Orpington British Sign Language Practice Group Monthly Meeting
Orpington BSL conversation group. Open to anyone wishing to brush up or practice their British Sign Language skills in a relaxed, unstructured setting with like minded people.
We meet on the third Saturday of the month at The Second Home cafรฉ, in Orpington High Street (BR6 0NB), from 11am to 1pm.
Come join us for a cuppa and brunch whilst practicing your BSL.
This is an unstructured group, so anyone is welcome. We only ask that you are respectful of each other, regardless of gender, religion, sexuality and beliefs. During our conversation meetings, we appreciate if we all adhere to a 'voice off' policy, to maximise our BSL use. If you don't know a particular sign, don't just say the word... Fingerspell it; gesture it; paraphrase what you mean with the signs that you know, write it down in paper... Anything is good, as long as you give it your best!
The Achalasia Action Central London In Person Meetup
Hi Everyone,
We are continuing with our in person meetings in London, as they are working well.
The Achalasia Action monthly Meetups were originally all held in London and enabled anyone with achalasia to meet and learn from others how to manage the condition. Since COVID we have been meeting online so that anyone with achalasia can join in with the discussions, wherever they live. It is really helpful to hear about the experiences of others and learn lots of helpful tips as well as sharing a common bond.
Every meeting is different as they all depend on the mix of people attending, so you can learn something new every time!
If you are interested in meeting in Central London on 18th January or a future date please let me know.
We are keeping the numbers small at first while we gauge the number of people interested and the venues for the meetings. It is important that everyone who signs up for a meeting, attends or changes their rsvp no later than 24 hours beforehand, so that we keep numbers at a workable level.
It is likely that we will meet in the Marble Arch area, but I will let you know the exact details the day before the meeting.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
All the best

ASL Sunday Silent Social at Fairfax's Wegmans
Whether you're Deaf, HoH, an interpreter, an ASL student, or just want to learn or practice American Sign Language (ASL), we welcome all levels of signers to come join us for an evening of ASL socializing and practice.
This event occurs on the first and third Sundays of every month, in the heart of Fairfax County at the Fairfax Wegman's (corner of Route 29 and Monument Drive). We can be found on the upper level, typically near the stairs. We generally start around 7 pm.
ASL beginners are welcome, but you should know the ASL alphabet and some basic signs - this is not an ASL class, but the more experienced signers are generally happy to help beginners learn and improve. There is no better way to develop your signing skills than by joining the conversation with other signers. There is a place for everyone to join, learn and practice. Regardless, we are always welcoming so donโt be discouraged to attend; this is very informal and new folks are always welcome.
Note, some attendees arrive early and grab some of Wegmanโs food for dinner, so you can combine a shopping trip with the ASL practice.
