The Web Sustainability Guidelines
The Web Sustainability Guidelines
Happy New Year, Green Software Practitioners! Green Software Brighton are back for our first event of 2026 with an excellent talk from Alexander Dawson all about the Web Sustainability Guidelines. Do you work in Web? Are you concerned about how to minimise the environmental impacts of the sites you create? Do you wish there were guidelines so you don't have to start from scratch? Then this talk is for you! Alex has been integral to creating these guidelines within the W3C, the body which has produced similar standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) which are now internationally recognised. The guidelines are broken down into different areas covering UX, web development, hosting & infrastructure and strategy & product management, so they cover many roles in the website creation lifecycle. Check out the Green Software Brighton [website](https://greensoftwarebrighton.co.uk/) for links to previous talks. Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Event will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too. --- ***Thank you to Runway East for use of their space to host our events and to Silicon Brighton and the Green Software Foundation for supporting us.***

Venez comme vous êtes ! / Come as you are! Don't worry, if you don't know how to draw, we can give you some tips. You will find us at the basement. Be careful, the reception is not very good. We may not be able to answer you. Please bring your own materials (drawing pad, pens, pencils) if possible. We announce two themes for each session. This is just to give a start point for inspiration ✨, if needed. However, you are totally free to draw whatever you would like to, no need to follow them if do not want to. 😊 We look forward to seeing you! *** Our Instagram account: https:// www.instagram.com/the_art_club_paris/ Price: all attendees need to purchase something to drink (please have cash, the BDA do not take card payment under 20€).
Blood on the Clocktower aux Caves Alliées (script intermédiaire)
Blood on the Clocktower aux Caves Alliées (script intermédiaire)
Poetry Reading in a Bar: Gentle Words & Deep Ideas 📖🍹✨
Poetry Reading in a Bar: Gentle Words & Deep Ideas 📖🍹✨
**Welcome to the Paris Poetry Circle!** Now in its 30th year, our English-language poetry reading group continues to bring together lovers of verse and thought in the heart of Paris. 🎉 Join us this Wednesday evening for a gathering of minds and voices as we read and reflect on poems that move, challenge, and illuminate — all shared over some quiet drinks. 🫖☕️🥤🧉🍹 We seek poems that are clear yet profound, sweet or serious — those that carry us forward and help us make sense of the world. We steer clear of the obscure or needlessly complex; we value clarity over cleverness, sincerity over show. Each poem is read anonymously to begin with, without revealing the author, allowing space for open, unbiased interpretation. We then explore it together — carefully, curiously — to uncover what lies beneath the surface. After the meeting, we write a letter of thanks to the living poets we have read at the group, to thank and congratulate them. We revere all the poets of this world. The group is small — usually six or seven thoughtful individuals, up to a maximum of ten. The conversation is warm, intelligent, and grounded. There is no performance, no pressure to contribute, and no cost. Only a shared pursuit of insight, beauty, and fellowship. If that resonates with you, we’d love to welcome you. Bring a poem, or simply bring yourself. 📚✨

Build-a-blockbuster - An improv show in English
Build-a-blockbuster - An improv show in English
It's cinema... without a script. Each night, the audience's ideas inspire four brand-new "films," performed live on stage. From epic fantasy to wacky westerns and painfully awkward rom-coms... you suggest it, the actors bring it to life! After every round, the audience votes one story off the reel until only one survives... the blockbuster of the night! Fast, funny, and unpredictable, this improv show turns movie magic into comedy mayhem. The chaos is brought to you by Foreign Exchanged, a motley crew of international improvisers from all over the world — India, the US, Russia, Colombia, Lebanon, Moldova, France and beyond — making their way through Paris, one English faux pas at a time. Come for the accents, stay for the laughter. please book here https://www.billetreduc.com/spectacle/spectacle-d-improvisation-en-anglais-381367
