**Life Sequence Transformer: Generative Modelling of Socio-Economic Trajectories from Administrative Data** by [Alberto Cabezas](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=lOpuVOUAAAAJ&hl=en) and [Carlotta Montorsi](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=6pFg4lkAAAAJ&hl=it) Generative modelling with Transformer architectures can simulate complex sequential structures across various applications. We extend this line of work to the social sciences by introducing a Transformer-based generative model tailored to longitudinal socio-economic data. Our contributions are: (i) we design a novel encoding method that represents socio-economic life histories as sequences, including overlapping events across life domains; and (ii) we adapt generative modelling techniques to simulate plausible alternative life trajectories conditioned on past histories. Using large-scale data from the Italian social security administration (INPS), we show that the model can be trained at scale, reproduces realistic labour market patterns consistent with known causal relationships, and generates coherent hypothetical life paths. This work demonstrates the feasibility of generative modelling for socio-economic trajectories and opens new opportunities for policy-oriented research, with counterfactual generation as a particularly promising application. **The Rise of Tabular Foundation Models: From Zero-Shot Inference to the Security Frontier** by [Karim TIT](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=kpKry3kAAAAJ&hl=fr) Traditional tabular machine learning has long been dominated by gradient-boosted decision trees and complex AutoML pipelines that require extensive search, hyperparameter tuning, and feature engineering. In this talk, I will first introduce the emerging paradigm of Tabular Foundation Models (TFMs), which leverage Transformer architectures and massive *synthetic* pre-training datasets to achieve state-of-the-art performance via zero-shot in-context learning. I will conduct a deep dive into the TabPFN family, explaining the Prior-fitted Network paradigm and its latest evolutions, including Real-TabPFN, which integrates curated real-world data to handle larger, more complex datasets. Building on these foundations, I will provide a tour of other diverse SOTA approaches like TabDPT and TARTE, highlighting how different architectural choices impact scalability. Finally, I will shift to a security-researcher perspective to discuss the hidden vulnerabilities of this new paradigm. I will present recent results from our paper (accepted at SatML 2026) showing that TFMs are highly susceptible to structured test-time attacks and can even be repurposed as tools to attack traditional models. I will conclude by introducing Adversarial In-Context Learning (AICL), a novel defense that hardens these models by optimizing their data context, offering a path toward more robust and reliable tabular AI.

## Meditation as a key to spiritual development and the challenges we face in its pursuit We are excited to have Khaydroup in person to teach. About the Teacher: Khaydroup moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1981 to join a newly formed team of psychologists from The Naropa Institute led by the psychiatrist Edward Podvoll, whom Khaydroup eventually married in 1986. She would be the first roommate in their innovative home environment approach to treating those suffering from the extremes of psychological illness. This group, called Windhorse Associates, has now mushroomed both in the US and Europe. Khaydroup maintains keen interest in their accomplishments. Impressed by her colleagues, many of whom were students of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, she began to study and practice the Buddha’s teachings in earnest. In 1990, during a three month stay in India, many auspicious events led Khaydroup straight to the monastic community of the late Gendun Rinpoche in the Auvergne Region of France where she had the good fortune to be guided in two consecutive traditional Three Year retreats by this highly respected meditation master. After completing her second retreat in 1997, Khaydroup joined the women’s monastery and began teaching the Dharma in centers, schools and organizations in Europe and in the USA. At the request of the 14th Shamarpa, Khaydroup moved back to the US in 2000 to be a resident teacher at the Santa Barbara Bodhi Path Center. During the two years she was there, she helped found both the San Luis Obispo Bodhi Path and West Los Angeles Bodhi Path Centers. The West Los Angeles group moved to Pasadena in 2004 where Khaydroup continues as the resident teacher. Khaydroup was also a primary school teacher for 15 years, owning and directing a Waldorf Preschool for the last five of those years. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month for an hour. We are an open club, so anyone can join us! Regular meeting room is 1B-215 near the health unit, but please confirm ahead of time.

Join our weekly walking meetup to have fun, maintain a healthy lifestyle, meet new people, and enjoy the weather! We meet Saturdays at 10am, halfway between the Reston *Container Store* and *Not Your Average Joes* (by the metal benches), leaving no later than 10:05. Every week, rain or shine, we start by walking along the Green Trail to reach Lake Anne Community Center. Once there, we pause for water/bio (often staying a few minutes extra from April-November, due to the local Farmer's Market), and then we circle Lake Anne and head back to our starting point. It's roughly 3-4 miles and takes about an hour and a half. Afterwards, some members will often head to *Not Your Average Joes* or another local restaurant for a quick drink/meal before tackling the day. This event is open to all ages and fitness levels. Dogs are welcome, and we recommend dressing for the weather (umbrella, water, snow shoes, hat, etc.) since we'll walk rain or shine. Also, feel free to bring a friend! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting we’ll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation’’s lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.
