How are you? It has been a long time! I would like to re-activate this meetup, because there are so many interesting hardware projects going on in Berlin.
In this next meetup we plan two short presentations.
1\. Bram de Vries\, co\-founder of **Growy**, a fully automated and robotized vertical farm, developed in Berlin, built in Amsterdam. A presentation about the challenges of how to make low-cost automation for the food-industry.
2\. Ahmad Taleb\, co\-founder of **Wunderpen**, automated hand-writing. The story about robots that can write personal messages with a pen, and handling lots of paper and ink.
After that there is plenty of time to network and to talk about your own projects.
The location is at the Office of Growy Germany in Berlin Hohenschönhausen/Lichtenberg. We will take care of snacks and drinks.

...this space is safe to fail!

Asian Languages & Culture Exchange 🍜日本語, 한국어, 汉语🍥
This is a 3 phase meetup. You can come at any time.
1.) 6:30 -7:00 p.m.: Gathering at the meeting spot (see gmaps link!)
2.) 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.: Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court.
3.) 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.: Immerse conversations in the Kerb food court.
🪑: Reserved tables for the meetup.
💸: 20 % discount for the drinks if we are at least 15 people!
**1.) How to the find Quartier 205 Stadtmitte:**
[https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA](https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA)
The exact meeting spot can be seen in the photo below!
We meet on the 1st floor where the trash sculpture can be seen. Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it.
**2.) Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court**
The best part. In order to extend the walk we'll stroll all the way to Brandenburger gate and from there to the former Sony Center where we are going to enter the Kerb food court.
**3\. How to find the Kerb food court**
[https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7)
Kerb is located at the former Sony Center. The new flagship food court of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be sitting upstairs on the first floor next to the bar (take the stairs to the left).
***Best ways to get there:***
1\. U2 \(subway\):
Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk around 7 min to Kerb.
2\. Bus M41 or M85
Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk 5 min to Kerb.
*Who is this meetup for:*
1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\.
2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\.
3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\.
*What you can expect:*
1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\.
2\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\.
*important: This event is held at the same time and meeting location like the "Networking & Language Exchange - 🍖international🍻" one. So I'm basically organizing 2 events at the same time which means that you can expect way more people than on the list.*
***
Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?"
You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did.
From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach.
“A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie
If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily.
Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on.
Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship.
This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.
Conflict to Connection: A Queer Zine workshop
**Conflict to Connection: A Queer Zine workshop**
with Sará Král
event for **LGBTQIA+**
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/zine-workshop/w03-2026)**
To conclude the Conflict & Resilience project, we invite all participants from Radical Empathy — Queer Storytelling, the working group Conflicts as Opportunities, and anyone interested to come together and create a conflictual zine.
This workshop has a hands-on, collective, and experimental character. Queer lives are shaped by tension – between belonging and exclusion, visibility and erasure, intimacy and distance. Instead of smoothing over these contradictions, we want to make them visible and work with their energy. Conflicts become starting points for creativity, connection, and shared learning.
Together, we’ll create a zine that captures our experiences, questions, and frictions. Words, texts, fragments, collages, drawings, or notes – everything can find its place in this collective process. We’ll exchange ideas, tell stories, and weave individual voices into a shared expression. It’s going to be a collective zine – each participant will make a certain number of pages with their contribution. Zine-making is more than an artistic practice – it’s an act of self-empowerment and community building. By sharing our stories, we create space for diversity, contradiction, and mutual inspiration.
Open to all ages and backgrounds – whether you’re making a zine for the first time or already have experience. Bring your ideas, your questions, and your conflicts – and let’s turn them into something new, together. Participants are invited to prepare a small contribution for the zine — such as a conflict story, poem or crossword — and bring any visual materials (magazines, stickers, cut-outs, photos) to support it
**General information**
**Participant**: this workshop series is open to LGBTQIA+ people.
**Language**: Depending on the group’s needs, sessions will be held in German and/or English.
**Cost**: Free of charge, registration required.
🔵

The Outsider by Stephen King
To kick off 2026, we're reading the master, Stephen King, with one of his later entries, The Outsider.
From Amazon: "An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively listenable stories.
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King's propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can."

Already have a skill you want to contribute to a Kaggle Datascience competition? We will work on these too! Laptop required :)
Capoeira
Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.
The session is offered InStudio only. **Sign up at www.piesfitnessyoga.com required at least two hours before class begins.**
The address is 1322 Prince St Alexandria, VA 22314.
Our entrance is located on the side of the building, parallel to West St. **Street parking is available and additional parking is located at Shiloh Baptist church, spaces 36,37,38,39.** The church is located across the street from the studio, on the corner of Duke St. and West St.
Reston Happy Hour: Scaling Cloud Infrastructure for Heavy Workloads
Gaming, AdTech, EdTech, Media Streaming, and FinTech are just a few of the workloads where high-availability cloud infrastructure matters. Whether you’re doing battle daily in one of these spaces or are just curious about ways to improve performance, meet us in Reston for an in-person discussion on bare metal cloud architecture. You’ll meet our product lead, James MacKenzie, who will walk through how modern bare metal serves as a control plane for hybrid and private cloud architectures.
**What we will cover**
* Ways to leverage bare metal, containers, and orchestration for better performance and predictable economics;
* Real-world hybrid, disaster recovery, and data-intensive architectures;
* Our approach to eliminating ingress and egress fees.
**Who should attend**
* Cloud architects and platform engineers;
* DevOps professionals and infrastructure leads;
* FinOps stakeholders managing data-heavy or hybrid workloads.
**Why attend**
This is a technical, architecture-first conversation. You will leave with a clearer understanding of high-availability cloud infrastructure and how organizations are scaling cost-effectively.
Food and drinks will be provided. Space is limited to keep the discussion interactive.
