Maker Night - Work on 3D projects using laser cutter, 3D Printer at TOG
**Do you like to make things? Would you like to use 3D software, lasercutter and 3D printing to help you make your idea?**
TOG has an open evening to learn how CAD software and 3D fabrication tools can help you make your project.
All you need to take part is your own laptop and some ideas on what you want to make.
This is not a taught class, more like an informal working group of self-directed makers.
We will be happy to help you explore how to use our 3D tools in designing and making your project whether you are a crafter, designer, engineer or hobbyist.
Come and have a look at the tools in our space and get some ideas on how your project can be made.
Electronics Night
These are our regular Monday evening electronics nights. Everyone from absolute beginner to experienced is welcome. These evenings are not classes or tutorials, rather a very friendly informal evening.
We have a wide range of people who come. Some are absolute beginners who do not even work or study electronics, but are interested to know more. Others have something that they are already working on. We almost always have some first time visitors and we always give them a tour of the space.
Come in with your Pi, Arduino, or whatever you have. Bring your laptop. Maybe you want to make something, solder, breadboard or use our electronic gear. Maybe you have some vague ideas and just want to get started. Or maybe you’re just curious……if so, it’s fine to come along and just see what others are doing.
If you would like to get even more involved and have the full use of our space, we would be delighted to have you as a full member. Membership brings many benefits.
We are located behind Mr Price and the Bright Lights store on Kylemore Road. We have lots of free parking available.

Ciorcal Comhrá sa chlub, beginners welcome!
Dear fellow Gaeilgeoiri,
Cead mile failte / a warm welcome to this group of Irish language lovers and enthusiasts. Hope you will enjoy everything it has to offer and feel free to suggest new events, and, why not step in as an event organizer?
What this group is not:
- A group limited to those with perfect proficiency in the language, where any single word of English is banned, and where you will get corrected for every séimhiú that, God forbid, you might be forgetting
What this group is:
- A forum of Gaeilge enthusiasts willing to share their interest and love of the language. We all started learning a language, including our own, from scratch at some point in our lives. Absolute beginners are welcome and should not feel intimidated. Near perfect and native Irish speakers are also welcome to share their vast knowledge of the language. Hopefully this will create a thriving community of lovers of the language at any level.

The event is kindly sponsored by [StackandCo](https://stackand.co/) software recruitment firm. And they will be there on the night to share their tips.
We will go to Mulligans for a chat afterward. Places are limited so if we are full when you arrive (this has not happened yet) we will see you there afterward
FREE 10 Weeks Course Meditation for Inner Power Awakening Temple Bar
Learn to Meditate - Free 10 Week Course - Starts Jan 13th 2026 - All Welcome - Join any week -
Welcome to Sahaja Yoga Meditation, where experienced volunteers run all classes at no charge. We usually sit on chairs to achieve yoga effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and special clothing.
All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it — everyone! Our inner feminine, motherly energy automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, and organically and cannot be paid for.
The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is pretty effortless and spontaneous.
The free classes feature introductory talks, videos, practical workshops, and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga. Check our website for more free classes throughout Ireland.
The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga!
Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, reduce stress, and increase wellness. It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it.
Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a worldwide movement for peace and self-awakening.
All the meetings and classes are free of charge. Each week we go through simple meditation techniques, often with guided meditations, to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation.
We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body.
The tradition and aims of meditation are explained. In essence, to be in the present without mental activities or thoughts about the past or the future. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being.

A Day to Finish What You Started – Finish-a-thon
At TOG, we love hacking, tinkering, and making things… but we’re also very good at accumulating half-finished projects. You know the ones: the “nearly working” circuit, the “just needs a weekend” code refactor, the 3D print that needs sanding, the costume that needs one final stitch, the repair you definitely meant to do months ago.
So we’re doing something about it.
We’re hosting a Finish-a-thon, a one-day, community-powered mini hackathon dedicated to making real progress on the projects that have been sitting in a box, on a shelf, or in a Git branch called `final_final_v3`.
Whether it’s coding, crafting, designing, writing, fixing, soldering, sewing, or sorting, this is your day to get it done (or at least get it properly moving again).
### Event Details
* **Date:** Saturday 24th of January
* **Time:** **11:00 AM to 7:00 PM**
* **Location:** TOG Hackerspace, Unit 1B Motor City, Kylemore Road, Dublin 12, D12 CF6V
### And afterwards
After the Finish-a-thon we’ll roll straight into our monthly social night, but this one will be a bit special, because it’s also TOG’s birthday. 🎂
So: progress during the day, then a proper catch-up in the evening with the gang.

### What’s the plan?
Nothing too formal. The whole point is momentum and community:
* **11:00 AM:** Arrive, grab a bench, tea/coffee, and settle in
* Share what you’re working on (or keep it quiet and just crack on, no pressure)
* Work through the day, ask questions, borrow a hand, offer a hand
* No prizes, just the satisfaction of progress, plus the usual TOG encouragement and problem-solving
### What can you work on?
Anything goes. If it’s a thing you started and you want to push it forward, it belongs here:
* Squash that annoying bug in your project or open-source code
* Finish an electronics kit gathering dust
* Finally wire up the enclosure, label the panel, tidy the loom
* Repair something that’s been sitting in the “I must fix that” pile
* Wrap up a design, write-up, or documentation you’ve been meaning to publish
* Revive a project you love but stalled on
No project? Also grand. There’s always someone who’d love a second pair of hands.

### What should you bring?
* Whatever parts, tools, and materials your project needs
* A laptop is usually a good shout
* TOG has plenty of tools and bits, but assume you’ll take home what you bring (and any half-finished bits you create)
### No tickets this time
There are no tickets or registration for this event, just show up and join in.
If you’ve any questions (or you’re not sure if your project idea fits), give us a shout and we’ll point you in the right direction.
See you Saturday. Let’s finish some things. 🔧✨

This Is Not Precious: How I use Design Thinking to Create Bestselling Games
**\*This is an in-person event\***
Most people hold their ideas too tightly. They refine too early, hesitate to share half-formed concepts, and wait for “perfect” before putting anything in front of a user. Frankie Abralind works the opposite way and that mindset is a big part of why his projects succeed.
In this session, Frankie walks you through his real creative process: messy drafts, discarded versions, surprising user reactions, and the moments when he threw out something he loved because the evidence pushed him in a new direction. You’ll see firsthand how treating ideas as *disposable, not precious* accelerates learning and leads to better outcomes.
You’ll also get to examine real artifacts from the development of his games **BrainSpin**, **DIEKY**, and **eckso**. Explore prototypes, dive into design dilemmas, and hear candid stories of iteration, failure, and breakthrough that have earned former DT:DC director Frankie Abralind a reputation as an “entrepreneur who ships.”
**What you'll learn**
• What you need to test an idea quickly
• Where to find real users (beyond friends and family)
• How to ask non-leading, non-biasing questions
• User-testing methods that uncover meaningful insights
• Best practices for rapid iteration
• How to log feedback, share modifications, and track updates
• How to receive feedback with openness and use it productively
• How to build, and reward, a network of testers and supporters
**Agenda**
**6:00pm** – Snacks & connection
**6:30pm** – Case Study 1: *BrainSpin* — finding user testers
**6:50pm** – Case Study 2: *DIEKY* — play tester appreciation
**7:10pm** – Case Study 3: *eckso* — rapid prototyping
**7:30pm** – *Zenmo* — live user testing
**8:00pm** – Debrief & questions
**8:30pm** – Adjourn
**About our presenter**
**Frankie Abralind** is an experience designer, artist, and neurodiversity advocate. He earned his MBA from the University of Maryland, where he has taught “Innovative Thinking” to graduate students since 2014. He also served as co-director of the Innovation Hub at Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital.
In 2018, Frankie co-founded **The Good Listening Project**, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening psychological safety in healthcare. He is the inventor of the bestselling game **BrainSpin**, which showcases the power of divergent thinking and collaboration. Today, he leads the stealth startup **Zenmo**, which helps people connect through color.
