Let's get weird and bendy together. See you there!
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Meetup #167
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) ♥️
Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies?
**Then you should join us!**
We meet every Sunday. It’s important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them.
Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds
* writers
* camera operators
* editors
* actors
* sound recorders
* composers
* gaffers
* producers
We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us.
**Important information**:
*To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*
Bouldering Session
Have you always wanted to learn bouldering but never had the right company? Or are you an experienced boulderer who just wants to find boulder-buddies? If yes, this is the right event for you.
We are going to meet inside "urban apes Basement Boulderstudio", close to S Anhalter Bahnhof, also not far from Potsdamer Platz. If you have never been there, you will need to sign up with them, which will take a bit of time. After that, **you can find us on the couches near the lockers (not in front of the reception), next to a red smiley**. When you enter the actual gym, enter the hall by turning left immediately - you are walking towards them. We will start warming up around 11:10, so everyone has enough time to arrive and get changed before that.
***\*\*\**** *Spots are limited, so please update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance if you won't be joining. **NO-SHOWs ARE NOT COOL \*\*\****
We enter the gym at 11:00, if you are late, you will need to look for us inside.
IMPORTANT: they only accept cards as a payment method. No cash. One day ticket will cost you 13,90 EUR (10,90 EUR if you are a student, free if Urban Sports Club).
**What to bring: well, first of all, a good mood.**
But you could also bring
* climbing shoes if you have any. If not, you can rent them there, no worries. They cost 3,50 EUR.
* a lock (for the locker).
* chalk. You won't need that if you are a beginner. Renting is possible.
* water.
* extra clothes. It's quite chalky there and humans sweat, not the best mix, don't you think? :D
Please, note: the organizer is not responsible for anything, including injuries. A basic introduction will be provided.
Women's Yoga: cycle awareness
Women's Yoga is a gentle, nourishing practice designed to support the health of the female body. The classes follow a cycle-aware approach, honoring the natural changes in hormones, energy levels, and emotional states throughout the month.
Each session begins with a short guided meditation to settle the mind, followed by a soft, flowing yoga practice and a deeply relaxing closing rest. The movements and postures are carefully chosen to support the female organs, pelvic floor, hips, and lower body, helping to create balance, strength, and ease.
This practice is intuitive and permission-based. You're invited to move at your own rhythm, in tune with your cycle and how you feel on the day. Breathwork plays an important role, supporting the nervous system and hormonal balance.
Women's Yoga offers a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and build a deeper sense of awareness, acceptance, and trust in your natural cycles.
Come as you are.
Bring your own mat or use one of ours. Please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in. The door will be closed once class begins, and late entry will not be possible.
Pitch and Planning Session # 55 - FREE EVENT
The next **Pitch and Planning Session** will be on **Feb 15th at 19:00.** We are super looking forward to hearing your pitches and watching you meet people ready to help you make your films a reality in the really real world!
📍The event is located at **House of Music** in RAW Gelande, Revalerstr 99, 10245 Berlin . A very large and amazing space that we are now calling home.
For those who are new, our Pitch and Planning Session is a monthly English language event held here in Berlin for people who have an idea for a film and would like to pitch it, as well as those people who are eager to work on films. It's all about getting films made.
If you have a film idea that is burning a hole in your brain, tell the people in the audience your story idea and hopefully you will meet people who can help you make your idea into a reality!
This event is also for people who want to help out in all aspects of filmmaking to help make these pitches happen. So if your passion is camera, sound, hair and makeup, writing, lighting, fighting, or anything that could help, you are always welcome. Whether you're new to filmmaking or experienced and want to work on something cool and creative, no matter what your area of expertise/interest is, this is for you!
Be sure to show up to either pitch your idea or be ready to listen to some interesting pitches from excited people and potentially help someone make their film. Let's make some cool shit!
If you still want more information you can head on over to our website:
*https://berlinfilmcommunity.com/pitch_and_planning/*
I have been a part of making some of these pitched projects into real world movies and I have always had a blast.

## This session
Let go of script.
What happens when you stop trying to be clever, and simply respond?
This session invites you into a playful exploration. Guided, interactive, and open-ended. You’ll be offered simple prompts and situations that unfold moment by moment, shaped by the group rather than a fixed plan.
The exact form stays a surprise. What’s certain is a light, well-held group space where you can experiment, react, and build something together.. without pressure to perform, be funny, or get it right.
No experience needed. You can jump in, take a step back, or observe when needed. Participation is always opt-in.
***
## **Today's guide**
Today’s session is held by a Berlin-based artist and facilitator working across live performance and group-based creative work. He has led sessions for institutions such as DIE GORILLAS and the Berliner Volkshochschule, and regularly works with both performers and non-performers.
His approach is less about instruction and more about attunement, sensing the group, responding in the moment, and creating a space that feels playful, human, and low-pressure.

## ****Practical notes
* **Clothing**: Comfortable clothing recommended. We’ll be indoors; bring a warm layer.
* **Beverages**: Light beverages provided (please eat beforehand). You might want to bring your own water bottle. Strictly no alcohol allowed.
* **Health & pregnancy:** Any involved movement is gentle and voluntary.
* **Accessibility:** Ground floor, wheelchair accessible.
* **Bring a +1:** You can purchase a ticket for friends via Luma or they can book their own ticket separately.
* **Children**: This session is designed for adults. We don’t have facilities or supervision in place for children, so we kindly ask parents to arrange childcare in advance.
***
## **Compatibility**
This session is for you, if you ...
* are curious about improvisation without stage pressure
* enjoy playful interaction and responding in the moment
* like experiences that feel social, light, and exploratory
* appreciate clear guidance with freedom to opt in or out
* feel okay warming up gradually in a group setting
No experience needed. Participation is always voluntary.

* If we can reassign your spot to someone on the waitlist, we’re happy to refund you.
If you join a session and need to step out early for a serious or personal reason, please let one of the facilitators or our empathy angel know. In such cases, we’re open to **reimbursing your ticket**, even after the session has started.

## ****What is Uncommon Club?
Uncommon Club creates guided group sessions built around shared novelty, doing something unfamiliar together, in a way that feels safe, human, and intentional.
We believe that when people step into a new experience at the same time, without knowing exactly what will happen, habits soften, curiosity opens, and connection becomes more natural.
That’s why Uncommon Club sessions are:
* carefully guided and consent-led,
* designed around presence rather than performance,
* and kept partly a surprise.
***
## What Uncommon Club **is**, and **isn’t**
**Uncommon Club is:**
* ✅ A guided, facilitator-led group experience
* ✅ Focused on curiosity, embodiment, and human connection
* ✅ Structured, consent-led, and psychologically safe
**Uncommon Club is not:**
* ❌ A party or club night
* ❌ An intense fitness class
* ❌ A networking or dating event
* ❌ A sexual setting
* ❌ Therapy or counselling
***
## How our sessions work
Every Uncommon Club session is carefully guided and unfolds in phases
**Phase 1️⃣ — Arrival**
Arrive, settle, and land in the space and group.
**Phase 2️⃣ — Warm-up**
Gentle invitations help you arrive in your body and the moment.
**Phase 3️⃣ — Exploration**
The heart of the session. Playful, embodied and surprising.
**Phase 4️⃣ — Reflection**
We slow things down and let the experience settle.
**Phase 5️⃣ — Connection**
A clear closing moment, with space to linger.. or leave quietly.

Uncommon Club is for any adult. You don't need to be a performer or social butterfly, just someone open to exploring horizons beyond the everyday.

That's fine. A "no" is as bold as a "yes". You can always step back or observe instead of joining in, and this will be explained and emphasised at the start of every experience.

Our guides are trained in spaceholding and use a unique event process to make connection flow easily and naturally. It's structured so that everyone feels included without pressure.

## Evolving our concept and pricing
We want to share a small evolution in how Uncommon Club sessions are offered.
Until now, every Uncommon Club session was a complete surprise. Going forward, we’ll work with a mix of Open sessions **⚪️**, where the format and facilitator are shared in advance and Surprise sessions **🟣** where you step in without knowing what will unfold.
Our intention remains unchanged: creating spaces for you to feel human again. During our events you enter with curiosity, trust the process and experience something new. This change simply offers more choice in how you step in.
You may also have noticed a change in our pricing. We’ve decided to lower prices for future sessions to make it easier to return and easier to say yes, while keeping the same level of care and attention in the space.
Because you signed up at the original price, we want to acknowledge that. If you’d like to join a future session, just reach out to us and we’ll make sure you receive a **50% discount**.
Thank you for being there from the beginning.
Your Uncommon Club team,
Joost, Oktay and Jonel
