Sunday boardgame meetup
Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day. **IMPORTANT!** **The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.** Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested. Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.

Let’s play... Mothership / The Skeletons / Reactors and Romance
Let’s play... Mothership / The Skeletons / Reactors and Romance
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination. 🎭 **This week's facilitators:** * 🚀 **Axel** with another mission that will likely end in horror in *Mothership*. The Vagnerov Outback lies at the extreme edge of human interstellar expansion, far out in the black where the stars grow thin and the colonists huddle beneath their domes, never quite sure if the night holds more than simple darkness. What will the freelance troubleshooters of pinward Solutions Independent Contractors discover this time? * 💀 **Emil** flipping the script on the classic dungeon crawl in *The Skeletons*, in which you'll play guardians cursed to spend eternity defending a tomb. You stand vigilant before the sarcophagus without thought or breath-such is your compulsion. You do not remember your name and still you watch. The flesh has fallen off your bones and still you watch. And then one day there is light and motion and you weigh your bearded axe and raise your shield, lusting for the fray, eager to measure your skill against these tomb-robbing children so full of blood. * 🤖Richard guiding hot-shot mech pilots in *Reactors and Romance*, a rules-light, narrative-focused, one-shot-oriented RPG featuring mechs and flirting. As you pilot your giant mech, the reactor generates heat and the strain on your mech builds up. But pushing your mech to its limits also increases your charisma... *** Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin)).

River Liffey, Chapelizod & Phoenix Park walk
River Liffey, Chapelizod & Phoenix Park walk
This coming Sunday (18th January) we're having another walk - along the banks of the River Liffey to Chapelizod and back through Phoenix Park. From the meeting point we will walk to the nearby gardens of the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham and then to the War Memorial Park. On leaving the park we shall continue along the river (where rowers are often seen practising their sport) to the lovely village of Chapelizod. We shall make a short detour to Chapelizod island, to see the weir which belonged to an old flax mill. We shall then enter Phoenix Park and climb a small hill to the 4,000 year old Knockmaree Dolmen before passing the Wellington Monument on our return to Heuston Station. If it's dry and warm enough, we'll probably have a picnic in the War Memorial Park or in Phoenix Park, so bring some food and drink if you wish. There's a Spar shop in Chapelizod. In Phoenix Park, we have a good chance of seeing deer. Please remember that these lovely animals are still wild animals and can attack when they feel threatened especially when they have young deer. Signs in the park indicate that it's prohibited to feed the deer and recommend to stay at least 50 metres away from them. [Date] 18th January (SUNDAY) [Time] 12:00 \~ 16:00 [Place] Outside Heuston Station in front of the entrance to the Galway Hooker bar. If you're taking the Luas then please make sure you get the Red Line. The meeting point can easily be seen from Heuston Luas stop. We hope to see you there! [Host(s)] Tim (085 718 5658) WhatsApp. FAQs 1. Is there a charge for this event? No, this is a free event. Sometimes we have events that involve a visit to a museum or garden with an entrance fee - but this will be clearly marked in the details 2. Is it OK for people on a short visit to Ireland to join this walk? Yes both visitors and residents alike are welcome to join our walks. 3. How easy/difficult is this walk? Most walking groups would classify this as an easy walk. That said, we will be walking for a few hours (at a fairly leisurely pace) so having a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. 4. Why are there only a limited number of places for this event? To ensure the best possible experience for the people attending it is necessary to limit the numbers, especially as the chosen route may not be straightforward and along narrow paths. 5. Why is it necessary to book on this event if you wish to attend? This is because there are only a limited number of spaces (see point above) and to ensure the fairest allocation of spaces, we kindly request everyone to book a place. It's OK to change your mind about coming but please change your RSVP as soon as you have for someone else to take the place if they wish to. PLEASE NOTE: Walking like many outdoor activities carries an element of risk. People who take part in our meet up activities do so at their own risk and are responsible for their own actions and involvement. If you register to join our meet up walks you agree that you wish to take part in the activities despite these risks. Please wear boots, shoes or runners that you find comfortable, provide suitable support and have good grip as some of the paths may be uneven or steep. It is also recommended to bring water to avoid dehydration. Bring warm clothes and a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of inclement weather. Solo travellers: casual hangout in Dublin (4pm)
Solo travellers: casual hangout in Dublin (4pm)
**No pressure, no plan—just new friends** ✨ Whether you’re visiting Dublin for the first time, recently relocated, or simply love connecting with curious people, this weekly meetup is the perfect way to share stories, make friends, and go explore, as a group, the magic that Dublin has to offer 🇮🇪 **What to expect?** • **Casual & hostless**: no formal host, no schedule: just show up, be yourself, meet fellow solo travellers & expats and decide as a group where you feel like going • **Central meeting point**: it is surrounded by cultural landmarks, cafes, and restaurants, making it a convenient and safe starting point. • **Open to everyone**: whether you are a local, an expat or just passing through for a few days, you are welcome to join. (English is the primary language, but feel free to switch of course) **How to talk with strangers?** (and create meaningful connections) To help you get started, I curated a little game of **[ridiculously good questions](https://www.pierrebonvalot.com/theblog?p=285a9711d7df80d5ac25dd4ef8fe5394&pm=c)** you can ask to break the ice, shift the conversation from dull to intriguing and fun, and eventually create meaningful connection quickly. I hope this helps! **The only things you need to do are…** • Leave a message in the comment section to let the others know that you will actually be there (I don’t want you to end up alone there :) • If you can’t make it anymore, no problem! But please update your RSVP to let the others know • Please be gentle and patient with each other. We all want to make good friends here. **Why join?** • Meet open-minded travellers and locals who are keen to connect, learn and have fun together. • Experience Dublin... as a group. • Be part of a global community that celebrates solo travelling and meaningful connections between foreign and locals. **How does it works?** 1\. Arrive at the meeting spot at the scheduled time\. 2\. Look for other joiners—friendly faces and curious explorers\. 3\. Introduce yourself\, connect with others\, and decide as a group where to go\. **When & where?** • Day: every Sunday • Time: 4:00 PM (meetup sometimes displays a different time zone: but it’s always 4pm local time) • Location: the meeting point is in front of the Luke Kelly Statue **Hostless**: I am setting up the event for you all to meet, but I won't be there myself this time :) **Hi my name is Pierre** I created this Meetup group because I want to see more human connection happen in the real world. I feel many of us want this, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I hope this helps a little bit. I also work as a transformational coach: I help people who feel stuck in their life to reconnect with themselves, create real change and ultimately live more fulfilling lives. 🔗 bento.me/pierrebonvalot

We love Eurogames and have dozens. Guests often bring more. The games we play range from Ticket to Ride (quick and easy to learn and play) to Catan (more rules to get acquainted with, but still easy enough to begin) and Terraforming Mars and on to games with lots of rules and complexity. What we play on any specific ocasion depends on who shows up and what they want to play. Ordinary drinks and snacks will be available. RSVPs will cose at 11pm the day before the party. Dogs: We have two of our own and sometimes have others in foster care. People who do not like dogs may play at tables in the basement while the dogs stay upstairs.
