We're Mixing it Up! You're invited to English Party - Game Afternoon in the Park! We have decided to branch out and try something new this month! We will meet at Cerro San Cristobal (ParqueMet), at the Providencia (Pedro de Valdivia) entrance at 4:45pm, and we’ll all walk up the path together at 5pm to a specific location that I will share with the official guests who RSVP via WhatsApp. Join our free WhatsApp group and you can RSVP before the general public! I confirm attendees via WhatsApp. Thank you for understanding. Once we’re at our spot, we’ll play outdoor games for about 2.5-3 hours. The park closes at 8:30pm so we'll probably need to start walking back down by around 8pm. We may be running around a bit (or at least walking quickly if you prefer not to run) for some of the games so keep that in mind when planning your schedule for eating lunch that day, etc. You would want to bring appropriate clothing and gear for being outside in the sun. We’d try to hang out in the shade mostly but it’s still important to bring sun protection. Some key things to bring would be: a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses if you want, comfortable clothes, and tennis shoes (comfy shoes for walking/running around). If you think you might get hungry during the event it would also be good to bring a small portable snack like a granola bar or trail mix. More game details to be published soon! Stay tuned! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting we’ll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation’’s lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.
