đ **Enabling Rapid Experimentation: Unifying Analytics and ML Data in Databricks**
Enabling teams to rapidly experiment with new AI models requires breaking down silos between analytical data and ML training datasets. At Superhuman, we consolidated both into Databricks as we scaled from a writing assistant to an agent platform. In this talk, we will:
* Share our journey from our fragmented data systems to a unified platform in Databricks
* Walk through design choices on how we organize Workspaces, Unity Catalog, and data ingestion
* Explain how we apply and manage our privacy policies, governance, and access control
đ **Rebuilding the Engine: Migrating Data Systems While Keeping Products Moving**
During this talk, we'll explore how to migrate core data systems while maintaining product velocity amid organizational and architectural change.
Weâll cover:
* The migration philosophy behind translate vs. transplant, and when each approach makes sense
* Key data validation challenges encountered during system migrations
* How to scope migration efforts realistically under time and delivery pressure
* Architectural trade-offs and lessons learned from high-impact decisions
**About Speakers**:
**[Niels van Kaam](https://www.linkedin.com/in/niels-van-kaam-aa731768/)** is a tech lead for the ML Data team at Superhuman, where heâs building the data foundation for the companyâs transition from a writing assistant to an agent platform. Previously, he worked on large-scale data systems for ad-tech at Amadeus Berlin and on geospatial applications for startups in the Netherlands.
**[Dave Heberer](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dave-heberer/)** is a software engineer at Superhuman with nearly 25 years of experience building data infrastructure across major tech companies. đ **Agenda:**
**18:00 â Doors Open** Pizza, drinks, and networking
**18:30 â Opening** Short welcome and announcements from the organizers (5 min)
### **18:35 â Talk #1**
**Building Blocks of Modern Code Agents: Reusable Skills and Role-Based Subagents**
**[Alexey Grigorev](https://www.linkedin.com/in/agrigorev) â DataTalk.Club**
A practical map of modern code agent types and the two key building blocks that make them reliable in real-world development workflows.
Code agents appear in many forms today: chat-based assistants, cloud agents running CI-like workflows, and IDE or terminal agents embedded directly into development environments. In this talk, weâll map these main categories, discuss what each is good at, and highlight where they commonly fail.
Weâll then zoom in on two core building blocks used in modern agent tooling:
* **Skills / playbooks** â reusable, step-by-step workflows (e.g. understand the repo â implement a change â run checks â produce a clean diff)
* **Subagents** â specialized roles such as planner, implementer, reviewer, and tester that split complex work into focused, reliable steps
**Format:** 20 min talk + 10 min Q&A
### **19:05 â Talk #2**
**Guardrailed Agents at Scale: Zalandoâs Support Agent for Incident Triage and Stakeholder Q&A**
**[Ivan Potapov](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ivan-sur/)**, **[Saugandh Karan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/saugandh-karan/)**[ ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/saugandh-karan/)â Zalando SE
Weâll share how Zalando built and shipped a specialized internal support agent that helps engineering teams answer stakeholder questions and triage operational alerts â without drowning in context or compromising production safety.
The agent enriches user requests with relevant observability context (metrics, logs, traces, recent deploys), summarizes what matters, and produces a severity assessment with recommended next steps.
A key challenge is context explosion: pulling âall the dataâ quickly becomes noisy, slow, and risky. Weâll walk through the architecture patterns and guardrails that keep the system production-ready:
* Retrieval and ranking strategies
* Strict tool boundaries
* Policy-driven response formats
* Evaluation checks to prevent overconfident or unsafe guidance
Finally, weâll cover rollout and migration: introducing the agent alongside existing workflows, aligning it with architecture guidelines, and iterating based on real incident feedback.
**Format:** 20 min talk + 10 min Q&A
### **19:35 â Pizza, Drinks & Networking**
Invite your friends and join our meetup. Special thanks to our hosts **[Zalando.](https://en.zalando.de/?_rfl=de)**

**Was ist Village Outdoor?**

**Berlin Wall Trail Section 13**
**â From Lichtenrade S-Bahn Station to Gropiusstadt â**
with ***Harms*** and ***Thomas***
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/village-outdoor/w08-2026/)**
On our first hike of 2026, we continue along the Berlin Wall Trail on the southern city limits â this time from Lichtenrade to Gropiusstadt. Even at the S-Bahn station, the eye is drawn to the historic industrial building of the Alte MĂ€lzerei , a former malt factory that was recently transformed into an inclusive urban quarter.
From the station, we walk through a residential area to the southern section of the Wall Trail. As in the previous section, the path leads us along the cityâs edge for long stretches through the open countryside in southern Berlin. The former patrol road of the GDR border troops is still partially preserved here; some of the lampposts that once illuminated the border strip are also still standing. Even from a distance, the distinctive silhouette of Gropiusstadt announces the end point of our hike.

Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Join our partners Watermark Woods Native Plants, Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL), and Birch Tree Bookstore for the Read! Plant! Grow! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting weâll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nationââs lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.
You can either buy the book from Birch Tree Bookstore or contact Allison Forbes at [Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov](mailto:Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov) to borrow a copy of the book at the library. Energizing Walk for Busy People!
Join our weekly walking meetup to have fun, maintain a healthy lifestyle, meet new people, and enjoy the weather! We meet Saturdays at 10am, halfway between the Reston *Container Store* and *Not Your Average Joes* (by the metal benches), leaving no later than 10:05.
Every week, rain or shine, we start by walking along the Green Trail to reach Lake Anne Community Center. Once there, we pause for water/bio (often staying a few minutes extra from April-November, due to the local Farmer's Market), and then we circle Lake Anne and head back to our starting point. It's roughly 3-4 miles and takes about an hour and a half.
Afterwards, some members will often head to *Not Your Average Joes* or another local restaurant for a quick drink/meal before tackling the day.
This event is open to all ages and fitness levels. Dogs are welcome, and we recommend dressing for the weather (umbrella, water, snow shoes, hat, etc.) since we'll walk rain or shine. Also, feel free to bring a friend!
By signing up, you accept and assume all risks and responsibilities with this activity, and nobody will be held liable.

No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event.
The event will take place on the bus parking lot of the museum. **Please park your vehicle at the south end of the main visitors lot and follow signs and red lights to the observing site. As a reminder, parking during the event is free.**
Have a cosmic question? One of NOVAC's astronomers or museum staff will be happy to help you. As the sky gets dark, be prepared to enjoy the wonders of the night sky!
Don't forget to dress warmly. Please check the weather forecast. For lighting, cover a flashlight in red cellophane (the darker the better). Bring along water to keep hydrated.
Note: This outdoor event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled because of significant cloud cover or precipitation.
Clifton Connection Networking Meeting
We are a group of professionals who share business strategies, refer business, and act as a sounding board to our members. Our business group is Clifton/Fairfax-based. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month.
We start every meeting with informal networking and then move to the more formal agenda of the day. The agenda includes the topic of the day, discussion of the topic, then business needs and wants, and finish with success stories.
We are looking for experienced business professionals and business owners who see value in networking with like-minded professionals and are dedicated to growing their business and helping other group members grow theirs. If this is you, we'd love to connect!
