đˇ A Single Grape Experience â Blind Wine Tasting
Join us for a relaxed and curious **blind wine tasting** focused on a single grape varietal â and how it expresses itself across different regions of the world.
Each participant is invited to **bring one bottle made from the same grape variety** (for example: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, Riesling, etc.), sourced from **any region or country**. The wine should have a price of 15⏠or more.
The aim of the evening will be to explore how **terroir, climate, and winemaking style** influence aroma, flavour, and structure â all without knowing whatâs in the glass.
Wines will be tasted blind to encourage open discussion, shared discovery, and fresh perspectives, regardless of experience level. This Wine event is not about expertise or scoring â itâs about **learning through comparison, conversation, and curiosity**.
**Sean Leaf will be guiding us throughout the evening**, offering gentle prompts and insights to help you decipher the grape, explore key characteristics, and build confidence in your own tasting instincts â in a way thatâs engaging and accessible for everyone.
**How to join us?**
\- sign up to this event
\- then your place will be confirmed AND
\- to secure your spot ***PLEASE*** donate your ***20âŹ*** to the PayPal account (ck.brand@alice-dsl.net)

Whether youâre new to wine or simply enjoy tasting thoughtfully, this evening is designed to be:
* Informal and social
* Curious rather than technical
* Focused on discovery, not judgement
Weâll uncover the bottles together at the end and share insights, surprises, and favourites.
**Come with an open mind, a bottle from a single grape, and a willingness to explore.**
We will also provide some light snacks to enjoy throughout the tasting.

Also blieben die Irrtßmer bestehen.
Responsible AI in HealthCare: Considerations and Opportunities
Our friend **Dmitri Katz**, a 10 years+ long time friend and huge supporter of **STEM4Health**, **G4A**, **Digital Health**, and every **Innovation in Healthcare**, is organizing this event. I highly recommend to attend. Please register at https://luma.com/m47avlhj.
AI is offering new opportunities to address persistent, high-impact societal challenges. In domains where social and human stakes are high, practical value will depend not only on technical performance, but on how well AI systems are aligned with ethical, institutional, and operational realities. Addressing this need requires sustained, cross-disciplinary collaboration grounded in real-world practice. To this end, **ĂTHOS Berlin** is building an interdisciplinary community of founders, researchers, practitioners, domain experts, and policymakers.
âIn this workshop, we will discuss real-world care challenges and the constraints that shape responsible AI use. Participants are invited to contribute practical perspectives.
â**What we aim to produce:**
âThe workshop will produce Challenge Briefs: short documents that describe (a) a concrete care problem, (b) its real-world impact, and (c) the key institutional, ethical, and practical constraints involved. Where it emerges naturally, the briefs may also note open directions for work, such as further research or approaches for AI implementation. The briefs will be published publicly after the event and shared as reference material for future research and innovation.
â**Workshop format (2 hours):**
* âShort, problemâfocused inputs from careâdomain experts, earlyâstage startups, and other workshop attendees.
* âSmall, mixed working groups
* âEach group drafts one brief using a simple structure:
Problem ¡ Impact ¡ Constraints ¡ Directions
* âSharing and discussion
â**Why your participation matters:**
* âHelp ensure that actual constraints shape how AI problems are defined
* âBring institutional, ethical, and operational realities into the discussion early
* âContribute to challenge definitions that shape the communityâs future focus
* âBe acknowledged as a contributing participant in this first workshop
â **What participation could involve:**
* âShare a real-world careâdomain challenge
* âContributing to the drafting group
* âBring a laptop if possible.
âThis is an ĂTHOS community initiative. Participants are welcome to share what they are working on, but the focus will remain on problem framing rather than product pitching. If you have questions or would like to help with the workshop, please let us know.
Warm Regards,
Dmitri Katz

Breathe Free - Consious Breathwork Session in Berlin
\#\#\# Was ist Breathwork?
Conscious Breathwork bedeutet bewusstes atmen.

Blind Date with a Book* Swap @ Anna Blume - special event (*not people dating)
You've seen them in the book shop. You've seen them in the library. You've seen them online.
**The Blind Date with a Book.**
Those shelves of wrapped books with little teasers written on them.
This is the book trend perfect for Valentine's, and perfect for a swapping group like us!
For this special event, please bring a wrapped book. On the front please write:
* the language of the book
* a few short bullet points about the book. Get as creative (or not) as you like, as long as it's a truthful description. I've seen fascinating paragraph versions and also one liners.
* For example: "You will love this book if you love -similar author / general genre / band-singer the book reminded you of / actor who played the lead in the film / etc-". Other examples include writing the first line of the book. Or your favorite line of the book.
Beside that, it's just similarly structured as the "classical" bookswap:
* We put the book(s) we brought down on the tables.
* Each book gets a post-it so people interested would write their names on.
* We browse and discuss the books with one another while sipping coffee or hot chocolate, or eating cake. THIS TIME try to avoid naming the book and author.
* We write our names down on any books weâd like to take home.
* At the end of the evening, negotiate any books that are contended and take a new-to-you book home!
I've mostly only seen the trend at book stores and Libraries and when I just Googled it, saw that a lot of people are totally tricking the wrapping out. Please don't bother going that far unless it would give you great pleasure.
We'll have some newspaper / paper bags on hand if you don't have any wrapping.
***NOTE - this is NOT a person dating event.***
We tried that once as a very optional part of the event and it wasn't fair to the three confused people who were looking for people and not books.
We know of at least one book swap marriage and several other book swap relationships so it happens organically without us pushing for it and making it all awkward :)
Similar to our pleasant swapping post-it format, our expectations below apply to this event as well.
We look forward to swapping with you!
GROUP EXPECTATIONS for PLEASANT SWAPPING
* Please bring a book! It's not that you bring one you take one, but do try your best to bring something.
* Books stay on the tables, open for sharing, until you are ready to leave so that everyone can have a look. We are notably not first come first serve. Please wait until you are leaving to bag the book.
* If two or more people want the only copy of a book, negotiate. Maybe one of you reads it first and then gives it to the others. Or perhaps they have found another book instead. Or leave it to fate and toss a coin. The best part: now you have found somebody whose taste you can really admire. In any case, please don't walk away with a book with several names on it without letting the others know.
These negotiations are fun and easy, so don't shy away from a book because there's already a name on it, and feel free to put your name on as many books as you find interesting. It's not that you bring one you take one; you may take as many as you can negotiate.
* Political discussions with consent: make sure the people you are talking to would like to have a political discussion with you.
* Please respect this space as first and foremost a community for connecting readers over their love of books and reading, stories, and narratives of all sorts. Please be respectful of tastes and opinions.
* If something is bothering you, please reach out to the organizers, and we'll do our best to resolve it.
* Lastly, don't expect your book back. It will find a new home. If you love it, let it go.
**Major LANGUAGES (and genres) of this meetup:** English, German, French, Spanish, Italian; Fiction, Non-Fiction, Serious Reading, Light Fun, âclassics", Krimis, Booker winners, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Self-Help and more. You never know who can read what languages, and there's no accounting for taste.
We are a delightful and international group of readers.
We look forward to swapping with you!

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: The Hidden Cleopatra
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **âThe Hidden Cleopatra,â** an excavation through myth and slander to uncover the real Egyptian queen, with Jacquelyn Williamson, an Egyptologist and associate professor of archaeology and ancient art at George Mason University.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/hidden-cleopatra](https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/hidden-cleopatra) .]
Depictions of Cleopatra are abundant in popular culture. A long list of painters have depicted her, Marilyn Monroe and Kim Kardashian have posed as her, and Vivien Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor famously portrayed her in Hollywood films.
At the end of the day, however, what most of us think we know about Cleopatra is wrong, the product of the ancient Romeâs âfake newsâ and anti-Egypt propaganda.
Learn about the real Cleopatraâand how our understanding of her came to be so distortedâwith Professor Jacquelyn Williamson, scholar of women and power in ancient Egypt, teacher of courses on ancient Egyptian art and archaeology, and author of *Nefertitiâs Sun Temple: A New Cult Complex at Tell el-Amarna.*
Dr. Williamson will walk us through how the first Roman emperor, Octavian, created the distorted image of Cleopatra as seductress that we know today as part of his political scheming to defeat his rival Antony and end the Roman Republic once and for all.
Cleopatra has been the subject of debate and controversy ever since. William Shakespeare later relied on ancient Roman sources such as Horace and Plutarch in writing *Antony and Cleopatra*, and his play helped give rise to countless other works offering a distorted picture of her.
Professor Williamson argues that âCleopatra was a human being, like you and I,â and âdeserves the dignity of being represented as accurately as possible.â Her efforts to set the record straight have met frustration, howeverâafter being extensively interviewed for the recent Netflix historical docuseries Queen Cleopatra, she concluded that it, too, had missed the mark.
Youâll gain a much deeper appreciation of the challenges of researching and accurately depicting the ancient past from Dr. Williamson, who also has taught at Harvard, Brandeis, and the University of California at Berkeley and is involved with an ongoing archaeological investigation of Queen Nefertitiâs sun temple. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. Talk starts 30 minutes later.)

With Digital Currency they can:
Have a complete government dossier on every detail of your life.
Use your purchase history to maintain a detailed social credit score for every person.
Provide tax breaks to corporations who hire people with admirable social credit scores.
Only grant government contracts to corporations with employees with admirable social credit scores.
Adjust health insurance premiums to incentivize people to develop admirable social credit scores.
Connect your social credit score with a digital ID to encourage you to look at only approved web sites when surfing the internet. Viewing conspiracy web sites could lower your Social Credit Score and make it difficult to get a job.
With their electronic chain around your neck, they can control where, when, how you travel, what food you are allowed to buy etc. They will love the power to only allow you to use your digital money only where they want you to shop and allow you to buy only what they prefer you to buy.
Require you to have to have a license to use your money. They will call it a Digital Currency License.
Require you to take any vaccine they want you to take to maintain your digital currency license.
Tax you in ways we have not even imagined.
Adjust your income tax rate based on your social credit score.
Use AI to increase your income tax rate if you eat too many hamburgers because they will tell you eating too many hamburgers will increase global warming. This is just one example of many behaviors they might not approve of.
Adjust individual prices for different individuals. They will be able to make you pay more per pound for hamburger if you purchased too much red meat during the past 30 days.
Require you to buy so many pounds of soy burger for every pound of hamburger to save the planet and increase the profits for the soy burger manufacturers.
Turn off the digital money of people they consider to be spreading misinformation.
Turn off the digital money of people they consider to be dangerous conspiracy theorists.
Turn off your money at 8 PM if they want a curfew at 8 PM
Turn off your money in another state if they do not want you to drive to another state without permission.
Turn off your money when buying guns or ammo if they do not want you to buy guns or ammo.
Turn off your digital money more than three miles away from your home if they want you to stay within three miles of your home during the next epidemic.
Etc. etc. etc.
From the standpoint of the government, one beauty of digital money is that your money is one âstate emergencyâ away from being the governmentâs money. All they have to do is to take your digital money out of your Central Bank Digital Account for the âgood of allâ. It is not as easy for them to do this with physical cash, gold, stocks, or silver etc.
Anything they **can** do, they will do.
The essence of slavery is control. Digital Currency will enable them to make you, their slave.

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Love and Monsters
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **âLove and Monsters,â** on the inescapable bond between romance and horror, with Joshua Barton, scholar of horror and lecturer in English at Virginia Commonwealth University.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/nv-love-monsters](https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/profsandpints/nv-love-monsters) .]
Romance and horror might seem like opposite genres, but they share a deep emotional core, and the combination of them has captivated audiences across time and culture.
Put even your worst Valentineâs Day in perspective by hearing this strange relationship discussed by Joshua Barton, who has earned a big following among Profs and Pints fans with his past talks on cryptids, American horror, and Christmas ghosts.
Heâll explore the undeniable and unsettling intersection of romance and horror and examine how and why love and fear intensify each other and combined to create tension, drive narratives, and explore human vulnerability.
Weâll look at works that have blended passion and terror, including Gothic literature like the vampire novella *Carmilla* and modern films like *Spring* and *Crimson Peak*. Weâll study the fine line between obsession and adoration running through Stephen Kingâs âI Know What You Need,â Adrian Lyneâs *Fatal Attraction*, and the timeless *The Phantom of the Opera.* Weâll discuss the seeds of monstrous love that were planted with *Beauty and the Beast* and *Creature from the Black Lagoon* and bloom ferociously in works like *Twilight* and *The Shape of Water*. Through it all, weâll find the threads of otherness and the taboo that intertwine horror, love, and reflections on identity.
Join us for a journey through storytelling that combines the grotesque and the scintillating as we uncover why romance and horror are a match made in the dark. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. Talk starts 30 minutes later.)

Curanderismo Spiritual Protection for Empaths
Spiritual Protection Workshop for Empaths and Sensitive People.
We are excited for the visit from our recognized elder in the Curanderismo Tradition Maestra Ixtoii Paloma Cervantes. She is traveling to the east coast and will be sharing this sacred tradition with us and will be teaching us how to protect our energy in multiple realities.
Why is it so important to know about Spiritual Protection? As a group of practitioners who come together to share, practice, learn, teach, and enjoy spiritual practices, we sometimes find ourselves in the âtoo sensitiveâ setting.
Or we may be learning how to âfeelâ energies and still donât know when to be open and when to be closed, and we are getting too many headaches.
Or it is absorbing so much energy that it is difficult to fall asleep at night.
Or maybe the opposite, not knowing what we are doing and draining ourselves without control.
All these issues are âfixableâ with the proper technique.
We are also going to learn how to know if an energetic portal is open and how to close it.
