🚀 **Enabling Rapid Experimentation: Unifying Analytics and ML Data in Databricks**
Enabling teams to rapidly experiment with new AI models requires breaking down silos between analytical data and ML training datasets. At Superhuman, we consolidated both into Databricks as we scaled from a writing assistant to an agent platform. In this talk, we will:
* Share our journey from our fragmented data systems to a unified platform in Databricks
* Walk through design choices on how we organize Workspaces, Unity Catalog, and data ingestion
* Explain how we apply and manage our privacy policies, governance, and access control
🚀 **Rebuilding the Engine: Migrating Data Systems While Keeping Products Moving**
During this talk, we'll explore how to migrate core data systems while maintaining product velocity amid organizational and architectural change.
We’ll cover:
* The migration philosophy behind translate vs. transplant, and when each approach makes sense
* Key data validation challenges encountered during system migrations
* How to scope migration efforts realistically under time and delivery pressure
* Architectural trade-offs and lessons learned from high-impact decisions
**About Speakers**:
**[Niels van Kaam](https://www.linkedin.com/in/niels-van-kaam-aa731768/)** is a tech lead for the ML Data team at Superhuman, where he’s building the data foundation for the company’s transition from a writing assistant to an agent platform. Previously, he worked on large-scale data systems for ad-tech at Amadeus Berlin and on geospatial applications for startups in the Netherlands.
**[Dave Heberer](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dave-heberer/)** is a software engineer at Superhuman with nearly 25 years of experience building data infrastructure across major tech companies. Doors close 3 minutes after we begin — to support safety and full presence.
### What to Expect
If you're tired of small talk, dating apps, or social spaces that feel disconnected — you're not alone.
In just 30 minutes, you’ll experience how our Connection Games create a different kind of space: grounded, spacious, playful, and real.
This is not a drop-in or matchmaking event.
It’s a slow, intentional process of meeting people who care about conscious relating, emotional awareness, and nervous system-regulated connection.
After completing a Required Pre-Event Access Call, you’ll be invited to join our events in the city you are based or locations you visit regularly (more than 20+ locations worldwide).
### What You’ll Walk Away With
Presence & Ease
No performance. No pressure. Just being yourself — and meeting others doing the same.
Friendships That Matter
Many walk away with deep, lasting friendships. Sometimes romance unfolds. That said, the focus is on connection — and growth.
Relational Skills That Stay With You
Our games and practices support self-awareness, curiosity, and co-regulation — tools you can bring into conversations anywhere: dates, friendships, even family dinners.
### How to Join
Everyone starts with a Required Pre-Event Access Call — unless personally invited by one of our members.
This helps us create intentional, safe, and aligned spaces.

* You’re new in town, navigating change, or done with modern dating fatigue
* You value personal growth, mindfulness, and authentic connection
* You’re curious about yourself and others
Some people leave the call thinking:
“Where have you all been my whole life?”
Others realize it’s not their scene — and that’s perfect too.
### Already Know This Is Your Scene?
Or just want to put your name down for your city?

Tech talks at Mozilla
Save the date! The Mozilla Meetup series continues with talks focused on modern web technologies.
To account for typical **no-show rates**, we’ve opened more RSVP spots than we can physically accommodate. Based on our last event, only about 36 of 100 registered participants (including Mozillians) attended in person. **We will admit attendees on a first-come, first-served basis and will need to close the doors once we reach room capacity (around 50 people).**
Note that this event operates under the [Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines](https://www.mozilla.org/about/governance/policies/participation/).
**18:00** \- Doors open
**18:30** \- Tracking \(Protection\) Everywhere
There are a variety of tracking vectors on the web. But how exactly does this tracking work and what mechanism do we have available to protect our privacy?
This talk takes a closer look at the many anti-tracking mechanisms Firefox uses to protect its users, and discusses the threat models behind them and the practical protection they provide.
Bio: Manuel Bucher is a software engineer on the Firefox Privacy team working on anti-tracking in Firefox
**19:30:** No Servers, No APIs: AI in the Browser
I’ll present how modern web technologies make it possible to run AI models directly in the browser combining WebLLM and WebAssembly to deliver powerful, privacy-preserving client-side AI experiences. For more context, here’s a related article I wrote for Mozilla AI: [https://blog.mozilla.ai/3w-for-in-browser-ai-webllm-wasm-webworkers/](https://blog.mozilla.ai/3w-for-in-browser-ai-webllm-wasm-webworkers/)
**Bio:** Barış Güler is an engineering leader working on in-browser AI systems that leverage WebLLM, WASM, and web platform features to bring AI inference and tooling into client environments. ASL Sunday Silent Social at Fairfax's Wegmans
Whether you're Deaf, HoH, an interpreter, an ASL student, or just want to learn or practice American Sign Language (ASL), we welcome all levels of signers to come join us for an evening of ASL socializing and practice.
This event occurs on the first and third Sundays of every month, in the heart of Fairfax County at the Fairfax Wegman's (corner of Route 29 and Monument Drive). We can be found on the upper level, typically near the stairs. We generally start around 7 pm.
ASL beginners are welcome, but you should know the ASL alphabet and some basic signs - this is not an ASL class, but the more experienced signers are generally happy to help beginners learn and improve. There is no better way to develop your signing skills then by joining the conversation with other signers. There is a place for everyone to join, learn and practice. Regardless, we are always welcoming so don’t be discouraged to attend; this is very informal and new folks are always welcome.
Note, some attendees arrive early and grab some of Wegman’s food for dinner, so you can combine a shopping trip with the ASL practice.
Bethesda Saturday Morning Soccer
Right off of I-270, easily accessible. Join us for a fun and friendly pickup soccer game. Games will be held at Walter Johnson High School turf field every Saturday.
Look for a red tote bag. When coming to the field. If the field is closed for the day. Backup location will be Stratton Local Park, a 5 min drive from the HS.
We will group up and split into two teams to play. Preferably bring a light and dark shirt. To make organizing teams easier.
No harsh language
No harsh fouls
Come to play for fun
Karaoke
Join Neurodivergent District for a night of camaraderie over karaoke. We are excited to celebrate the 30th birthday of one of our members and hosts, Patrick R.
We have a 6:30 reservation with limited seating. If you arrive later, you may not have a seat. We're still happy to have you come and join us.
This venue can be **loud and overstimulating** for some, so please feel free to bring supports that help (earplugs, noise-canceling headphones, taking breaks outside, etc.). And no pressure to sing — you’re welcome to cheer others on and/or just come to socialize.
**Please note:** you’re responsible for any food/drink charges you accrue. We look forward to seeing you.
Ashburn Chess Club Saturday Night Chess!
New Date and Time starting in May 2024. Sunday Night Chess is now Saturday Night Chess! Casual Chess: informal skittles games or optionally with Clocks (Blitz, Rapid, Quick, or custom time controls). Meetups of Ashburn Chess Club are held on 2nd floor of the Wegmans supermarket, 45131 Columbia Pl, Sterling, VA 20166, located in the Dulles Centre Shoppes Plaza which is just off the Waxpool Road Exit on Route 28 expressway. To find the chess games, take the elevator or stairs up to the 2nd floor mezzanine level. If there are RSVP the host will usually arrive a few minutes early to set up tables in the center mezzanine section located near the Kids Room with the TV. Guests, walk-ins, kibitzers are all welcome too; we request minor children to be accompanied by an adult, and we request only chess players RSVP, members and guests who are attending to play chess, so we have an accurate count of chessboards needed to set up.
