Annapolis Library Winter Film Series: Shakespeare in Cinema
*The immortal dramas of William Shakespeare have inspired countless motion pictures. In our winter series we’ll view four, all borrowing either characters from a Shakespeare play or whole plots created by him. From a rousing Broadway musical to a classic science fiction film, Shakespeare’s genius continues to play a part in our cinema heritage. Each film is introduced by area cinephile **Ann Glenn** with info about the film’s background, production and followed by a lively Q&A session.*
\*\****Shakespeare in Love (1998) Saturday, January 17, 2pm***

· Wrong · by Quentin Dupieux @ Beatley Library
Oddball Cinema’s Sunday-afternoon shows at Beatley Library in 2026 will be devoted to unfamiliar realities; that is, movies in which the universe simply doesn’t work the way anyone except the filmmakers would expect. In today’s feature, Dolph Springer, a resident in an ordinary house in an ordinary suburb, wakes up one morning to realize that his dog Paul has disappeared. He begins his quest to find Paul logically: he goes out looking for him, asks around if anyone has seen him, etc. Alas, logic will not provide a solution because Dolph lives in a universe where cause-and-effect does not apply. Please refrain from shouting out questions like, “why did that happen?” or “why is that character doing that?” No one will save you from your own confusion, and everyone will be laughing too hard to care anyway.
■ Title — *Wrong*

· The Celebration · @ George Mason Regional Library
*Oddball Cinema Presents: Food for Thought*
*The Celebration* is a biting Danish film laced with dark humor, set during an elegant family gathering at a patriarch’s estate. As guests toast and speeches begin, cracks in the facade of respectability reveal a simmering undercurrent of tension. The film blends discomfort and satire, using awkward laughter and social ritual to explore the absurdity—and pain—of maintaining appearances.

[Verse 1]
Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails
I forgive you, boy, I will prevail
Too much to take, some cross to bear
I'm hiding in the trees with a picnic, she's over there, yeah
[Interlude]
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[Verse 2]
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you, boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning, they're hurting her again
[Chorus]
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
[Post-Chorus]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, and she's alright, yeah, she's my sister
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 3]
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you, boy, but don't leave town

Oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah
