Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: - 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros. - Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour. - After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. After lively discussions about bleak things, we were hungry for some brain candy and thus picked the book that seemed to be most cheerful. It's good to take a break from the mundane misery now and then - especially during festive holidays. We all know that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy - and I think we needn't fear the proverb saying that all play and no work makes Jack a mere toy. This is a cozy mystery that also wants to shed some light on generational differences and how tough it is to be a twenty-something today. I think that we have not read many thrillers/detective stories in this book club, so I'm sure we'll have some fun discussions after having realized how starved we've been for these! **Co-working for writers in Amager!** Join us for an hour of focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in the area. We meet in this lovely spacious café, chilled out, usually not very busy at this time, with an on-site bakery of delicious pastries. Once everyone is here and settled, I will lead a quick introduction, and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session. We are a group of people meeting on Tuesdays to socialize around cooking and eating together. Usually around 40-50 people. Many are international students, but also other people join. The foodclub exist independent of Meetup, we invite you because we have room for a few more people. The food is vegan and made from donated leftover veggies from a local greengrocery. The place has originally hosted leftwing activist groups, and many of the people joining are also involved in political groups. If you want to join for chopping and cooking, we will be doing that from 3 to 6 pm. It is possible to join part of the time. From 6 to 8pm we are serving food. Donation around 30 kroner. Hi everyone! Thursday is the offical book meeting day, so let's gather and share our reading. As usual, we will meet at the fourth floor of the Central Library as it has good facilities for book clubs and it is also free to use. No extra cafe money to spend. Idea is to meet and connect over books. Each participant present 1-2 books they would like to recommend or just talk about, and then we'll see where conversation leads us. Again, there is no limitation to genre or type of book you are reading. Thank you all for the fascinating talk on Saturday about Susanna Kaysen’s memoir, *Girl, Interrupted*. Rendezvous Bar, which we were visiting for the first time, was a great spot, but the loud music was a bit much. So, thank you all for your patience, and especially a big thank you to Elise for her wonderful and passionate introduction to the book she chose. As usual, we voted on the next book to read at the end of the event. This time, the book that won was Jane Austen’s penultimate novel, *[Persuasion](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2156.Persuasion?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=5O4iyF5w8n&rank=2)*. The novel was published posthumously six months after Austen’s death, at only 41 years old, in 1818. It tells the story of Anne Elliot, who, at a young age, was persuaded by friends and family to break off an engagement to Captain Wentworth. But was it the right decision?
