**What we are about:** Life drawing sessions every Wednesday 7.30pm-9.30pm This class is for all drawing levels, aiming to improve your own drawing style and learning about drawing the human form and anatomy in a relaxed and friendly environment. The class invites you to study guided or untutored with professional models in a variety of different poses. Usually we begin with a series of short poses and warm up exercises from 1min to 5mins. Followed by longer studies of 10, 15 and 20mins. We have a small break and the we’ll continue with a 25 min pose and concluding with a 20 minute pose. A different model each week All levels welcome Guidance given/optional Drawing materials and paper provided and included in the price. We are a friendly, welcoming, sociable group. Join us at this historic studio under the arches of Hungerford Bridge on the South Bank of the Thames, where the renowned painter and reportage artist Felix Topolski RA worked from 1951 until 1989 for an evening hosted by his grandson Lucian Topolski. Mark Lovelace will lead the drawing, Mark is an artist, with a special interest in drawing, who has been running classes at the Barbican Art Society, and at London Life Drawing, for many years. If you're looking for a fun and creative way to relax, Still Life Paint Social offers a wonderfully relaxed, untutored painting activity in the heart of Deptford. Running from 7pm – 10pm, it’s the perfect workshop for exploring your artistic side in a laid-back setting. Once people have settled in, we'll help you loosen up with a few fun drawing exercises, chat through some options for approaching your composition and then set you off to paint. This session is all about creative freedom. While it's an untutored activity, you'll quickly learn how to enjoy the simple process of playing with paint at your own pace. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, gathering your mates for something a bit different, or just flying solo for some creative downtime, this is a welcoming space to unwind and enjoy the vibe. ## **Floral Fantasy: Experience Designing a Fine-Art Portrait for Your Portfolio** For one afternoon, step out of routine shooting and into a world built entirely for creation. This is a small, immersive fine-art portrait experience where flowers, light, and human expression come together in a fully realized set. Think less classroom, more of a creative process—a space where photographers gather, ideas are exchanged, and something beautiful is built collaboratively. You’ll photograph a professionally styled model in a custom floral environment designed in collaboration with a professional florist. The set, wardrobe, and makeup are intentionally crafted to support a painterly, fine-art aesthetic, giving you images that feel elevated, cohesive, and portfolio-ready. Throughout the shoot, I’ll guide you through the creative process in real time: * How fine-art portraits begin as ideas, not lighting diagrams * How to shape light for softness, texture, and depth * How to direct and pose a model to create emotion and flow * How to think creatively about building stylized scenes without large budgets This is a hands-on experience. You won’t just observe—you’ll shoot, adjust, experiment, and refine, while also connecting with other photographers who value creativity and craft. To keep the experience personal and focused, the day is divided into **small, timed shooting sessions**. The space is intentionally intimate and will accommodate **5 photographers per session** (with a maximum of 6), along with the model, florist and make-up artist. Sessions will run between **12:00 PM and approximately 5:00 PM**, with each group receiving **about 1.5 to 2 hours** of dedicated shooting and instruction. **What to Expect:** Join us for a relaxed, supportive gathering where we'll create together, share our process, and connect mindfully. No art experience necessary, all levels and all creative expressions welcome! **What to Bring:** Please bring your own art materials and supplies, whatever you enjoy working with! **Ideas for materials:** sketchbooks, journals, pastels, crayons, markers, colored pencils, collage materials, yarn, lego, diamond art, iPad or tablet for digital drawing, or anything else that calls to you. Bring paper or surfaces to work on as well. There's no right or wrong, just bring what feels good! 🙂 **What we'll do:** **6:00 pm:** Arrive, get settled, grab a drink/snack, and find a spot **6:10 pm:** Set out your supplies, take a breath, and ease in **6:15–7:30 pm:** Create, chat, unwind, and follow the good vibes **7:30 pm:** Gentle wrap-up with *Come/leave whenever, this is relaxed and flexible gathering!* **Location:** Whole Foods, cafe area (front of the store), 4501 Market Commons Dr, Fairfax, VA 22033. Look for the table with art supplies! This is a social, low-key meetup, not a formal class, and there will be no instruction.
