La propuesta de esta actividad es ir a ver la exposición *"Figuraciones entre guerras 1914 - 1945"* , que se celebra en la Sala Parés. La muestra reúne más de 100 obras que, en conjunto, recuperan la tensión entre tradición y modernidad que materializó la Sala Parés en el circuito barcelonés desde su fundación en 1877, al mismo tiempo que ofrecen una visión amplia de la naturaleza compleja de gran parte de la pintura y la escultura moderna producida en el contexto de las dos guerras mundiales que marcaron el siglo XX. Entre los artistas representados en la exposición, se pueden contemplar obras de Juan Gris, Joaquim Sunyer, Rafael Barradas, Olga Sacharoff, Joaquim Mir, Anglada Camarasa, Julio González, Joaquim Torres- García, Josep de Togores, Manolo Hugué, Óscar Domínguez... * La entrada a la Sala Parés es gratuita.

Are you looking to try out ceramics or up-skill your existing knowledge? Look no further! This workshop is standalone or you can book a block of 4 that need not be consecutive. It takes place in a very spacious and bright studio and you are welcomed to come with your own ideas or simply follow along and let your creativity blossom during the mindful 3 hours of making. The main technique used during the session is hand-building giving you the option to create functional ware or small sculptural work. Beginners will be guided through the process using techniques such as slab building, coiling, pinching, texturing and surface decoration. The more advanced will be free to create and those with experience throwing would be welcomed to use the wheel which would need to be reserved in advance. Those of you who would like to learn about glazing would need to book 2 workshops. The workshops are mainly run in English but I do speak Catalan and Spanish. They also provide a great opportunity for non-native speakers to practice their English. Continuarem amb *Bouffées,* de Leïla Ka, una reescenificació de la producció independent de la coreògrafa francesa. Aquesta guardonada obra creada el 2022 retrata cinc dones atrapades a les urpes del dolor. Alineats amb vestits de flors, els cinc cossos creen una cacofonia física i sonora, entrellaçant respiracions, gestos recurrents i un ritme en què cauen i es tornen a aixecar. I per últim *I am afraid to forget your smile,* un treball dels germans holandesos Imre i Marne van Opstal, estrelles emergents de l’escena europea de la dansa; aquesta peça per a sis ballarins presenta la veu i el moviment treballant en tàndem i en oposició, acompanyats de música coral. El Ballet Estatal de Hessen és la companyia de dansa que comparteixen el Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden i el Staatstheater Darmstadt. Members of the public are invited to view the wonders of the universe through the telescopes of NOVAC volunteers at the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. You do not need to be a member of the club or own any astronomical equipment to attend. Telescopes will be provided by the Smithsonian and pre-approved members of the NOVAC. No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event. The event will take place on the bus parking lot of the museum. **Please park your vehicle at the south end of the main visitors lot and follow signs and red lights to the observing site. As a reminder, parking during the event is free.** Have a cosmic question? One of NOVAC's astronomers or museum staff will be happy to help you. As the sky gets dark, be prepared to enjoy the wonders of the night sky! Don't forget to dress warmly. Please check the weather forecast. For lighting, cover a flashlight in red cellophane (the darker the better). Bring along water to keep hydrated. Note: This outdoor event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled because of significant cloud cover or precipitation.

Trinidad-born Brathwaite channels the landscapes of her childhood and the ecological tensions of urban life into luminous organic forms. Her stones, flowers, and “soft bodies” pulse with what she describes as the vitality of nature, shaped from clay, plaster, cement, fabric, and color that suggest both the Caribbean’s exuberance and its fragility. Her lifelong engagement with materials creates an aesthetic language rooted in memory, movement, and an enduring concern for the natural world. ## The Magical World of Joan Danziger **Joan Danziger, Artist** **Jack Rasmussen, Curator** Enter a world of transformation—where imagination takes physical form; where wire, glass, and celu-clay become creatures of wonder; and where an abstract painter evolves into a surreal sculptor guided by her fascination with fantasy and dream imagery. ## Humanist Touch: Works from the Weber Collection Presented by the Alper Initiative for Washington Art **Joan and Bruce Weber, Collectors** **Laura Roulet, Curator** Assembled over four decades, these works from the Weber collection reflect Joan and Bruce Weber’s long engagement with contemporary DMV artists and galleries. When they describe their collection, a strong sense of community emerges, one enriched by personal ties to the artists and by the many conversations, visits, and encounters that shaped their choices.

This class will provide instruction into various concepts of **Jiu-Jitsu** as a form of **martial art**. Participants will have the opportunity to **study**, **practice**, and **experiment** with **submission holds** and **strategic fighting controls** that are the hallmark of the now famous methodology of Professional MMA athletes and professional combatives users. This **gi class** is held every **Tuesday** and **Thursday** and includes **one hour of instruction** and **30 minutes** (sometimes longer, TBD) of **open training**. Gis are available if you need one. Drop-in fee for non-members is **$20** which which can be paid on-site. Note that we are in **Suite #130**.
