The Conservatory Classic Jazz Band and the Monthly Jam Session
[The Conservatory Classic Jazz Band](http://www.ccjazzband.com/) opens and closes the music, with a Jam Session at the end of each set. All are welcome to sit in or just sit back and enjoy!
[The Conservatory Classic Jazz Band](http://www.ccjazzband.com/) was formed in 2003 to present the sounds of traditional jazz to Washington DC audiences. A seven-piece group, they play New Orleans style, Chicago style, small-group swing, and mainstream. CCJB members include Dave Robinson, leader/cornet/trumpet, Brian Priebe on trombone, Gary Gregg on clarinet/sax, Dan Hall on bass, Jeff Reynolds on guitar/banjo, Brian Alpert on drums. Visit the band's [website](http://www.ccjazzband.com/) for additional information.
The PRJC Monthly Jam Session is held at [Alfio's La Trattoria](https://alfios.com/) in Chevy Chase. There is plenty or room for you and your friends. We could fit 100 people in there. That said, we do recommend, if you want a table for your group, arrive early. We will get you in, but can't promise seating groups together if the space has filled up.
[Alfio's](https://alfios.com/) has free valet parking (tips are appreciated). Street parking is free but unobtainable. There is a full [menu](https://alfios.com/dinner.shtml) and bar.
We welcome suggestions for possible event venues anywhere in the DMV. Our requirements include space for at least 70 people, plenty of parking, and a conveniently accessible location; near Metro is a plus.
Admission:
Non-Jammers (PRJC members $10, non-members $15), Youth & Jammers (Free). If you play, you don't pay!
Cash, checks or PayPal at the door, or [in advance on Eventbrite.](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-prjc-monthly-trad-jazz-jam-featuring-the-conservatory-classic-jazz-band-tickets-1975363226586?aff=ebdsoporgprofile)
Youth Jam for Kids (6-12)
Every Second Sunday of the Month from 1-2 pm EST
In this class Mari Carlson helps kids learn to play music together. Kids have the opportunity to play the tunes they are learning in your private lessons with others - and learn new songs from others. Importantly kids learn how to collaborate, communicate, create and play well with others in a jam session. Mari facilitates a fun and supportive environment that encourages flexibility, experimentation, and listening.
Parents and older siblings with accompanying instruments are welcome to sit in and support the jam.
$30/session. Come every month or just once. Who knows - maybe you’ll meet future bandmates…

Chez Joey - Curtain at 2PM
Join us for *Chez Joey* at Arena Stage on Sunday, February 8 at 2PM.
Our 4-ticket block in Left Orchestra Row I is full. I have Center Orchestra I-110 available and Left Orchestra H-13 available, and I can also get a ticket block in the Mezzanine (sorry, but the Orchestra just has solo seats at this point).
The year is 1940-something, and Chicago’s night scene is sizzling. Enter Joey Evans. A slick-talking, velvet-voiced songster with dreams bigger than the bandstand. But in a city where the right connections mean everything, he is caught between a bright-eyed chorus girl and a wealthy widow who can bankroll his big break—for a price. As the lights dim and the music swells, Joey’s got a choice to make: play it straight or risk it all for the spotlight. This classic Rodgers and Hart score, including “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “What Is a Man?,” and “I Could Write a Book,” now includes “This Can’t Be Love” and “The Lady Is a Tramp,” among others. Co-directed by Tony Award-winning choreographer Savion Glover and actor, director, and producer Tony Goldwyn, the stakes are high, the music is hot, and the game of romance and ambition never sounded so good.

Circlesinging Together ** Elwood Smith Community Center, Rockville **
We are meeting in person at Elwood Smith Community Center, Rockville.
\*\*\*
The community-singing event where where everything's made up and the point — to sing for our lives — matters.
Our leaders will teach you parts to sing for spontaneously-composed choral pieces. We play a variety of listening/music/singing games, and create safe opportunities for participants to improvise as little or as much as they might like.
Good for all skill levels, shower-singers to seasoned pros, no sheet-music-reading required.
This month we welcome special guest and co-leader [Micah Hendler](http://micahhendler.com/), a musical changemaker building community through song - with Palestinian and Israeli youth in the [Jerusalem Youth Chorus](http://jerusalemyouthchorus.org/), here in the DMV through [Community Sings at Levine Music](https://www.levinemusic.org/performance/community-sings/), and more.
\*\*\*
We usually meet on the second Sunday of the month, and will continue to meet in-person as long as it makes sense. We encourage and provide masks.
We will also plan on continuing our Zoom circles from time to time. So please check the day before/day of the meetup each month to confirm date & details.
This world needs more song; join in the fun, and be the music you want to hear in the world.

Lorca's LA CASA DE BERNARDA ALBA (The House of Bernarda Alba)
Experience GALA's contemporary staging of the modern classic ***La casa de Bernarda Alba (The House of Bernarda Alba)*** by Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca. Directed by José Zayas and with original music by Koki Lortkipanidze, the play explores themes of female oppression, sexual repression, and the conflict between tradition and modernity, all universal topics that resonate with audiences today.
García Lorca’s ***The House of Bernarda Alba*** brims with tension, desire, and rebellion as five sisters are forced into strict mourning for their father under the iron rule of their mother, Bernarda. In this electrifying new production, passions simmer behind closed doors, secrets spark dangerous rivalries, and the pressure of a house built on control threatens to explode. This contemporary staging infuses Lorca’s classic with a sensuous, modern pulse and a dark Gothic mystery, illuminating why Bernarda Alba remains as urgent and thrilling today as ever.
CAST: Luz Nicolás as Bernarda, Evelyn Rosario Vega as Poncia, María Coral as Adela, María del Mar Rodríguez as Angustias, Giselle González as Martirio, Anna Malavé as Magdalena, Alicia Kaplan an as María Josefa, and Ixchel as Amelia.
PERFORMANCES: February 5 through March 1, 2026. The production is presented in Spanish with English surtitles, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
Community Night is Thursday, Feberuary 5 at 8 pm.
Press Night and Noche de GALA, which includes a post-performance reception with the creative team and cast, is Saturday, February 7 at 8 pm.
TICKETS: $50 Premium Center, $45 Orchestra Standard, $35 Orchestra Value, and $25 Balcony Value; $35 Seniors (65+), Military, Teachers, and Groups (10+); $25 25 and Under; Community Night $20; and Noche de GALA: Chosen ticket price + $5 (per person). **[GET TICKETS](https://ci.ovationtix.com/35923/production/1245608)**
