Charcuterie Board: Meaty Board Game Night
Charcuterie Board: Meaty Board Game Night
_Games this month:_ the birds and the bees! Wingspan, Apiary, and more! **A note from the organizers:** We see that this is becoming a popular event and so there's not a ton of space available for general non Patreon members rsvp'ing via meetup. Space is limited by how many volunteers we have to host games each month, and first access goes to the members of the Patreon who support everything DCGG does. We have the goal to train and provide additional staff for this event as we gain capacity. **Note: If you are a member of the Patreon and have already secured early access via the form you do NOT need to RSVP on Meetup.** By popular demand and with the amazing friendship of the Highbinder Bar, we are introducing the **Charcuterie Board!** These are meaty games for experienced tabletop players or players who are comfortable with complexity. **About the Games** This series will focus on bringing experienced tabletop fans and meaty games together. These games will include titles with rulesets that are a bit more complex, take a bit more time, and are often strategic and competitive. DCGG will curate the games and provide trained game hosts to help get games going quickly and make sure all players are supported as they learn and engage with the games. The month's games will be in the title of this event. **Who this event is for:** Self-declared board game enthusiasts and/or people people looking to get into the hobby of tabletop games. While our game hosts will be there to help explain the game and rules, this event is targeted at players who are comfortable learning lots of rules and dedicating a few hours to a single game. And as always, DCGG enforces polite and healthy play spaces. **Not into complex games or just not ready for the meaty games?** Please explore our other events, such as Meat You at Fat Pete's or Rhythm and Brews, which have more party-focused and easy- to mid-level games. **What if we don't have enough players?** Through the power of teamwork and friendship, we will find a way for everyone to play and have a good time. **Please arrive on time, or else your space will be forfeit (cuz we often cant wait for people to get games going).** **BUT WAIT THERES MORE:** If you are interested in becoming a Supporting Member and enjoying perks like: * **Early RSVP Access:** Supporting Members will get early access to RSVPing to regular events. * **Town Hall meeting:** Supporting Members will be invited to participate in town halls and polls that will help determine how revenue past operating costs is directed. * **Discounted Ticket:** In the event that DCGG hosts paid ticketed events in the future, Supporting Members will be offered discounted prices. * The knowledge that you make all this possible! Visit the Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/DCGamingGroup Feel free to join the DC Gaming Community by hopping into the Discord: https://discord.gg/NP7v7VF **Disclaimer and Community Code of Conduct:** The DC Gaming Group is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for participants. to learn more about our code of conduct you can read more here. Paws and Pints 🐈 🍺 (Valentine’s Edition! 💕)
Paws and Pints 🐈 🍺 (Valentine’s Edition! 💕)
Grab a pint and a feline friend and meet us at the pub. Your cat might be under 21, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t drink! Let’s unwind after work with paws and pints at a local happy hour. With Valentine’s Day coming up, wearing red or pink (either youself or your cat) Is encouraged! Feel free to come with or without a cat and get ready to socialize and raise a glass with fellow cat lovers. 🍻 This is a great opportunity to make new friends. If you get there before 7, happy hour will still be going on. Drinks cost $3 to $5! I will order some appetizers for the table. This place is super chill and lets cats inside (I chatted with the workers, they LOVE pets) so we will be meeting inside unless the weather is really good. Due to this we probably will be keeping the cats in their carriers for the most part if we are inside. I will be bringing my cat Misty and we would love to meet you! If you bring your cat, make sure they are wearing a collar, harness, leash, in a backpack, carrier, and/or stroller. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! 🅿️ Parking: Parking is available at two different parking garages in the Rockville Town Center: Garage A Entrances located off of Maryland Avenue and 355. Garage B Entrance located off of Maryland Avenue. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes and after that it is $3 for up to 3 hours. You pay at a kiosk in the garage before you leave and present the ticket at the exit. There is some street parking but not a lot. Ⓜ️ Metro: The bar is walking distance from the Rockville station off the red line towards Shady Grove. Heads up: this is a loud environment so I would not recommend this event for cats that are not used to being out and about.

Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Join our partners Watermark Woods Native Plants, Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL), and Birch Tree Bookstore for the Read! Plant! Grow! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting we’ll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation’’s lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production. You can either buy the book from Birch Tree Bookstore or contact Allison Forbes at [Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov](mailto:Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov) to borrow a copy of the book at the library. There are two ways to participate: attend the event online via the library website or [sign up to participate in person at Birch Tree Bookstore](https://www.birchtreebookstore.com/event-details/read-plant-grow-2026-02-24-18-30). ***Questions:*** *Contact [info@loudounwildlife.org](mailto:info@loudounwildlife.org)*.
