Make Lotions, Potions and Creams: Beginner's Workshop
Make Lotions, Potions and Creams: Beginner's Workshop
Lotions, Potions & Creams I Dread the feeling of dry, itchy skin? The obnoxious fragrances and unreadable ingredients of drug store moisturizing lotions? Want to moisturize and nourish your skin without feeling like you've been dunked in a tank of grease? Come learn to make your own lotions, for yourself, your family, and your clients. We'll use simple, natural, vegan ingredients like vegetable waxes and flower waters. You'll chose enhancing ingredients like essential oils, cocoa butter, shea butter, argan, tamanu, evening primrose, rosehip and calendula oil to meet individual skin needs. You'll not only learn how to make a basic white lotion and basic white cream from scratch, but also how to protect yourself and your loved ones, no matter how young, from harmful sun rays, while still making and storing essential vitamin D by using natural ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut and avocado oils. You'll preserve with essential oils and grapefruit seed extract instead of harmful ingredients. We will create: • Basic White Cream and/or • Basic White Lotion • Cocoa Cream or • Shea Butter Cream • Your Very Own Custom Elemental Protection Lotion • Your Very Own Custom Specialty Cream (such as Anti Ageing, or Eczema, or Healing or? ...) Finally, you will package and label your creations in beautiful cobalt blue jars, metal and glass pump bottles. You'll come away with the lotions, potions and creams you've made, and skills that can serve you for a lifetime for a fraction of the cost of a quality moisturizer! What I enjoyed about the Lotions and Creams course is that Tracey the instructor didn't just know how to make creams and lotions, she knew extensively the products we were working with to a point that she could make recommendations suited to the kind of cream/lotion you wanted to make and all the properties of those products at the drop of a hat. She is so knowledgeable. The course taught me everything I needed to know about making lotions and creams and how to customize them to suit my customers needs and my own. She is truly in the right field of work. We laughed, we learned and we created not just lotions but memories. Sincerely, Stephanie Atwood, Oshawa Ontario, healer and co-owner of natural product company http://www.TranquilityMatters.ca This is the PRE REQUISITE to Lotions II. \*\*This is a paid event, please register via our Luma Page. You need to have a ticket in order to attend this event: https://luma.com/together-toronto-jan-12-2026 **Together Toronto brings the city’s tech community together for an evening of connection, inspiration, and learning** Together Toronto is where the city’s most passionate tech builders, thinkers, and doers come together to learn from the journeys that rarely get shared. At this signature event, we spotlight real stories from founders who’ve navigated the ups, downs, and in-betweens of building in Toronto’s fast-moving tech scene. These aren’t polished pitches or surface-level panels, they’re honest, behind-the-scenes conversations that reveal what it actually takes to launch, scale, and grow a company. You’ll hear from entrepreneurs who’ve taken bold bets, faced unexpected challenges, and found creative ways to move forward. Their stories offer more than inspiration - they deliver lessons, frameworks, and insights that can change how you approach your own work. Whether you're starting your first venture, scaling a team, or simply curious about how Canadian leading companies are built, this event is for you. This event is about more than just listening, it’s about connecting. You’ll be in a room full of founders, investors, operators, and future collaborators who believe in the power of community. It’s a chance to meet the people building what's next, share ideas, and be part of something bigger than yourself. **Featured Speakers** [Benjamin Alarie](https://www.linkedin.com/in/balarie/), Founder and CEO of [Blue J](https://www.bluej.com/) [Shirley Zhong](https://www.linkedin.com/in/shirley-zhong-yueming), Co-Founder & COO of [Xatoms](https://www.xatoms.com/) [Kristine Beese](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristinebeese/), Founder and CEO of [Untangle Money](http://www.untangle.money/) [Jason Ramsay](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jason-b-ramsay-538910197/), Founder of [Nodalli](https://nodalli.com/)

Wednesday evening Mindfulness at Unity of Gaithersburg.
Wednesday evening Mindfulness at Unity of Gaithersburg.
Mindfulness Meditation group practice every Wednesday evening at Unity of Gaithersburg. Mindfulness practice is not about achieving some special state of mind; it is more about noticing the experience you are having without trying to change it. This interesting video suggests why you might sit and watch your mind wander off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmmBF8eTl18 This noticing tends to shift your nervous system from a 'fight-or-flight' state to a more relaxed and receptive state. In this receptive mental state, you begin to see your own experience differently and, over time, see other people and the world differently. Also, it is good for you: "the effect of regular meditation on the cortex was so profound that fifty-year-old meditators had a prefrontal cortex that looked like that of a twenty-five-year-old" [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PLRZVTT](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PLRZVTT) Here is an interesting and funny take on meditation by Ajahn Brahm: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR60RRmXeYs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR60RRmXeYs). If you arrive on time, there will be an introduction at the beginning, if you arrive late, find a chair and join us. There will be some discussion after. This is a free event, but contributions to the church's expenses are welcome. You can just show up this Wednesday or subsequent Wednesdays. Tarot Time!
Tarot Time!
***We have now resumed in-person meetups!*** We are a group of tarot practitioners and enthusiasts who are looking to practice and expand our tarot skills through both collaborative discussion and hands-on practice. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level, even if you've never picked up a deck in your life! Each month we'll have a topic to discuss together, and when that discussion wraps up the session is opened up to any questions people might have about tarot. We also often break up into smaller groups to practice giving readings to each other. (The giving and receiving of readings are both completely voluntary, so please don't feel pressured!) Having a tarot deck is not required. (If you're looking for recommendations for a first deck, we'll be more than happy to help!) Some have found it helpful to bring pen and paper for notes as well. No fee, however snacks, donations for the tea fund, and gifts of practical items for the shop (toilet paper, paper towels, etc) are always welcome. Use of workshop space agreement at Sticks and Stones: 1. Feel free to arrange and decorate the space before your event, and make sure before you go to leave it as you found it. 2. Hot water and tea are provided by the store and you are welcome to help yourselves. We accept donations in the form of money, tea, paper products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper) dish soap, etc, to help pay for this free service. 3. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks to your event (no alcohol.) It is suggested that you bring any utensils and plates if needed, however we might have some available from previous donations if you forget. 4. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, in all areas of the store. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to take any of the workshops/classes. 5. Sticks and Stones respects each and everyone’s spiritual path; we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexuality, political views, etc. Please be kind and respectful with your discussions, as we have many people from all faiths entering our store during business hours.
