of your body through sacred postures and rhythmic soundscapes. You will relax into a specific posture guided by an experienced facilitator, combining breathwork, focused intention, and gentle cues including rhythmic sounds designed to support your trance state and enhance your experience. **ONLINE** Mindfulness Meditation with Hugh Byrne
**NOW ONLINE** The weekly Sunday morning (10:30 am to 12 noon) class begins with a welcome, short reflection on an aspect of the teachings, and includes an arriving meditation (15 minutes) that will often incorporate poems and may end with a reflection or question. The opening meditation is followed by an invitation to each person to share their name and a few words (for example, what is alive for them right now or what their intention is for the class or the day). The sharing has been a powerful support to help welcome new people, get to know each other, and build community/sangha. Following a brief period of mindful stretching/movement, we finish with a longer meditation (25-30 minutes) and final reflections on the teachings, sharing, Q&A, and announcements. Class participants are welcome to stay and engage with other members of the community or adjourn to a neighboring restaurant or coffee shop. This space is inclusive, everyone is welcome, and we invite you to bring with you all aspects of yourself. The Wisdom of Emptiness: Discovering the True Nature of Reality
The Wisdom of Emptiness: Discovering the True Nature of Reality
Buddha’s teachings on the wisdom of realizing emptiness reveal how things actually exist. At present, due to deep-rooted ignorance, we perceive people and situations as existing independently from our mind and assign them fixed qualities — good or bad, attractive or unattractive. This mistaken view gives rise to emotional turmoil and the many problems that follow. Through meditating on emptiness, we discover that all things exist as mere appearances to mind. Understanding this frees us from grasping, allowing us to relate to our world with greater flexibility, peace, and joy — like recognizing we are dreaming and gaining control within the dream. In this course, Gen Demo will explain the second stage of Mahamudra from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s Oral Instructions of Mahamudra and guide practical meditations on emptiness, showing how to apply this liberating wisdom in daily life. * **Cost**:$30/Financial Hardship: $15 Online: $30 Online Plus/General/Friend/Supporter: $15 Benefactors & Benefactor Plus: Free * Event Schedule Session 1: 1pm-2:15pm Session 2: 3pm-4:15pm Optional Wishfulfilling Jewel with tsog: 4:30pm-5:30pm **To Register: [Click Here](https://meditation-dc.org/event/the-wisdom-of-emptiness-discovering-the-true-nature-of-reality/)** * The Teacher ![Teacher Image](https://meditation-dc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/IMG_4560.jpeg) This course is taught by Gen Kelsang Demo. Starhawk Meditation Ritual
Starhawk Meditation Ritual
For those feeling the need to get in touch with their own personal power right about now, join MoonFire on Sunday, January 18 at 12:00 PM, to hear Starhawk's 45-minute taped guided meditation, "The Way To The Well." In the meditation, Starhawk will help you explore different aspects of your own power by inviting you to visit three different wells: the well of your own personal power, the well of “Power Over” (whether it’s power someone has over you, or you have over someone else), and the well of community power. If you’ve heard this meditation before, feel free to attend again, as you may hear or experience something differently or in a different way than a previous time. If desired, please bring a pillow, towel, or mat for comfort, and your journal. A potluck and time for fellowship will follow the ritual; you might like to bring food or drink to share, along with your own plates/utensils, or share our food and supply of washable re-usables. MoonFire holds ritual the 3rd Sunday of every month at the UU Church of Arlington, VA, starting at 12 PM with a pre-ritual briefing. Plan to arrive a little early so you can meet folks and get settled in. Rituals are usually followed by a potluck. We welcome everyone. If you are wondering whether to bring children, are new to Paganism, or plan to take pictures or write about our ritual, let us know ahead of time.

His journey has led him to study with some of today’s most respected spiritual masters, but it was through divine revelation that his ability to work within the Akashic Records and transmit Light Language fully emerged.* *Bill now offers this work as a gift of service—to support others in awakening to their truth, releasing what no longer serves, and remembering the wholeness that has always been within.* *His mission is simple and powerful: to support your healing on all levels—**emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual**—so you can live more aligned, more free, and more fully alive.* *** If you feel the call, trust it. Your soul has already said yes. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Bill at [bill@myakashichealing.com](mailto:bill@myakashichealing.com) or 301 448-0388.
