MoCo Code & Coffee January
## Details
MoCo Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. We're community-led and community-run by devs, for devs. People of all skill levels are invited. Especially new devs!
Bring a laptop, ideas, and we'll provide the coffee and snacks.
**Here's how it works**
At 2:30pm, everyone introduces themselves and briefly mention what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc.)
Round 1:
1. Your name
2. What you're working on
3. What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
Round 3:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
**After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized!**
1. For the rest of the day, folks work on their projects, providing one another with help, and/or socialize. It's fully up to you.
**Location**
We will be at the Rockville Science Center, right across from the library in The Square at Rockville. Note this is NOT the makerspace location, but the other one near the Garage B entrance.
36 Maryland Ave C, Rockville, MD 20850
The event will be held at a spacious science center with plenty of tables and chairs. Light refreshments (coffee and tea) and snacks will be provide.
**Parking**
* Rockville Town Square garages up to 90 minutes of free parking. Parking at the Rockville Metro station would be free on weekends.
**Public transit**
* Located near near the **Rockville** metro station (Red Line).
GoModGo! / Apollo 66
explore Hell’s Bottom
**60’s Garage & Soul vs. contemporary Punk**
It’s a Saturday night double bill at the TP VFW featuring GoModGo!, a 10 piece band playing 60s garage and soul, and Apollo 66, the house band at 1st Saturday’s Garage Punk Rock Night at the Cissel-Saxon American Legion Hall in downtown Silver Spring.
[GoModGo! on bandcamp ](https://gomodgo.bandcamp.com/album/move-on-up)
[Apollo 66 on bandcamp](https://apollo66.bandcamp.com/album/never-and-also-now)
Hell's Bottom (VFW 350 in TP) is a favorite hang with cheap drinks, no cover (but be sure to tip the band), a decent dance floor, and plenty of interesting characters. The McHenry Sisters food truck offers pub grub for those nighttime munchies.
The bands start at 730 and I'll be at the bar.

[Verse 1]
Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails
I forgive you, boy, I will prevail
Too much to take, some cross to bear
I'm hiding in the trees with a picnic, she's over there, yeah
[Interlude]
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[Verse 2]
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you, boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning, they're hurting her again
[Chorus]
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
[Post-Chorus]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, and she's alright, yeah, she's my sister
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 3]
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you, boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning, they're hurting her again
[Interlude]
Oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[Chorus]
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean

SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE JUST BEFORE THE ABOVE
International Festival
Hello group! Let's start the new year with an awesome event full of music, dances and food from all over the world. We don't need to leave the country to enjoy other cultures's traditions. I hope you can join me at this new adventure, I can't wait to meet you all and have a great time!
Address: 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding, VA 20152
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Udvar-Hazy Center Star Party
Members of the public are invited to view the wonders of the universe through the telescopes of NOVAC volunteers at the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. You do not need to be a member of the club or own any astronomical equipment to attend. Telescopes will be provided by the Smithsonian and pre-approved members of the NOVAC.
No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event.
The event will take place on the bus parking lot of the museum. **Please park your vehicle at the south end of the main visitors lot and follow signs and red lights to the observing site. As a reminder, parking during the event is free.**
Have a cosmic question? One of NOVAC's astronomers or museum staff will be happy to help you. As the sky gets dark, be prepared to enjoy the wonders of the night sky!
Don't forget to dress warmly. Please check the weather forecast. For lighting, cover a flashlight in red cellophane (the darker the better). Bring along water to keep hydrated.
Note: This outdoor event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled because of significant cloud cover or precipitation.
