If you want to bring cymbals or any other drum gear, please show up early to set up. Also please be aware that other people are going to play the kit as well.

We haven’t seen them before, but they sound fantastic in their videos! Pronounced "Tune-a-matics”, this unique group is a combination of two lead vocalist bandleaders, each from their own well established local band. Their friendship brought them together to enjoy the opportunity to "downsize" and play the songs they love. It adds up to a diversified song list spanning the decades from the 60s through today, and performances that have drawn accolades for their engaging delivery of good songs for good times! Tunematics includes guitarist Scott Butler from Vienna's Party Band, "Fat Chance" and Tim Wynne, veteran bassist from DC's legendary band "Sinbad" and "The Odyssey Band of DC".

Come volunteer with us refurbishing donated bicycles so that they can be used again by the community! This event is open to new volunteers and existing volunteers. No mechanical experience is necessary. **Note: The warehouse location is in the alley behind 1502. Look for a large grey garage door with a regular size grey door next to it.** That's where we will be. Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian to accompany them to their first volunteer experience and sign a liability waiver. Volunteers under 16 need a parent or guardian to accompany them at all times while volunteering with Vélocity.

**60’s Garage & Soul vs. contemporary Punk** It’s a Saturday night double bill at the TP VFW featuring GoModGo!, a 10 piece band playing 60s garage and soul, and Apollo 66, the house band at 1st Saturday’s Garage Punk Rock Night at the Cissel-Saxon American Legion Hall in downtown Silver Spring. The McHenry Sisters food truck offers pub grub for those nighttime munchies. The bands start at 730 and I'll be at the bar.

A seven-piece group, they play New Orleans style, Chicago style, small-group swing, and mainstream. Friday night Greenbelt International Folk Dancing has gone "virtual". As we all practice good social distancing, many in our folk dance community are feeling the absence of our usually scheduled local dances. In response, please join us for the Greenbelt Virtual Folk Dance Session. Let’s keep dancing! • Connect and dance in our own homes • Watch hosts leading familiar dances • See each other; listen and dance to our favorites How: We will be using the ZOOM video conferencing app to share music and live videos of the leaders and each other. This can be used on a desktop, laptop, or smartphone. What to Expect: Your hosts are Linda Mansdorf, Vita Hollander, Ben Hole, and John Robinson. Collectively they will play 25-30 dances, which should approximate the number of dances normally done on a Friday night in-person event. The hosts will do a quick teaching or demonstration of the steps to some of the dances that may be less familiar to you or just as a refresher, but the session is not designed as a workshop, so the majority of the evening will be spent playing dances that many of us already know and love to do.
