Daytrip to the Mangaļsala Shipwreck
Daytrip to the Mangaļsala Shipwreck
**Meeting at 11:20 on Saturday at the Laima shop & Ticket Offices area of the central railway station. We are taking the 11:38 train to Skulte, and will get off at Vecaķi. Please arrange for your own ticket.** You might have seen recent photos of the frozen seaside and the famous Lady Kathleen / Lady Cotlin shipwreck near the Mangaļsala Pier. On this daytrip we will venture out to Vecaķi and walk by the seaside to the Mangaļsala Pier. **The path will most likely be frozen and slippery.** If possible and safe, we will get close to the shipwreck as well. **Approaching the shipwreck might be unsafe and it is your own responsibility.** The weather is expected to be cold and appropriate clothing and bringing hot drinks are advised. The walking distance is about 12 km from the Vecaķi train station to the Pier and then to the terminal of Bus 24. We will take Bus 24 to return to the centre. Everyone is welcome to join. To learn more about the shipwreck, you can read this article: [https://tobatheornottobathe.no/2022/06/13/the-hunt-for-lady-kathleen/](http://tobatheornottobathe.no) There are several photos on Facebook by a number of people and this series is probably one of the best that I have seen. NOVA Code & Coffee [161] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code & Coffee [161] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. People of all skill levels are invited. The concept is simple, bring a laptop and ideas, we'll provide the coffee and donuts! Here's how it works: 1. At 10:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc) 2. For the rest of the day, folks work in the communal space on their projects providing one another help and conversation as needed. Oh and they usually drink coffee and tea too! That's it! Hope to see you there! **Location** Our hosts are the Fairfax City Economic Development Building: [10300 Eaton Pl, Fairfax, VA 22030](https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=d7298231ca2df594df822003f9a93517c788fceefe1fcbb79c8976696e341bc6JmltdHM9MTc1MzIyODgwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=180d0745-3b7f-69a1-23a2-11433a7868e5&u=a1L21hcHM_Jm1lcGk9MTA5fn5Ub3BPZlBhZ2V-QWRkcmVzc19MaW5rJnR5PTE4JnE9RmFpcmZheCUyMENpdHklMjBFY29ub21pYyUyMERldmVsb3BtZW50JnNzPXlwaWQuWU44NzN4ODI4MTk2Mjg0NTk5MDM4MTU0MiZwcG9pcz0zOC44NjE0NDYzODA2MTUyMzRfLTc3LjMwMjE3NzQyOTE5OTIyX0ZhaXJmYXglMjBDaXR5JTIwRWNvbm9taWMlMjBEZXZlbG9wbWVudF9ZTjg3M3g4MjgxOTYyODQ1OTkwMzgxNTQyfiZjcD0zOC44NjE0NDZ-LTc3LjMwMjE3NyZ2PTImc1Y9MSZGT1JNPU1QU1JQTA&ntb=1) Conference Room A- Large, Floor 1 This is a new venue for us, so give us some time to get more details about it. Improv Workshop
Improv Workshop
Come join local improv troupe, the ***Home Improv Mints***, as we run through some of the basics of short form improv. Wear clothes you can move around in. We will start at **7:15**. We will run until just after 9 pm. Bring yourself and a willingness to try new things - like (insert audience suggestion here)! We try a different topic each session to see if it changes who sees the announcement. There might not be bobwhite imitations, hyena butter, lava floors, trans livestock, thalidomide twinkies or inflatable turnips (all things that HAVE come up), but we can promise something *random*. But we encourage you to bring cookies. NOM NOM NOM! We only have so many slots available. **Please don't RSVP as a yes *until* you are certain.** We limit the class size so everyone gets a chance to play, and ask for RSVPs so we know how many outlines to print and cookies to bring. We understand things change sometimes. Please message us if things change and you can't make it, rather than being a No-Show. Multiple No-shows get you put on the naughty list and may get you ejected from the group. Please don't make us do that. Please donate - *running* a Meetup group ain't free folks. Suggested Donation is $10/session. And feel free to bring more cookies. Everybody likes cookies. Hope to see you then!
