The Eye Contact Experiment [Zürich, indoor]
**Start February energized!** Open your eyes, heart and soul and lose yourself in the eyes of a stranger for one minute. Explore a sense of belonging within our community while enjoying a moment of connection with a fellow human being. ►𝗪𝗛𝗬 Explore and express who you are: A human being. 𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘄 When someone approaches us on the street, sometimes there is an incentive to sell something in particular. Yet, in this event, you have the unique opportunity to experience how we connect with each other without any intention. Here, you can feel truly being seen and understood. Experience the joy of human connection. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 Eye contact is a simple form of meditation that allows you to observe your thoughts and feelings with much more clarity. This so called awareness is your gateway to a joyful life. Experience a day full of curiosity, peace and presence. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 For some of us, looking into the eyes of someone can be a difficult, daunting task. Yet it is proven that people looking into the eyes of others are perceived as more confident. This skill can be trained like a muscle. In other words, you are going to feel much more comfortable around other people. Learning this skill can be useful in holding a public speech, a company meeting, at dating or talking with your friends and family. 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘆𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀 Meet open-minded, positive people and connect with all kinds of them. Experience acceptance free of any judgement. Find a safe place where we see commonalities over differences. We are all part of the same family. 𝗕𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 Nowadays, we are glued to our phones and social media. We, almost by accident, learned to avoid contact with fellow human beings where the generation before us used to have conversations with strangers while riding the tram, bus or train. Many friendships and romantic relationships used to stem from these casual interactions in public life. Let’s solve the problem of the increasing sense of division, isolation and loneliness by coming together and be truly present and communicate with each other, verbally and non-verbally. ►𝗛𝗢𝗪 Choose someone, offer this person to sit in front of you and make yourself comfortable. Bring a blanket or something similar to comfortably sit down. Alternatively, you can do the eye gazing while standing. Look into each others eyes for a minute (or even longer). Enjoy the silence and observe what happens. Expect nothing, yet be open for everything. ►𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 The eye contact experiment is a beautiful and powerful experience that… • offers you to explore human connection through non-verbal communication. • can make your day, and for some people even change their life. • brings people together. ►𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 10th January, from 5 pm until 7 pm. ►𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 Rütschistrasse 29, 8037 Zürich https://maps.app.goo.gl/xwgUEK17FhSM4q4M6 Not sure where we are? Ink & Drink: words for loved ones 🫂 👯🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒
Ink & Drink: words for loved ones 🫂 👯🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒
✒️Ink & Drink is a creative writing evening in English, designed as a relaxed and social gathering around words, ideas, and a shared drink — in a warm, book-filled setting. 🫶With Valentine’s Day approaching, this special edition will explore love in its universal sense: romantic love, friendship, family, self-love, gratitude, or affection for someone who matters to you. 📚We’ll begin the evening with a short shared reading of a few carefully selected letter excerpts in English, meant simply as inspiration.
✍️This will be followed by a playful warm-up exercise to gently ease into writing — no pressure, no performance. ❤️The main part of the evening will be dedicated to writing a message or a letter to someone you care about.
You’ll be free to write something personal, poetic, simple, or symbolic — entirely at your own pace. ✂️A selection of creative materials will be available during the session (colored papers, different formats, pens, stickers, etc.), as well as the option to try simple paper folding to turn your text into a small crafted object or letter. This is not a class and no prior writing experience is needed.
The focus is on creating a welcoming space where writing can happen naturally, supported by gentle prompts and shared inspiration. ☕️Participation is free — please support the venue by ordering at least one drink. Whether you come to write, to reconnect with words, or simply to spend a creative evening before Valentine’s Day, you’re very welcome. Looking forward to writing together! ✍️✨

SciFi-Fantasy: "The Ministry for the Future" by Kim Stanley Robinson
SciFi-Fantasy: "The Ministry for the Future" by Kim Stanley Robinson
Established in 2025, the purpose of the new organization was simple: To advocate for the world's future generations and to protect all living creatures, present and future. It soon became known as the Ministry for the Future, and this is its story. From legendary science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson comes a vision of climate change unlike any ever imagined. Told entirely through fictional eye-witness accounts, *The Ministry for the Future* is a masterpiece of the imagination, the story of how climate change will affect us all over the decades to come. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us—and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face. It is a novel both immediate and impactful, desperate and hopeful in equal measure, and it is one of the most powerful and original books on climate change ever written. ***\*\**** *The event takes place in the Library of the Regenbogenhaus, which is open from 15h00-19h00 on Wednesdays. You're welcome to visit the library, before the book discussion in the House of Colour* \*\* \*\* **Reminder:** The Sci-Fi & Fantasy books group meets monthly, and has a limit of 12 persons (due to venue size at the Regenbogenhaus). The Sci-Fi Fantasy group has a Whatsapp Group chat, and Excel sheet for suggesting and voting on books to read. **Suggest books and vote here**: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M23Vst0aClZS5SOZN-CGDcaQRsQtO8_h18l7xChf1no/edit?gid=966314652#gid=966314652

North Woods by Daniel Mason
North Woods by Daniel Mason
North Bethesda Fiction Readers, put your hold on this book NOW if you get your books from a public library. It's still in demand. It was a finalist for the National Book Critics Award for Fiction in 2023. The novel tells the story of a single house in New England over centuries. While on its face, it is a work of historical fiction, [Kirkus Reviews](https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/daniel-mason/north-woods-mason/) calls it "magical." We will meet in the common area of a condominium association that is called The Gallery at White Flint. The organizer will greet everyone at the entrance. If the seating at the fireplace across from the main entrance is not appealing, we will convene in the organizer's unit. Look for a message a week before the date of discussion for more details on how to find us. There is metered parking across the street. Because February 16 is a national holiday, you don't have to feed the meter.
