Creative Writing Budapest
Creative Writing Budapest
**This week's venue: Beer People \| Lázár utca 7\, Budapest 1065** We hold a bi-weekly workshop to encourage creative writing where we share pieces of creative writing and solicit feedback from the other attendees. Some members also use the forum to find others with whom to collaborate, edit work, and/or brainstorm plot, themes, settings, and so forth. And from time to time, we participate in competitions, recite and/or offer material for events organized by other groups. At the moment there is no prompt for this particular meetup. Instead, writers are invited to submit something they have (or are working on) or to craft a short story specifically for the event. Of course, there's no pressure to submit something. Many participants are interested in hearing ideas, questioning the authors, and examining style and technique. Often, we explore other published works as well. The submission guidelines are as follows: 1. limit the piece to 850 words (to give enough time for any other submissions being read at the event); 2. make the text available (though you can read it aloud) for the other attendees. Many authors bring a few printed copies, but one can also pre-post the item on [bpcw.slack.com](http://bpcw.slack.com) in the "_NextMeetup" channel (write me at eahofer (at) gmail if you aren't a member already); 3. have a question in mind for the group about the submission; and, 4. If offering something from a longer work, be prepared to give a little bit of background first.

30\. Magyar Atlassian Meetup Mondjam vagy mutassam? Hogyan teremthetünk valódi értéket a projektekben változó környezetben? **PMI-minősítéssel rendelkezők számára a rendezvényen való részvétel 1 PDU pontot jelent!** A 30. Whether you’re doing battle daily in one of these spaces or are just curious about ways to improve performance, meet us in Reston for an in-person discussion on bare metal cloud architecture. You’ll meet our product lead, James MacKenzie, who will walk through how modern bare metal serves as a control plane for hybrid and private cloud architectures. **What we will cover** * Ways to leverage bare metal, containers, and orchestration for better performance and predictable economics; * Real-world hybrid, disaster recovery, and data-intensive architectures; * Our approach to eliminating ingress and egress fees. **Who should attend** * Cloud architects and platform engineers; * DevOps professionals and infrastructure leads; * FinOps stakeholders managing data-heavy or hybrid workloads. **Why attend** This is a technical, architecture-first conversation. You will leave with a clearer understanding of high-availability cloud infrastructure and how organizations are scaling cost-effectively. Food and drinks will be provided. Space is limited to keep the discussion interactive.
Blackout Phone Free Hangout at Hush Harbor DC (Black Owned!)
Blackout Phone Free Hangout at Hush Harbor DC (Black Owned!)
Join Blackout as we visit Hush Harbor on DC's H Street Corridor as we have a night of convo, games, and retro vibes. It's a Black-owned cocktail bar focusing on interesting drinks and inspiring connections. If you're not familiar with Hush Harbor, the concept is that it is a phone free cocktail bar. They put your phone in one of those cases but you can still access it in a pinch. More info: https://hushharbor.co/#info Remember when we could hold conversations without needing to refer to cellphones? House phones? Numbers on napkins? Remembering people's names? Printing out MapQuest directions? We're going back to that time. We'll have some conversational topics and games that we'll play as we get to know each other. Hold your spot by sending $5 via CashApp ($Blackoutbaltimore). This'll go towards the Polaroid film--yep, it's a throwback kind of night. And, yes, I'm actually bringing a Polaroid for the group shots. Can't wait to see you there! \-\-\- **About Black Everywhere®** Black Everywhere is a global community bringing together Black professionals, creatives, couples and singles alike for brunches, mixers, hikes, wellness, and cultural outings. Whether you're looking for connection, networking, or just fun, you'll find it here.
NOVA Code & Coffee [160] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code & Coffee [160] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. People of all skill levels are invited. The concept is simple, bring a laptop and ideas, we'll provide the coffee and donuts! Here's how it works: 1. At 10:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc) 2. For the rest of the day, folks work in the communal space on their projects providing one another help and conversation as needed. Oh and they usually drink coffee and tea too! That's it! Hope to see you there! **Location** Our hosts are the Fairfax City Economic Development Building: [10300 Eaton Pl, Fairfax, VA 22030](https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=d7298231ca2df594df822003f9a93517c788fceefe1fcbb79c8976696e341bc6JmltdHM9MTc1MzIyODgwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=180d0745-3b7f-69a1-23a2-11433a7868e5&u=a1L21hcHM_Jm1lcGk9MTA5fn5Ub3BPZlBhZ2V-QWRkcmVzc19MaW5rJnR5PTE4JnE9RmFpcmZheCUyMENpdHklMjBFY29ub21pYyUyMERldmVsb3BtZW50JnNzPXlwaWQuWU44NzN4ODI4MTk2Mjg0NTk5MDM4MTU0MiZwcG9pcz0zOC44NjE0NDYzODA2MTUyMzRfLTc3LjMwMjE3NzQyOTE5OTIyX0ZhaXJmYXglMjBDaXR5JTIwRWNvbm9taWMlMjBEZXZlbG9wbWVudF9ZTjg3M3g4MjgxOTYyODQ1OTkwMzgxNTQyfiZjcD0zOC44NjE0NDZ-LTc3LjMwMjE3NyZ2PTImc1Y9MSZGT1JNPU1QU1JQTA&ntb=1) Conference Room A- Large, Floor 1 This is a new venue for us, so give us some time to get more details about it. Ski/Snowboard - Liberty Mountain + Hot Pot Hero
Ski/Snowboard - Liberty Mountain + Hot Pot Hero
Winter calls for a different mountain experience - let's trade in our hiking boots for ski boots and hit the slopes! We will meet at North Bethesda Metro (previously named White Flint) at 8AM and carpool to the resort. Drive time is about 1 hour and 30mins - Please post a comment below if you are willing to drive. Carpooling saves the environment and makes friends. ## **Mountain Facts** * **Terrain Difficulty:** 35% green runs, 40% blue runs, 25% black runs * **Lifts:** 8 * **Trails:** 16, 2 terrain parks * **Highest Elevation:** 1,190 Feet * **Lift Tickets:** Epic Season Pass or Single-Day Lift Ticket: https://www.libertymountainresort.com/plan-your-trip/lift-access/tickets.aspx * **Parking:** North Bethesda Metro Parking Garage **Trip Details:** Let's give Liberty a shot this time. Liberty is a small ski resort, but with a drive less than 2 hours, it's easy to get to the mountain and back home in time for dinner. Liberty is thought of as being more beginner friendly than the nearby Whitetail, but does offer several large terrain parks. This is not designed as a trip to help with ski/snowboard instruction. However, Liberty does offer both lessons and rentals. On the way back, I plan to stop at a hot pot restaurant called Hot Pot Hero in Gaithersburg, MD. Address is 100 Paramount Park Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. **WHAT TO BRING:** * Ski/snowboard gear (rentals available onsite) * Lift ticket or season pass (available onsite) * Warm layers, gloves, and goggles (available onsite) * Helmet - optional (available onsite) * Snacks, water, and electrolytes (available onsite) * Steez **LIFT TICKETS:** You will need to either purchase an Epic Season Pass or single-day lift tickets. The ticket prices vary, but I recommend purchasing them well in advance as they can (and do) sell out. For more info: https://www.libertymountainresort.com/plan-your-trip/lift-access/tickets.aspx **LIABILITY NOTICE:** Please remember that this group operates under the common adventurer model. We are a group of friends and volunteers organizing trips for fun and shared experience. Participants are expected to be familiar with best snowboarding/skiing practices and choose trails that align with their physical abilities and experience. Organizers and members are not liable for any injuries, loss, or damage to persons or property arising from group activities. By attending this event, you agree to assume all risks associated with the activity. For more information on the common adventurer model, please see [Ron Watters' definition](https://www.ronwatters.com/CADefine.htm). If you believe you may be lost on the mountain, follow the advice of the [US Forest Service](https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit/know-before-you-go/if-you-get-lost). See you on the slopes!
