The address is 1322 Prince St Alexandria, VA 22314.
Our entrance is located on the side of the building, parallel to West St. **Street parking is available and additional parking is located at Shiloh Baptist church, spaces 3,5,7,9.** The church is located across the street from the studio, on the corner of Duke St. and West St.
Innovation at Your Fingertips...DC Makerspace Tour
Since we're looking for **brand innovation** and **out-of-the-box thinking**, I wanted to start off with the Washington DC MLK Library Makerspace, known as The Labs. A makerspace, is a unique place for crafts, high tech manufacturing including 3-D Printers, textile machinery and more. It's a great place for entrepreneurs to use the technology and/or have a business. It's also a great place for people who are tinkerers.
This event is a chance to take a **tour of The Labs.** The **tour limit is 15** people, and so, if you're interested, please sign up. I have worked with the Labs just to confirm our tour.
The Labs \| District of Columbia Public Library requirements:
**Appropriate and Safe Attire**
To remain safe around Fabrication Lab machinery please avoid wearing loose clothing. Pull back your long hair or beard, necklaces or scarves, and wear closed toe shoes.
**Bag and Personal Items Guidelines**
Up to two handheld items and two large bags (no larger than 36 inches)

SOLD OUT-Profs & Pints DC: Queer Country
**This talk has completely sold out in advance and no door tickets will be available.**
[Profs and Pints DC](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“Queer Country,”** on the long, often-hidden presence of LGBTQ+ performers in country music, with Tanya Olson, lecturer in English and scholar of gender and sexuality studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/dc-queer-country ](https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/dc-queer-country) .]
Although country music is often thought of as conservative, rural, and straight, queer artists have always been part of its story.
Learn about the important role that queer artists, their ideas, and their experiences have played in country music with Tanya Olson, a cultural critic whose recent work explores the intersection of country music, identity, and tradition.
She’ll talk about queer artists across generations, describing how they are hidden and what it means to stand in the circle of tradition without being seen. She’ll explore how queerness shows up in the songs, stories, and sounds of country music even when it isn’t named, and also what’s at stake when those threads are left out of the history we tell.
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of country music’s past, as well as a sharper eye for who’s been missing from the picture all along. You’ll gain an appreciation for why inclusion in country radio and the Grand Ole Opry matters, as well as an understanding of how a queer presence might strengthen, rather than threaten, country music's legacy.
Olson’s latest book of poetry, *Born Backwards*, builds on the language and imagery of country music to ask who gets remembered and why. Learning from her will make for a memorable evening. (Door: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)

Open AI Creativity Lab - Drop-In Working Session
**AI-Supported Creative Exploration**
*For Unassuming Intuitives & Practicing Creatives*
This meetup is part of AI as Creative Partner — A Practice Group, a set of open, non-sequential creative labs you can join at any point.
We use AI as a thinking partner—not to replace your ideas, but to help surface and shape them without overthinking or pressure.
You bring fragments—ideas, impulses, unfinished concepts. With AI as a supportive collaborator, we explore how those fragments can become clearer, more coherent, and ready to share if and when you want to.
No technical background is required. If you can talk or type, that's enough to work with AI here.
This session is intentionally low-commitment and flexible:
* Arrive late or leave early
* Work quietly or observe
* Ask questions, or simply watch the process unfold
There's no presentation and no expectation to finish anything. Showing up as you are is enough.
**OPEN AI CREATIVITY LAB - DROP-IN WORKING SESSION**
This is an open, low-pressure creative lab for people curious about working with AI rather than using it as a tool.
There's no presentation and no requirement to arrive on time or stay the whole session. Some people work quietly. Some observe. Some ask questions.
I'll be working on my own creative projects using AI as a thinking partner—you're welcome to do the same, or simply watch how the process unfolds.
**NOTE**: This is the first time I'm running this format. I've scheduled two hours for this inaugural session to give plenty of room for settling in, orienting newcomers, and genuine working time. I'll be here working on my own projects regardless of attendance. If you show up, great. If not, I'm still getting work done.
**HOW TO FIND US**
Look for the room with the door open on the lower level. Look for the guy with the screen projector and ambient light and sound. Feel free to just walk in and settle.
Mindful Beginnings: Art & Creativity in the New Year
**What to Expect:**
Join us for a relaxed, supportive gathering where we'll create together, share our process, and connect mindfully. No art experience necessary, all levels and all creative expressions welcome!
**What to Bring:**
Please bring your own art materials and supplies, whatever you enjoy working with!
**Ideas for materials:** sketchbooks, journals, pastels, crayons, markers, colored pencils, collage materials, yarn, lego, diamond art, iPad or tablet for digital drawing, or anything else that calls to you. Bring paper or surfaces to work on as well. There's no right or wrong, just bring what feels good! 🙂
**What we'll do:**
**6:00 pm:** Arrive, get settled, grab a drink/snack, and find a spot
**6:10 pm:** Set out your supplies, take a breath, and ease in
**6:15–7:30 pm:** Create, chat, unwind, and follow the good vibes
**7:30 pm:** Gentle wrap-up with
*Come/leave whenever, this is relaxed and flexible gathering!*
**Location:**
Whole Foods, cafe area (front of the store), 4501 Market Commons Dr, Fairfax, VA 22033. Look for the table with art supplies!
This is a social, low-key meetup, not a formal class, and there will be no instruction.

Tarot Time!
***We have now resumed in-person meetups!***
We are a group of tarot practitioners and enthusiasts who are looking to practice and expand our tarot skills through both collaborative discussion and hands-on practice. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level, even if you've never picked up a deck in your life!
Each month we'll have a topic to discuss together, and when that discussion wraps up the session is opened up to any questions people might have about tarot. We also often break up into smaller groups to practice giving readings to each other. (The giving and receiving of readings are both completely voluntary, so please don't feel pressured!)
Having a tarot deck is not required. (If you're looking for recommendations for a first deck, we'll be more than happy to help!) Some have found it helpful to bring pen and paper for notes as well.
No fee, however snacks, donations for the tea fund, and gifts of practical items for the shop (toilet paper, paper towels, etc) are always welcome.
Use of workshop space agreement at Sticks and Stones:
1. Feel free to arrange and decorate the space before your event, and make sure before you go to leave it as you found it.
2. Hot water and tea are provided by the store and you are welcome to help yourselves. We accept donations in the form of money, tea, paper products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper) dish soap, etc, to help pay for this free service.
3. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks to your event (no alcohol.) It is suggested that you bring any utensils and plates if needed, however we might have some available from previous donations if you forget.
4. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, in all areas of the store. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to take any of the workshops/classes.
5. Sticks and Stones respects each and everyone’s spiritual path; we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexuality, political views, etc. Please be kind and respectful with your discussions, as we have many people from all faiths entering our store during business hours.
