Writers' Club: GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings šš¤ with JakCre
Hello, Jakarta Creative! **Are you a member of [Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you will take at the event š
JakCre and JakFri is **the** biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta⦠and we invite you to join us for this **WRITERS' CLUB: GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writing!**
Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.
Come as you are... itās the best version of yourself.
**ABOUT THE EVENT**
What's one of the most difficult part in writing? Getting high-quality feedback!
This event addresses exactly this! Plus, writers will have the chance to be part of a friendly community and a support system for fellow creatives. **We want to help and elevate each other!**
This is what we will do: We will meet at the indicated time (please don't be late) and everyone who wishes to can drop their name on a box for a lucky draw. One person is selected by chance and will need to have a text **of any kind** (poetry/fiction/non-fiction/essay/article/script/blog/music lyrics/whatever!) ready to share with everyone on a Google drive folder.
Then everyone will take their time and read the piece(s) on their own. We allocate **about 60-90 minutes quiet reading time**. Readers will take notes on what they wish to give feedback to. The author is also welcome to brief readers on what they should pay attention to or give feedback on.
People who wishes to be there as readers only (that is, without putting their name in the lucky draw box), are most welcome to! The crucial part is that everyone needs to be respectful of each other's craft and give **polite, constructive feedback**!
After reading time, there is the feedback time! **For about 90 minutes, we will discuss what we have read, and give feedback to the author.**
Sounds easy, fun, and productive? It is. Everyone will have the chance to learn something new! This event doesn't require any preparation! We will read and give feedback on the spot.
This will be a unique occasion to receive a feedback on your writings (of any kind) and to practice your ability to give and receive feedbacks on texts!
Just be ready to share (not mandatory) **a piece of your writing of about 2,000 words** (1,000 to 10,000 words is OK, too, but be aware that a shorter piece is more likely to receive plenty of feedback) as a Google Drive link and grant people access to read.
Be sure you will join with a device where it's possible to join a video conference (Zoom/GoogleMeet/tbd).

VSDC Movie Watch Party, Discussion, and Vegan Food
Join the [Veg Society of DC (VSDC)](vsdc.org) for a pro-animal/vegan-themed Movie Watch Party on Saturday, March 21 at 3:00 pm in Fairfax VA. Socializing with vegan food beforehand and discussion about the movie afterwards is planned. THIS MONTH'S MOVIE WATCH PARTY WILL BEGIN AT 3 PM.
This month's movie is Wicked: For Good (Part 2). *Wicked: For Good* explores the untold story behind the witches of Oz, following two unlikely friends whose choices, values, and courage shape the world around them. Itās a powerful, visually stunning story about identity, loyalty, and what it truly means to be āgood.ā The movie is 2 hours and 17 minutes long.
The VSDC member hostsā home in Fairfax has a small home theater that can accommodate around 20 people. This regular event is a fun way to learn, discuss, and meet vegans and vegan-curious people (Thanks to Mindy Kursban and David Kwiatkowski for hosting!).
FEE: The $12 fee will cover the hosts' expenses for the event, including food, beverages, and other associated costs. If there are any proceeds beyond these costs, which we don't expect, they will go towards VSDC's work to fulfill its mission. In order to ensure the success of the evening and limit late cancellations, **the fee is refundable until 5 days before the event. [NOTE the fee increase due to the increase in the cost of food]**
BECAUSE THERE IS A FEE FOR THIS EVENT, MEETUP DOES NOT ALLOW FOR A WAITLIST ONCE THE RSVPs ARE FULL. IF IT IS FULL, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU CHECK MEETUP OCCASIONALLY TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS CHANGED THEIR RSVP.
FOOD: For our afternoon movie watch party, weāll have mostly snack-style foods. Feel free to bring any vegan food or beverages to share.
WHO: All VSDC and Meetup members are invited. Bringing a non-vegan friend is encouraged.
WHEN: Saturday, March 21 **at 3:00 pm**\*\*\*. We'll eat and enjoy social time together first and begin watching the movie around 3:30. Please note this movie is longer than usual, so you can give yourself enough time to stay till the end.
WHERE: The home is in Fairfax VA 22033, near Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. It is 8 miles from the closest metro at either Vienna or Reston (Uber or Lyft would be necessary). **For safety and security reasons, the exact location will be emailed privately via Meetup about 2 days in advance to those who have rsvp'd Yes.** Please make sure your email is current in Meetup, your Meetup settings allow organizer messages, and check your spam if you don't receive the message.
PARKING: There is plenty of free parking within a 3-minute walk of the home.
\*You must register via this page to attend the event.\* A Pay Pal account is required to pay the $12. Because there is a cost for the event, Meetup doesn't have a waitlist for the movie.

Native Plant Book Club: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Join our partners Watermark Woods Native Plants, Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL), and Birch Tree Bookstore for the Read! Plant! Grow! Book Club, which focuses on native plants, sponsored by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and LCPL. At this meeting weāll discuss the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Both memoir and journalistic investigation, this book explores how the Kingsolver family took on a new challenge: to spend a year on a locally -produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consume. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nationāās lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.
You can either buy the book from Birch Tree Bookstore or contact Allison Forbes at [Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov](mailto:Allison.forbes@loudoun.gov) to borrow a copy of the book at the library. There are two ways to participate: attend the event online via the library website or [sign up to participate in person at Birch Tree Bookstore](https://www.birchtreebookstore.com/event-details/read-plant-grow-2026-02-24-18-30).
