Board Game Fun Night @ Hal5 in Kessel-Lo
Board Game Fun Night @ Hal5 in Kessel-Lo
1. **Always RSVP before attending.** 2. **Limited spots:** RSVP does not guarantee a spot — please check if you're on the main list or the waitlist. 3. **WAITLIST notice:** Please don’t take a spot from someone who signed up in time — only attend if you’re off the waitlist. You may move to the active list if someone cancels, which can happen the day before or even on the day of game night. 4. **Be on time:** If you’re more than 20–25 minutes late, you likely can’t join a table — we won’t restart game explanations for latecomers. You may wait for the next game. 5. **Take care of the games:** The people hosting the evening kindly bring and share their own private — and often quite expensive — games. Please don’t bend the cards (these aren’t just cheap poker decks!), be gentle with the components, and make sure everything goes back neatly in the box. 6. **Be present, not on your phone:** Please give your attention when someone is explaining the rules — especially the person hosting the game, who took the time to prepare and make sure everyone can enjoy it. This is a game night, not just a casual bar hangout, so please respect their effort and the focus of the other players. 7. **No double booking:** On Wednesdays, another game night is organized at the same time by another group, the International House of Leuven (IHL). If you sign up for both events, we will automatically remove you from our list. Please don’t be rude by occupying a spot that someone else could use — respect both communities and let everyone enjoy a fair chance to join.

Art and morals
Art and morals
Art moves us, inspires us, entertains us, and sometimes divides us. But what happens when the people behind the art become controversial? When an artist’s words, actions, or beliefs clash with our own values, does that change how we experience their work? In this debate, we’ll explore the uneasy relationship between creative work and its creator. Should art be judged on its own merits, or does consuming it also mean endorsing the person behind it? Where do we draw the line between appreciation, accountability, and personal values? Including in, but not limited to, the #MeToo context… As always, bring your opinions, your doubts, and your willingness to listen — this debate is about questioning assumptions, exploring grey areas, and engaging respectfully with different perspectives. _⚠️ Trigger warning:_ _This debate may touch on sensitive topics, including cases of sexual assault. We aim to keep the discussion thoughtful, respectful, and focused on ideas rather than individuals. We have zero tolerance for harmful, dismissive, or disrespectful language. Please take care of yourself, and feel free to step out or reach out to the organisers at any point if you need support.__ This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into four teams of two. Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience. ⚠️ Disclaimer: We aim for debates that are respectful, constructive, and welcoming. • Respect ideas and people: Listen actively, stay quiet while others speak, and debate arguments, not identities or beliefs. • Be concise and civil: Keep questions short and relevant; avoid hostility, hate speech, or discrimination. • Respect boundaries and time: No unwanted advances or suggestive behavior; arrive on time to avoid disrupting the debate. • Follow moderators: They guide the discussion and ensure fairness. Looking forward to seeing you there 😊

Intervals Workout Session 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻 Bois de la Cambre
Intervals Workout Session 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻 Bois de la Cambre
We do cycles of 4-6 weeks, with a progressive intensity, and the last session is lighter. Program: 15’ warm up **To be defined** Cool down to get back to the starting point… or more S=All out sprint RF = Run fast, at MAS (Maximum aerobic speed) CF = Run comfortably fast (1h threshold) J = Jog, recuperation Notes: It should take about one hour in total, as the cool down will end when we reach back to the meeting point. It's NOT required to have an activity tracker or smart watch to be able to follow the program, as I'll be giving signals with a whistle. For the "run" part, you can follow your own pace and we'll be regrouping in the "jog" part. Intervals training is not advised for total beginners. To have an idea, the average pace at the warm up is around 5'45"/km-6'/km so this pace should feel very comfortable ***Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability.*** By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organizers from any responsibility and liability in all claims. NOVA Horror Club Discussion: House AKA Hausu (1977)
NOVA Horror Club Discussion: House AKA Hausu (1977)
**NOTE: This is NOT a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.** *"I'm scared! It's like a horror movie!"* *"That's out of date. Step aside. This is a karate movie!"* Nobuhiko Obayashi’s *House* is less a horror film than a psychedelic fever dream that happens to be haunted. When a group of schoolgirls visit a remote countryside house, logic quickly evaporates, replaced by floating heads, ravenous furniture, and a visual language that feels closer to a children’s cartoon than a traditional ghost story. *House* was created in direct opposition to the prestige dramas and somber horror of its era, resulting in a cult classic that feels anarchic even today. Using crude visual effects, cartoon logic, and musical cues, the film creates horror through excess rather than restraint. It’s funny, disorienting, and utterly unique — a film that feels like it’s being invented moment by moment. ***
NOVA Horror Club Discussion: Friday the 13th Part IV - The Final Chapter
NOVA Horror Club Discussion: Friday the 13th Part IV - The Final Chapter
**NOTE: This is NOT a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.** *"Hey Ted, where the hell's the corkscrew?!"* *Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter* arrives at a point where the series knows exactly what it is. Picking up immediately after Part 3, the film traps a new group of unlucky victims near Camp Crystal Lake as Jason Voorhees continues his unstoppable march through the annals of horror history. Lean, mean, and packed with some of the series’ most memorable kills, *The Final Chapter* distills the formula to its sharpest elements — suspense, savagery, and a mounting sense of inevitability — before slamming the door shut with brutal efficiency. Often regarded as the strongest entry in the original series, the film balances classic slasher suspense with some of the most effective practical effects of the era. It’s a no-frills, high-impact installment that solidified Jason as a horror icon. ***
NOVA Horror Club Discussion: The Cabin in the Woods
NOVA Horror Club Discussion: The Cabin in the Woods
**NOTE: This is NOT a screening, please watch the movie before the discussion.** *"Okay, I'm drawing a line in the fucking sand, here. Do not read the Latin."* Drew Goddard’s *The Cabin in the Woods* opens with a scenario horror fans know by heart: a group of college friends, a remote cabin, and a weekend that’s clearly going to go wrong. The setup feels ritualistic, almost inevitable — like the story itself is already in motion before anyone arrives. From there, the film pivots into something stranger and smarter, blending satire, creature-feature chaos, and genuine tension. Balancing humor with escalating spectacle, the film manages to be both deeply referential and wildly entertaining. It’s as much about why we watch horror as it is about what’s happening on screen.
NOVA Horror Club Screening and Discussion: Hideshi Hino's Mermaid in a Manhole
NOVA Horror Club Screening and Discussion: Hideshi Hino's Mermaid in a Manhole
**CONTENT WARNING: Disease, mutilation, abortion.** **This film contains extreme body horror, prolonged depictions of illness and bodily decay, environmental contamination, and disturbing imagery. It also includes references to pregnancy loss and a graphic act involving the removal of a fetus from a woman’s body. Themes of obsession, emotional distress, and death are central to the film. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. You are welcome to step out at any time.** Please read the original manga ahead of the dicussion: https://mangadex.org/chapter/bf397fc1-17bc-4fa1-8cd7-2cfd35f8170c Hideshi Hino's *Mermaid in a Manhole* is body horror stripped of bravado. When a lonely artist encounters a dying mermaid trapped in an underground sewer, he attempts to care for her — documenting her condition as her body deteriorates in disturbing and intimate ways. What begins as a strange act of compassion transforms into a bleak meditation on decay, obsession, and environmental collapse. Blending body horror with tragic romance, the film replaces shock-for-shock’s-sake with an atmosphere of sickness and inevitability that seeps into every frame.
