Silent Book Club: Bring your book to… Wanchai Ferry Pier Rooftop
Lets’s enjoy the cool weather and read al fresco!
I found a new spot overlooking the harbour that is going to be perfect to read. This will be a silent reading session so feel free to bring whatever books you’re reading.
We will meet at the top of the Wan Chai Ferry Pier - take the stairs to get to the rooftop.
.
**Schedule**
10:00-10:15: Say hi and briefly share something about the books we are going to read
10:15-11:15: Silent reading time
11:15-11:30: After reading chat
• If you're late, please quietly join the silent reading session first.
We can catch up when the session's over. :D)
• You can identify the group by spotting people with a book 📕
PS:
If there's a last-minute change of venue due to unforeseen circumstances, the most updated information will be posted in the event's comment section.
PS2
We’re introducing a new RSVP rule for our bookclub due to recent last minute cancellations:
If you change your RSVP to "No" less than 24 hours before the event or do not show up on the day, you won’t be allowed to join the next one.
Of course if you have a valid reason, DM me.
Informal Filmmakers Meetup and Drinks
Whether you are a first-time filmmaker, a seasoned pro, or just curious about meeting other people who love the artistic side of films and filmmaking, you can join us at the Queen Victoria pub in Wan Chai to talk about your experiences, goals, and/or projects.
Perhaps you want to share something you are working on (scripts, storyboards, rough cuts, etc.), or perhaps you're just looking for a bit of inspiration, motivation, or a chance to sit and listen to other people's anecdotes and ideas.
All are welcome, questions are encouraged, and the focus is on getting to know a diverse group of local people who are skilled, motivated, creative, and curious about any or all aspects of filmmaking.
Scrabble
A chilled out Saturday afternoon playing Scrabble / Upwords.
**The Plan**
* 1400 Arrive at Eaton Hotel - go to the food court on Lower Ground floor & look for a table with a Scrabble box.
* Stay and play as long as you want to!
**What To Do**
1. RSVP here
2. Please ensure the organiser knows your Meetup username & the name/pronouns you usually use. If you’re new and/or don’t yet know the organiser, please DM the organiser with this information via Meetup, or join the Scrabble WhatsApp chat within the Tandem community.
Look forward to seeing you there,
Jennifer
**Please note:**
1. Tandem is a community of volunteers; everything you see is created by our members giving up their time and labour. None of our organisers profit from events; any charges listed are those from other parties and we never add a mark-up. In this context, we need attendees to do their best to reduce the workload of our volunteer team by reading the event description and these notes carefully; and follow the instructions in order to register a place on the event. Please be considerate and helpful with our team – we are all volunteers.
2. We run all our event communication through WhatsApp. Please keep track of event related messages in the Whatsapp event group and respond to requests and instructions from organisers within 24hrs. Please don’t put the chat on mute. If our team don’t receive your response within 24hrs, we will move you to “Not Going”.
3. If you require special accessibility accommodations for the event (i.e., accessible venue, accessible restrooms, noise levels, lighting conditions, etc) and are unsure whether they can be met, please reach out to the organiser/host.
4. We encourage language inclusivity at all our events. If you aren't confident in English, please let our team know. We will try to provide bilingual support where possible and/or will try and introduce you to other language speakers you're more comfortable with. Please be mindful that we might not be able to accommodate all languages at all events, but we will do our best to make everyone feel welcome and heard.
5. If you sign up, but can no longer make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and tell the organiser. Updating your RSVP well ahead of the event allows us to manage the waitlist; allow other people to attend; know who to look out for at the start of the event; and manage any relevant bookings, such as table reservations.
6. If you don’t have a clear face pic on your profile and/or your username doesn’t match the name you normally use, we can’t identify your payments nor match your RSVP with who you are in real life. If this is you, please ensure the organiser knows who you are. If we can’t work out who you are within 24hrs of your RSVP, we will move you to “Not Going”.
7. Only group members and their guests with an RSVP may attend events; people who aren’t signed up will be refused entry to events.
8. If you don’t follow the conditions above, we will move you to “Not Going” for future events until you message us to confirm you will follow these conditions.

The Magistrate's Gambit @ One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
**The Magistrate's Gambit**
The bell tower strikes eight. The party begins in one hour. The old magristrate will face the powerful archmage in their annual contest of a game of smickleboard. But this time, the magistrate has a secret weapon-- he's called upon an unlikely team of heroes. Can they work together to solve puzzles, escape monsters, and find all the valuable treasures to expose the cheating archmage in time? The Magistrate’s Gambit is a tournament adventure for the Dragonbane roleplaying game and offers exciting challenges for new and skilled adventurers alike.
**Apotheosis Janitors**
You are an acolyte. Your master has just become a deity. Once, they were only human. Destroy all evidence of that. Apotheosis Janitors is a game about a group of true believers who work together to get rid of everything that could reveal the truth: that the deity they all worship was once a mortal person who went through an apotheosis.
**Spell The RPG**
Even the best thieves have to retire someday. And with that day fast approaching, your crew has decided on one last target, the heist of a lifetime. It's not going to be easy. You'll have to sneak, stab, or spell your way into the vaults of Zykovix Manor, steal the Encyclopedia Vocabula, and vanish without a trace. A single typo could spell 'doom' for you, and it's going to take every word you know to pull this one off. But if you do? They're gonna have to put your damn names in the dictionary
**Apocalypse World: Giant Ants**
Did they come from space? Was it mad science or magic? Their origins are a mystery but their victory is almost total. Giant ants dominate the Earth, leaving humanity to the edges and cracks. What troubles this little holdfast? Are they united in survival or fighting over scraps? Let's play to find out.
WHAT IS ONE-SHOT SATURDAY?
It's a weekly meet-up in Sheung Wan/Central, focusing on indie games and single-session games (one-shots). 而家所有游戏係英文嘅但如果你要嚟玩中文游戏,我哋會無任歡迎。只要湊啱玩家就行!
You can drop in and play at any One-Shot Saturday – you do not need to have played in a previous session or commit to playing again. Whether you've played an RPG before or not, you're welcome to join us.
Please arrive on time as once the games begin it becomes difficult to properly introduce latecomers.

WHAT IS A TABLETOP RPG?
It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world.
Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.

The Perfect Chaos: Going beyond Eye Candies
"I take complex pictures because the world I experience is complicated and ultimately inexplicable place." **Alex Webb**
Hello all. This time as part of an advanced level and challenging theme we would follow celebrated street photographer Alex Webb’s technique while trying with our eye/cameras to explore complex compositions and go beyond eye candies.
We would practice against the photography clichés of “Less is More” and “Keep It Simple Stupid” by “Look for More” and “Fill the Frame”, by composing some visually complex photographs which contain more than one element, have more than one point of focus, by pushing the frame to include more and more, but falling short of chaos.
“Eye Candy” is a photo that looks cool and clean and has exactly one layer of interest. They look great for about half a second and then there is no reason for your eye to linger any longer. In this outing we would try to take pictures that make the eye to move around and see multiple layers/subjects and action.
Have a look at some of the pictures in this event page's album below on the theme. Also do some research on the technique of “Layering” and using “Multiple Subjects” in photography compositions.
Here are some useful youtube videos on the subject to get you started:

**Meeting Time and Place:**
**3pm** at **Sham Shui Po MTR station,** **Exit A2** (street level)
We will meet at **Sham Shui Po MTR station Exit A2** (street level) at **3pm** and then walk around in groups of two to three photographers, then re-group at (venue yet to be decided but would be announced before the outing begins) **5pm** onwards for photo sharing over a drink.
Please post **YOUR BEST FIVE i**mages only for this outing on the meetup site.
For every image you post, please try to comment on at least one other image, no matter if you think you are qualified to comment or not. You can always give some constructive comments with regard to Colour, Tone, Light, Action, Pattern, Balance, Composition, Visual and Emotional appeal of the image/s. This really helps in sharing and learning from each other.
**IMPORTANT:**
Please sign up only if you are coming, those not showing up 2x in a row would be taken off the group list while active members would be given a preference over long inactive members, the last minute habitual dropouts and no-shows.

- 觀察他人情緒反應,從中獲得主控感;
- 在群體中製造戲劇性,以鞏固自己作為「調控者」的地位;
- 讓某些人更頻繁地合作,從而建立默契或依附;
- 故意安排潛在對立者對抗,觀察衝突發展;
- 排除特定人選於核心圈層之外,使其邊緣化;

Improv Workshop
Come join local improv troupe, the ***Home Improv Mints***, as we run through some of the basics of short form improv. Wear clothes you can move around in.
We will start at **7:15**. We will run until just after 9 pm. Bring yourself and a willingness to try new things - like (insert audience suggestion here)!
We try a different topic each session to see if it changes who sees the announcement. There might not be bobwhite imitations, hyena butter, lava floors, trans livestock, thalidomide twinkies or inflatable turnips (all things that HAVE come up), but we can promise something *random*.
But we encourage you to bring cookies. NOM NOM NOM!
We only have so many slots available. **Please don't RSVP as a yes *until* you are certain.** We limit the class size so everyone gets a chance to play, and ask for RSVPs so we know how many outlines to print and cookies to bring.
We understand things change sometimes. Please message us if things change and you can't make it, rather than being a No-Show. Multiple No-shows get you put on the naughty list and may get you ejected from the group. Please don't make us do that.
Please donate - *running* a Meetup group ain't free folks. Suggested Donation is $10/session. And feel free to bring more cookies. Everybody likes cookies.
Hope to see you then!
