No entry fee, chess players of any ability welcome! Requirements * Purchase food or drink to support the shop. * Treat all patrons and staff with utmost courtesy. * Avoid foul language, we have younger members and don't want to disturb other customers. * Stronger players, please be willing to engage with and help less skilled players. To give yourself a challenge, feel free to play with a time or material disadvantage. * It is normal to change playing partners after a couple of games, don't be afraid to mix it up! * If you want to bring a guest, please send a message to the organizers. * If cancelling, please let us know as soon as you can.

Hello everyone! The location for Monday night chess has now moved to Mackenzies', which is a restaurant in downtown Fairfax City. Formerly known as Earp's Ordinary, it has now changed name. Save the address: 3950 University Dr STE 210, Fairfax, VA 22030 There is free parking available in a free garage behind the restaurant. We will meet, per usual, at 6pm. All ages and chess levels are welcome. The club has I believe 3 or 4 chess boards in stock at the restaurant, but please bring your own. Please try to purchase something to eat or drink at Mackenzie's (it can be small), like a soft drink, beer, or side of fries. We have to support our venue! Thanks! Isaac

New Date and Time starting in May 2024. Sunday Night Chess is now Saturday Night Chess! Casual Chess: informal skittles games or optionally with Clocks (Blitz, Rapid, Quick, or custom time controls). Meetups of Ashburn Chess Club are held on 2nd floor of the Wegmans supermarket, 45131 Columbia Pl, Sterling, VA 20166, located in the Dulles Centre Shoppes Plaza which is just off the Waxpool Road Exit on Route 28 expressway. To find the chess games, take the elevator or stairs up to the 2nd floor mezzanine level. If there are RSVP the host will usually arrive a few minutes early to set up tables in the center mezzanine section located near the Kids Room with the TV. Guests, walk-ins, kibitzers are all welcome too; we request minor children to be accompanied by an adult, and we request only chess players RSVP, members and guests who are attending to play chess, so we have an accurate count of chessboards needed to set up.

Our over-the-chessboard players are usually to be found at the tables in the mezzanine center section, which is well lit. Coffee, drinks, and culinary refreshments are available at the Coffee Cafe and Patisserie on the main floor of the supermarket. So grab a drink or refreshment and come up and join in the fun.
