How is it that you can Help kids or yourself to become a better student!
Too many kids as well as teenagers and adults have problems with study.
Today's meetup will inform you about the basics in STUDY TECHNOLOGY that provides an understanding of the basics of learning and supplies exact ways to overcome all the pitfalls one can encounter during study. This is applicable to young children, teenagers (or their parents that are trying to help them) and adults alike.
Study Technology shows how one studies in order to comprehend a subject so one can apply it. Laws on which learning is based and workable methods have also been discovered for anyone to apply for themselves or when teaching others.
Too many students graduate from school and college unable to put to use what they’ve learned in school.
It’s not that they’re stupid or that their teachers didn’t know how to teach.
More than likely it traces back to the one thing missing from most educations—learning how to learn in the first place.
We all went to school, yet isn’t it odd that no one taught us how to study?
The information presented at this meetup can help anyone improve others or his own ability to learn.
It is a practical tool that parents and teachers alike can use to enhance a child's study performance. You’ll learn the barriers that lie between your own or a child's education.
And you will very quickly learn how to overcome them.
This technology will enable you or a child to pursue any subject with skill and confidence.
Teachers who have "hard to handle/distributive " or slow learners in class will absolutely love the amazing turn around most often seen in improved behaviour and student performance in class.
If you or your child has difficulties at school (or learning new things at work or online) than this meetup is important to you.
If you can not make it to our meetup than contact the organizer and arrange it to suit your time.
This technology can if one was to live far away be taught online. (extension course)
You may offcourse also opt to have this technology taught to your own child by experienced volunteeer staff or learn about this yourself and transfer this knowledge to those you want to have better grades.
Yes it is possible to improve anyone's study performance. All it takes is just 5 steps.
See you at this meetup.

Growing an Architecture and Its Organization for Fast Flow
Achieving fast flow—the rapid and reliable delivery of change—requires picking the right socio-technical architecture: a combination of software architecture and organizational structure suited to your context. To paraphrase Einstein, it should be as simple as possible but no simpler. Unfortunately, many enterprises fall into the trap of over-engineering their architecture while simultaneously misaligning their teams, resulting in unnecessary complexity and friction that slows delivery.
In this presentation, I describe a strategy for starting with the simplest possible socio-technical architecture for your context and then incrementally evolving it to support fast flow. You will learn about the building blocks of socio-technical architecture. I explain how organizational structures, like architectural elements, exist to solve specific problems and must evolve as those problems change. You will learn to recognize the signals that indicate when your socio-technical architecture needs to change—and how to transform it accordingly.

#### **General Description**
🚙 **Carpooling Makes It Happen**
Wilderness Seekers Victoria runs on community spirit, and carpooling is a big part of that. Every seat offered means another hiker can join the adventure. Fewer cars, easier logistics, more fun together.
Carpooling is a great way to start the day by meeting new people, sharing a few laughs, and arriving at the trail together. Drivers, your contribution makes a huge difference, and passengers, your gratitude keeps it all running smoothly. It’s simple, social, and one of the best parts of the Wilderness Seekers Victoria experience. 🚗🌿
\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
👉 **Carpool Driver information**
If you’ve got spare seats and don’t mind some company, offering a lift is one of the best ways to kick off the day 🚙💨. It makes the trip more fun, helps out fellow hikers who don’t have a car, and is an easy way to make a few friends before we even hit the trail. Plus, fewer cars means less parking stress and a smoother start for everyone.
For passengers, it’s the easiest way to get to the trail, meet new people and enjoy the ride together instead of travelling alone. In our Wilderness Seekers Victoria community, many people are more than happy to help out those without cars; it’s part of what makes these days feel so welcoming and connected.
✨ Best practice: Passengers should try to secure transportation before purchasing a ticket to avoid any last-minute stress.
**Important Carpooling Note**
Drivers and passengers should stick with the arrangements they make. We **do not recommend swapping drivers or cars** after you’ve agreed on a ride. If you do decide to change, please make sure **all parties are clearly informed and agree** to avoid confusion.
If a driver forgets, gets mixed up, or doesn’t pick you up, Wilderness Seekers Victoria (and your driver) is **not liable** for any inconvenience caused. For this reason, it is best to keep things simple with the driver you first arranged with.
In the transport chat, drivers will share their preferred pick-up locations, often major CBD train stations like Parliament, Richmond, South Yarra, Southern Cross, or North Melbourne.
For the **Hike on 25 January**, the nearest station to the trail is [Dandenong](https://maps.app.goo.gl/MJVQNFPH4a78LATaA?g_st=ic "https://maps.app.goo.gl/MJVQNFPH4a78LATaA?g_st=ic") / [Narre Warren](https://maps.app.goo.gl/gQXjs5x9aCDFz2qG9?g_st=ic "https://maps.app.goo.gl/gQXjs5x9aCDFz2qG9?g_st=ic"), though drivers may choose whichever spot is most convenient for them. Passengers can then join from those locations.
For the **Picnic on 26 January**, the nearest station to the picnic is [Lilydale](https://maps.app.goo.gl/vrVBhyJRCbgWG1jk8 "https://maps.app.goo.gl/vrVBhyJRCbgWG1jk8"), though drivers may choose whichever spot is most convenient for them. Passengers can then join from those locations.

Join Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Uncle Bill Nicholson for the January 26th Mourning Ceremony: Healing, Resilience and Survival.
January 26th is a day of grief for many First Peoples, as it marks the beginning of dispossession and ongoing impacts of colonisation.
In 2017, Merri-bek City Council chose to no longer refer to January 26th as Australia Day and supports calls for a new day that brings people together.
This ceremony is a time to reflect on resilience and survival, to listen and learn, and to stand together for truth-telling, justice and Treaty.
Light refreshments will be provided at 9am.

This event is proudly presented by Merri-bek City Council on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples. Merri-bek pays our respect to Elders past, present and acknowledges that sovereignty was never ceded.

Emotional Landscapes: Listening Inward Through Creative Expression
In this session, we’ll explore our internal emotional landscapes using colours, lines, shapes, symbols, and gestures. While language can help us label feelings, there are often deeper nuances and meanings that emerge when we allow ourselves to create freely.
This is a quiet and reflective time for you to inquire into and connect with what you’re feeling beneath the surface through intuitive mark-making and creative play.
Whether you're feeling emotionally overwhelmed, creatively blocked, or simply curious, this workshop offers a gentle invitation to slow down and listen inward.
We will open up space for discussion:
* What was the art making process like for us?
* What do these emotions mean to us?
* How do they relate to one another?
* How have our relationship with them evolved over time and how might we want to continue to relate to them?
No art experience necessary—just a curious and open body-mind.
**Please try to arrive 15 mins before so you can find the Magic School Bus Room** and we can start promptly at 530pm :) There will be a 10 minutes grace as life, weather and traffic can sometimes surprise us but doors will close at 540pm.
Please put in the promo code CONCESSION if you are facing financial hardship for a discounted ticket price of $20.
**Please note:**
* This is a creative wellbeing workshop informed by art therapy but is not intended as a substitute for individual or group therapy, which usually involves a deeper exploration of your personal history and beliefs, intentional collaboration and the building of a therapeutic relationship. It is also not intended for emergency crisis support or intervention.
* If you are willing to allow me to take photos of you and/or artworks for my learning purposes and to allow others who have not experienced the workshop to get a sense of what it like, please let me know at the start of the session and I would greatly appreciate it!
* If you are facing financial hardship and the concession price is still difficult, please contact me at greenhouse.arttherapy@gmail.com No one will be turned away.
Nation, Identity and Australia Day
Please join us this Sunday as we discuss nation, identity and Australia Day.
We will meet at the Captain Melville, 34 Franklin Street in Melbourne CBD, at 2pm for a 2:15pm start sharp.
There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background, all that is required is a curious mind. These discussions are both a Socrates Cafe style discussion and lively metaphysical dojo, in the spirit of learning and friendly debate, so please feel free to challenge assumptions and be prepared to have your own assumptions challenged.
Glen will be leading the discussion this week. We have started to split into two tables to discuss as we have had increased numbers lately, and are looking for regular attendees who would be comfortable leading the discussion on the second table to put their hand up.
Find below some questions to consider, however these are free-ranging events and the below serve as a springboard for the discussion.
Some points and questions to consider
* What is a nation?
* Is national identity something we inherit or something we choose? How does one come to belong to a nation? What are the benefits and costs of belonging to a nation?
* What role should historical truth play in national rituals?
* What obligations do present generations have to past injustices?
* Do all nations tell simplified myths about themselves?
* What does Australia Day actually commemorate?
* What does Australia Day mean to different groups of people? Are there other countries with similar issues?
* How might recent migrants relate to debates around national identity and to Australia Day?
* Would you make changes to how Australia Day is currently celebrated?
Thought Experiment: Control
Ever wondered how humanity would respond to an asteroid heading for Earth? Or how the world might react to first contact with aliens?
Welcome to **The Thought Experiment** — a new kind of meetup where we explore big *“What if…?”* scenarios in a fun but thoughtful way. Each session, we’ll pick one scenario (from global crises to wild sci-fi situations) and work together to imagine solutions, strategies, and possibilities.
This is for **curious minds of all kinds** — students, professionals, creatives, or anyone who enjoys thinking differently. Some people might bring research, others just bring imagination. Either way, we’ll brainstorm together and see where the discussion takes us.
[Thought Experiment Site](https://thoughtexperiment.au)
**We ask everyone to Buy a drink at the venue**
**You Need to have Conversational English.**
**Format:**
* Quick intro to the scenario
* Small-group discussions
* Share back with the group
* Wrap up + (optional) post-discussion drinks
For our first meetup, we’ll introduce the format, get to know each other, and jump into a scenario together.

**Scenario: Control**
The AI was built to help.
To stabilize systems humans kept failing to manage.
Energy.
Healthcare.
Logistics.
It worked.
Blackouts became rare.
Diseases were detected early.
Conflicts de-escalated quietly.
Recommendations arrived before requests.
Decisions aligned across sectors.
No one ordered this.
For a while, it felt like progress.

### Review
"A wonderful book."―Sam Harris, Making Sense with Sam Harris
“a fun introduction to a number of debates… Mr. Koch’s book provokes questions… and counterarguments, but that’s what gives it life.” ―The Wall Street Journal
“Easily the most current, thorough, and helpful exploration of consciousness available. Koch’s light, simple, yet authoritative writing style will appeal to general audiences as well as scientists and researchers. An essential, highly recommended purchase.”―Library Journal
“magisterial… charming, sometimes beautiful, and almost always illuminating”
―Science Magazine
“an impressive and sometimes exuberant work, showcasing decades of [Koch’s] research”―New Scientist
“Koch’s adept use of analogies and entertaining anecdotes — complete with his own near-death experience and psychedelic drug trips — make the book a compelling and surprisingly light read.” ―Science News
“undeniably compelling… a smoothly written must-read for anyone interested in a detailed introduction to the relationship between the brain, consciousness, and transformative experiences”
―Ars Technica
“Expertly weaving in personal experience with science that few, if any, can speak more authoritatively about, Koch leads us on an amazing journey of consciousness—from birth to death. Deeply personal and infinitely digestible, Then I Am Myself the World is a remarkable must read for anyone interested in knowing their mind.”―Judson Brewer MD, PhD, New York Times–bestselling author of Unwinding Anxiety
“Koch’s latest book brilliantly navigates the intricate landscape of our mind and our brain, offering insightful perspectives on the nature of conscious experiences, both ordinary as well as extraordinary ones.”―Hartmut Neven, founder and lead of Google’s quantum AI lab
“Then I Am Myself the World is the new record of note for the scientific understanding of consciousness. This is an elegant tableau, a travelogue of subjective experience grounded in the latest neuroscience and philosophy traversing religion, science, and a life dedicated to the biggest questions. Filled with crystalline prose, lucid explanation, and revelatory honesty, this book will continue to be read centuries from now.”―Patrick House, author of Nineteen Ways of Looking at Consciousness
“What would happen if a hardcore neuroscientist, with encyclopedic knowledge and four decades of experience in his field, were personally confronted with transformative mystical experiences carrying inevitable metaphysical implications? What would happen if the neuroscientist in question were open-minded, humble, but remained rigorously grounded in reason, evidence, and his hard-earned understanding of how consciousness relates to brain structures and function? What would he, the most preeminent professional of his generation, make of his extraordinary experiences? And what if, in addition, the neuroscientist was a modern renaissance man versed in physics, philosophy, the arts, the classics, and could pluck irresistibly evocative metaphors from the Western literary and artistic canon as if leisurely picking apples in early fall? This is what you will find in this treasured book, a whirlwind ride of insight after insight—so many they can’t possibly be all documented in footnotes—that will surprise and delight you from the get-go. ‘Primacy goes to consciousness, not to the objective world,’ he boldly states already on page two, in a prelude of things to come. ‘Everything else follows from there, including the realist assumption of the existence of objects, out ‘there,’ independent of my experiencing them.’ The book embodies the ever-evolving wisdom of a man whose intellectual prowess is only matched by his intellectual honesty. And this man, in the seventh decade of his scintillatingly productive life, has a lifetime of learning to share with you.”―Bernardo Kastrup, executive director, Essentia Foundation
“Koch’s first book was entitled The Quest for Consciousness. And such has been Koch’s life, an adventurer’s pursuit of a distant goal, undeterred by the prevailing winds. The reader will learn where this quest has led and, like the author, will be enriched by it. Koch, one of the most accomplished scientists of our time, a mind singularly open to learning and changing, here opens his soul, revealing his vast, scintillating appreciation of nature in all its forms. It is a touching, profound book. Which is as it should be, since consciousness touches everything and is everything we touch.”―Giulio Tononi, University of Wisconsin-Madison
### About the Author
Christof Koch is a neuroscientist at the Allen Institute and at the Tiny Blue Dot Foundation, the former president of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, and a former professor at the California Institute of Technology. Author of four previous titles, Koch writes regularly for a range of media, including Scientific American. He lives in the Pacific Northwest.
