You’ll discover simple, effective methods to improve understanding, confidence, and performance—whether at school, work, or online. Teachers and parents often see rapid improvements in both behaviour and results.
Yes, it *is* possible to improve study performance—in just **five easy steps**.
If you can’t attend in person, online options are available.
**Join us and learn how to study effectively—once and for all.**

When learning clicks, confidence follows.

We welcome anyone who wants to get some writing done in a collegial, supportive, encouraging environment. You don’t have to be from University of Melbourne (you don’t have to be from university at all!).
We use the Pomodoro method, which means we write in timed intervals of silence, then chat and catch up for 5 mins and repeat the cycle. Arrive when you like, leave when you like. The goal is to keep our writing projects progressing and reduce the isolation that can be part of the academic and/or writing life.

Personal Values & Integrity, The Importance Of.
If you are honest with yourself and with others, you can't help but do well in life. A relationship exists between your own self-respect - how you look at your own personal values - and how successful you are. A person who is honest, outspoken and respects himself will get more done and accomplish his goals far easier than someone who is dishonest, introverted and withdrawn.
Now you will learn the underlying reasons why people withdraw from others and life or feel a loss of personal integrity.

🔞 Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older.
📢 Please do not advertise other events or groups.
😅 Don’t be a social octopus! – Give people space to chat with others. Please don't be clingy.
🚗 We don't allow carpooling due to safety incidents/our public liability insurance not covering motor related accidents.
💰 No sales pitches! – No selling, no MLMs, no pyramid schemes, no “life-changing mentorship” offers—let’s keep things scam-free.
📸 Cameras welcome, but… – please refrain from taking photos of our members for privacy reasons.
By joining this event, you’re giving us a virtual pinky promise 🤝 that you’ll follow the rules. Break them, and—poof!—you’re out for good. No second chances, no do-overs. Let’s keep it fun, friendly, and drama-free!

And it costs nothing except time and effort.
Our hikes are all over Greater Melbourne and afar.
Generally our walks will be 2 to 2.5 hours of moderate grade. Those who want to go more quickly can but generally we try to stay as a group and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature together.

Come on a Journey of Self-Discovery
Are you looking for something different, if so, I would like to invite you to come on a healing journey to discover peace and harmony within yourself and life.
If this is of interest to you, the first class is free, as it's an introduction to the explorations of mindfulness/meditation with a spiritual flavour. If you choose to return (no obligation), then a small amount is asked of $5 per class.
What a wonderful opportunity to explore your physical, emotional, mental and soul bodies and how they are all inter-related and all can be greatly affected with the stresses and challenges of everyday life.
Through engaging with an energetic hygiene process that I facilitate, you will be able to cleanse your energy field on a daily basis.
With the event/class there is a variety being presented each week, always a guided meditation, followed by either reflection on self-care through working with a variety of gentle approach resources (which will be given to you to take, if you choose), as well as, listening to different short mindfulness cds.
All you need to bring is yourself and a crystal, if you like.

We’ll provide reflection prompts to guide your discussions. This month we will take the time to set and share intentions for 2026 together.
This is a space to connect authentically, think intentionally, and feel supported by others who care about growth and alignment - both professionally and personally.

Wednesday evening Mindfulness at Unity of Gaithersburg.
Mindfulness Meditation group practice every Wednesday evening at Unity of Gaithersburg.
Mindfulness practice is not about achieving some special state of mind; it is more about noticing the experience you are having without trying to change it.
This interesting video suggests why you might sit and watch your mind wander off.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmmBF8eTl18
This noticing tends to shift your nervous system from a 'fight-or-flight' state to a more relaxed and receptive state. In this receptive mental state, you begin to see your own experience differently and, over time, see other people and the world differently.
Also, it is good for you: "the effect of regular meditation on the cortex was so profound that fifty-year-old meditators had a prefrontal cortex that looked like that of a twenty-five-year-old"

Here is an interesting and funny take on meditation by Ajahn Brahm:
If you arrive on time, there will be an introduction at the beginning, if you arrive late, find a chair and join us. There will be some discussion after.
This is a free event, but contributions to the church's expenses are welcome.
You can just show up this Wednesday or subsequent Wednesdays.

Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Join our partners Watermark Woods Native Plants, Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL), and Birch Tree Bookstore for the Read! Plant! Grow! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting we’ll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation’’s lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.
You can either buy the book from Birch Tree Bookstore or contact Allison Forbes at [Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov](mailto:Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov) to borrow a copy of the book at the library. There are two ways to participate: attend the event online via the library website or [sign up to participate in person at Birch Tree Bookstore](https://www.birchtreebookstore.com/event-details/read-plant-grow-2026-02-24-18-30).
