VSDC Veg Singles Group Plays Pickleball
Whether you are a pickleball pro or have never played before, come join your fellow vegan and vegan-aspiring singles at Kraken for a pickleball afternoon! We will be playing doubles, but you don't need a partner to join (the whole point is to meet new people)!
The event fee will go to reserving pickleball courts for our group. If you cancel your RSVP on or before January 17, you can receive a refund. If you cancel your RSVP on January 18 or later, we will not be able to issue you a refund and the funds will be used to support VSDC's mission.
Kraken does have other activities, including roller skating, ping-pong, and darts. Attendees are welcome to play the other games, but you will have to pay extra.
**As a VSDC singles event, this event is for vegan and vegan-aspiring adults who do not currently have a romantic partner.** People of any sexual orientation may join as long as they are single. Anyone 21 or older is welcome. You do not need to be looking to date; you can just come socialize with other singles.
**Transportation**
The nearest Metro station is Rhode Island Ave on the Red Line. There is a parking lot as well.

Green Brunch Buffet
â—¦Join us for a laid-back Sunday Brunch. The Brunch is All-You-Can-Eat buffet and a bottle of Champagne (750 ml) with Orange Juice. You make your own mimosa. Just only for $ 35.00 per person without tax & gratuity!
It includes French toast, pancakes, waffles, omelettes made to order, Pasta, Salads, Roast Beef, Pork Ribs, oyster bar, cheese bar and Salmon, plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt, cakes, cookies, and pudding....mmmm!
After brunch, we mingle and socialize.
Closest Metro Station is Clarendon. Please take into account Metro's Weekend Track Work & Service Adjustments. Check it on http://www.wmata.com/ and plan accordingly.
The Metro Figure 8
Mimic the great skaters who gracefully carve an ephemeral numeral “8” in the ice—but instead of skates, use the steel wheels of the Metro system!
We’ll start at Metro Center, make our way to Ft. Totten on the Red line, transfer (in a very cool way) to the Yellow or Green lines; then go down to L’Enfant Plaza, where we’ll switch to the Blue, Orange or Silver lines to take us home to Metro Center and complete our ”8”.
Then off to Potbelly Sandwich Shop for lunch and reflection on our feat!
Fredericksburg Walk (Union Station, 6mi)
I’m planning on posting a lot more city visit walks for 2026. Let’s start the year doing a quick trip down to Fredericksburg!
Route:
The route meanders through the city. Highlights include
\- Chatham Manor
\- Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Battlefield
\- Historic Downtown Fred
\- Rappahannock River
\- Mary Washington House \+ Mary Washington Monument
Logistics
This walk requires more than just metro. You may drive if you would like, but I'm assuming most (including myself) will be taking the train to Fredericksburg. We will meet at Union Station at 11:30 and take the 79 Carolinian leaving at 12:10. The train also stops at Alexandria if that is more convenient. For the trip back to DC we will take the 124 Northeast Regional leaving Fred at 6:34 PM. I HIGHLY recommend booking your train ticket ASAP as prices do increase as we get closer to the date. You can book your train tickets at [amtrak.com](amtrak.com).
Outbound Train: 79 Carolinian
Inbound Train: 124 Northeast Regional
Start Location: Union Station (Main Hall)
End Location: Union Station
Distance: Approx 5-7 miles
Route: This will be more of a meander to various cool spots in the city. There’s no set route, so we can play it by ear.
Terrain: Mostly Paved/brick sidewalks. Potentially minimal bushwhacking to get to Chatham Manor.

Our events prioritize metro accessibility by meeting and ending at metro stations. Sometimes we start/stop at the same station, sometimes we do not. Please double check the event description for start/end locations to see if you can manage transportation to them.
We try to be punctual with our event times so please be respectful to others and show up a few minutes early, because we will leave without you.
We're always looking for new leaders who can showcase their neighborhood or any cool places they know, so please reach out either at an event or on meetup if you are interested.

Rosie's Farm Sanctuary Volunteer Day
Join us for a volunteer day helping the animals at Rosie's Farm Sanctuary in Potomac, MD.
Before attending this event, you must sign a liability waiver. Please use this link https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/b5nky2tonaovjqgjn6ap5p/web/
The chores you will be doing are physical. You will be working on big projects that require many volunteers like removing old bedding, sanitizing stals and replacing with new bedding, along with the daily clean up chores. Wear boots and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.
Feel free to bring a filled water bottle. On sunny days a brimmed hat and sunglasses may be helpful. Sunscreen is also suggested.
Please do not bring any food or yummy-smelling items on your body or in your bag as our animals love to eat and are on special diets.
Out of respect for the animals, we do not allow any food with animal products to be consumed at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. Please ensure that all edible items are plant-based (no dairy, no cheese, no cow’s milk ice cream, no meat, no fish, no eggs). Thank you for your cooperation and respect for this. It is very important to us.
There is a gift shop where you can browse and warm up during the event.
Please post your pictures and tag Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary and Rockville Vegans!
We are limited to 30 volunteers, so please change your RSVP if you cannot attend.
If there is interest, we may go out to eat in one of our local vegan restaurants afterward.

Y’all are invited to a boot-stompin’, toe-tappin’ country line dancing night with Social Sips & Bites. We’re bringing together good music, a lively dance floor, and even better company for a night full of classic country vibes.
The night kicks off with a line-dancing lesson, so no experience is needed. Whether it’s your first two-step or you already know a few classics, you’ll be guided through the moves before the open dancing begins. After that, it’s all about country hits, cold drinks, and enjoying the rhythm together.
