Re:Construct // AI ร AEC
Re:Construct // AI ร AEC
We're back!
This meetup looks at how AI is reshaping the way we design, coordinate, and deliver buildings. Short, pointed talks will show real examples from practice: where AI helps, where it fails, and what it actually enables today.
If you're an architect, engineer, or tech professional curious about the next wave of tools and workflows, this is a chance to see what's emerging and connect with others pushing the field forward.

๐ฏ Masterclass: Build Your First AI Agent โ From 0 to a Real Working Assistant
### ๐ฏ **Masterclass: Build Your First AI Agent โ From Zero to a Real Working Assistant**
๐ Curious about AI agents but not sure how they actually work?
Youโve used ChatGPTโฆ but what if AI could **think, use tools, search the web, and take actions for you**?
Welcome to **the year of AI agents** โ and your first step into building one yourself.
Join our hands-on **Masterclass: โBuild Your First AI Agentโ**, an interactive workshop designed to help you understand and build AI agents **the modern, practical way** โ with real tools, real use cases, and real results.
๐ก This beginner-friendly masterclass introduces the new generation of AI systems: agents that donโt just answer questions, but **reason, act, and complete multi-step tasks**.
***
### Youโll learn how to:
โจ Understand the difference between an AI chatbot and an AI agent
๐ง Learn how agents think using tools, memory, and reasoning loops
๐ค Build your first AI agent step-by-step (no AI background required)
๐ Create a Research Assistant that searches the web in real time
๐ Make your agent perform accurate calculations and structured reasoning
โก Understand where AI agents are heading (GPT-5, multi-agent systems, enterprise use)
***
### What youโll build:
A **working AI Research Assistant** that can:
* Search the web for current information
* Answer complex questions with sources
* Remember conversation context
* Perform calculations and multi-step reasoning
Youโll leave with **real code** you can reuse, extend, and customize.
***
### ๐งโ๐ป Who is this for?
* Beginners with basic Python knowledge
* Developers curious about AI agents
* Entrepreneurs, product builders, and tech enthusiasts
* Anyone who wants to go beyond โpromptingโ and actually **build AI**
***
### ๐ Tech stack used:
* OpenAI API (GPT-4o-mini)
* LangChain (agent framework)
* Web search tools (DuckDuckGo)
๐ฐ Cost per student: only a few cents (OpenAI provides free credits for new users)

Rise of the Agents: Building the Next Generation of AI Systems
Autonomous AI agents are moving fast ! from cool demos to real systems powering workflows, customer support, research, engineering, and internal ops. But the big question remains: **how do we actually run them in production?**
[Batel Zohar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/batelzohar/?skipRedirect=true) & **[Mey Beisaron](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ladymey/)**
## **Shipping AI Agents: What Really Happens in Production**
Shipping AI agents is exciting, but once they hit production, you quickly discover what the demos didnโt prepare you for.
In this talk, weโll share the **real best practices** that emerged only after breaking things ourselves what failed, what surprised us, and what we wish we knew earlier. Youโll hear about the common pitfalls teams run into, the patterns that actually improve stability, how to manage unpredictable behavior, and the guardrails and evaluations that make agents safer and easier to operate.
The goal is simple: **help you avoid the mistakes weโve already made** and give you a realistic, practical approach to running AI agents in production without the chaos.

**The AI Parliament: Our Multi-Agent RAG Setup for Smarter Decisions at Work**
At Semperis, we've got a tool simulating a personal squad of AI consultants for our team. It helps our team tackle industry-specific challenges. This approach is inspired by research from both academia and the industry.
We built the **AI Parliament** around a multi-agent system, where each AI "consultant" has its own specialized role - like a Senior Engineer, a Data Whiz, each with its own personality to keep it realistic. These personas get created on the fly for the specific purpose of fulfilling the user's immediate goal. When they operate, they're pulling from our company's knowledge base (RAG), so their advice feels tailored and draws on our actual history.

AI-First Coding: Closing the Gap Between Skeptics and Practitioners in Dev Teams
AI coding tools are everywhere now, but adoption is uneven. Some developers use them daily; others remain skeptical. Getting a whole team on board is harder than it looks.
This meetup explores the practical side of that challenge โ how to bridge the gap between enthusiasts and skeptics, and what actually works when rolling out AI coding across a team.
Evgeny Potapov, engineering manager with over 20 years of experience and cofounder of US-based startup ApexData, will share lessons from 1.5 years of navigating this shift:
โ Why some developers hesitate, and the psychology behind it
โ What gets adopted easily, and which team practices help
โ When AI coding won't work and forcing adoption makes no sense
โ How to push back when AI is the wrong tool for the job
If you're a developer, tech lead, or engineering manager facing similar questions, this is a chance to learn from real experience and connect with others on the same path.

Mostly Romance Book Club
Hey all!
My name is Sarah, I'm a romance girlie in my twenties, and welcome to the Mostly Romance Book Club! I am a big mood reader so assigned books at book clubs don't really do it for me. I wanted to create a space where anyone can come with whatever book they want, meet new friends, and chat about what they've been reading.
When:
First and third Thursday of every month, starting in February.
7-8:30 pm.
Schedule:
First 30 minutes: Introductions and chat about all things books
Next 45 minutes: Silently read your personal physical book, ebook, or audiobook (yes audiobooks count :))
Last 15 minutes: Chat some more and wrap up the meeting
NOVA Code & Coffee [160] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. People of all skill levels are invited. The concept is simple, bring a laptop and ideas, we'll provide the coffee and donuts! Here's how it works:
1. At 10:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc)
2. For the rest of the day, folks work in the communal space on their projects providing one another help and conversation as needed. Oh and they usually drink coffee and tea too!
That's it! Hope to see you there!

Verre ๐ท January 2026 Blind Wine Tasting!
First one of 2026 at Verre in Virginia, come on out and let's kick off the post-holiday wine season!
**EVENT STARTS AT 6PM. PLEASE BE PROMPT.**
๐ทWhat is blind wine tasting?๐ท
You use your sense of smell, sight, and taste to try to deduce which variety (grape) is in the glass.
This group is very experience-diverse and we welcome both wine newbies and wine pros (and everyone in between).
Verre will pour us two wine flights, one white and one red (3 of each, so a total of 6 wine samples) and we will discuss what we are tasting to try to solve the mystery together. After each flight is a big reveal where we find out just how right (or wrong!) we were.
Diana will let us know the possible wines we are going on grid tonight.
Please arrive at **6:00pm**. The white wine flight is served around 6:10 and the red flight around 6:50. The cost will be about $15 per flight, depending on what is poured for us. Food and other wine will be available for purchase as well.
๐ทRSVPs: Verre has a limited amount of table space and is reserving much of that space for our group. Out of consideration to the business, the event hosts, and anyone on the wait list, **please edit your RSVP as soon as possible if your plans change** and you can no longer attend the event, **even if you are on the wait list**.
๐ทTransportation:
* METRO: Verre Wine Bar is walking distance from Courthouse metro.
* CAR: Metered street parking and paid garage parking are available in the area.
Hope to see you there!

Waitlisted Friends! \*PLEASE\* keep an eye on this page and your messages especially close to the day of the event. Thanks!
