Join Atheists Helping the Homeless DC at our monthly distribution event!
Atheists Helping the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) charity that distributes items like backpacks, socks, gloves, and toiletries to people in need throughout the Washington, DC region.
We meet up on the second Saturday of every month outside of a homeless shelter in Silver Spring, MD, called Progress Place, and pass out whatever items we have to whoever is there. Each month we serve between 60 - 100 people. Afterwards, we usually go out for breakfast.
Our goal is to provide a way for people to help each other without affiliating with a religion. Our method is to go straight to those in need, and create a welcoming and fun atmosphere to effectively create an environment where secular community can grow and thrive.

What Does Peace Look Like? (Free Event)
âPeaceâ often implies âlack of conflictâ. But is that too narrow a definition? Is a peaceful world just one without war â or is it also one that supports our highest material & spiritual well-being? What role does spirituality play in fostering this higher vision of peace?
In a world too often defined by conflict and division, there is a growing recognition that peace encompasses more than just the absence of war. It implies the equitable distribution of resources, rights, and opportunities for all members of society. And looking around us, we can find efforts in place towards this end. But we could also probably say that we still have a long way to go to achieving this. So whatâs missing? Does a more just and lasting definition of peace necessitate not only the practical material means to achieve it but also a firm understanding of our spiritual nature and that we are all members of one human family? How could we aim to achieve true peace without both? How might a deeper understanding of our shared humanity, of the role of love and justice, help lay the foundation to true, lasting peace?
Come join a different kind of conversation â one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the underlying truths that unite us all â as we discuss the spiritual perspectives offered by the BahĂĄâĂ Teachings on a vision of what actual peace might look like. Join us for a lively discussion as we explore the role each of us can play in transforming our communities, in building a more just world where each of us can thrive.
*"The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." - BahĂĄâĂ Teachings*
\*\*\* This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted.
Meaningful Conversation and Coffee - Alexandria
Higher Grounds â Del Ray is part of a growing network of gatherings where we create space for thoughtful, authentic dialogue about what matters most. Whether weâre exploring the nature of happiness, the challenges and possibilities of midlife, spirituality, culture, capitalism, parenting, or the role of art and travel in a meaningful life, every conversation is shaped by the people in the room.
Thereâs no set leader or rigid agendaâjust a shared commitment to listen as much as we speak. We start with brief introductions focused on what makes you *you* (not your LinkedIn bio), then dive straight into whatever is on peopleâs minds. The direction of each meetup emerges organically, making every event unique.
MANDATORY: PLEASE REVIEW OUR COMMUNITY GUIDELINES IN THE GROUP DESCRIPTION. Everyone is expected to engage in respectful conversations and listen deeply as well as share. We have a zero tolerance policy of sexual harassment and hate speech.
Come ready to share, reflect, and connect with others in Del Ray who are also seeking deeper conversations.

Anger and Resentment, How to Handle their Source and Live a Better Life
Wouldnât it be nice to find a way to overcome your feelings of anger so that you not only control them, but you no longer have the urge to lose your temper in the first place?
And how about being able to shake off resentments, persistent annoyance, or even feelings of vengeance?
Weâd like to invite you to an event on how to overcome anger and resentment. We will show you why people have trouble controlling their temper and where resentment comes from.
Flaring anger can ruin a meeting, a relationship, an opportunity, or just about any aspect of life. Worst of all, outbursts towards our family can create hurt that lingers throughout a lifetime.
You want to have a civil conversation, and youâve vowed that you wouldnât lose your temper, but a few minutes later, the anger flares up. Maybe youâve realized that being angry doesnât get you what you want so you internalize it. Or maybe you avoid the knockdown, drag-out fights, but stewing in resentment is exhausting and takes an emotional toll.
In this event we show you how to get to the root of your anger so that it stops being an issue to you. Youâll also learn why people harbor resentments and how to move on.
Don't continue to struggle, make a difference in your life, and join us for this local event.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to the event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This Meetup is sponsored by your local Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center.
Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games!
The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime!
Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!

How to Be a Better Communicator - Free Seminar
How to be a Better Communicator
Communication is everything in life
You are only as successful as your ability to communicate.
\- What if you could confidently talk to anyone?
\- What if you had the ability to calmly control every conversation?
\- What if you could close that sale\, ask for that date\, make new friends\, repair problematic relationships\, get that raise\, or effortlessly express any idea with confidence?
You can!
The secret to success relies on your ability or inability to effectively communicate. Attend a free seminar and gain a better ability to communicate.

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other churchâstate issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEAâs early wins and hard lessons, what weâre seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape â and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
